Please also read the version 3.0 manual. Focus is placed on the following four topics: The Picture-in-Picture feature Teletext Settings Changes to the user interface Picture-in-Picture is only supported in version 4.0. However, the other 3 features are already included in 3.0, improved in version 4.0 and also partially documented in the user manual mentioned above. The Picture-in-Picture feature allows you to watch multiple TV channels simultaneously. Expanded options for the other three features in version 4.0 substantially improve the use of MediaCenter. 1 Picture-in-Picture Overview The Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature displays two or more TV windows, allowing you to view and record multiple TV channels simultaneously. Picture-in-Picture is a TV function which requires two independent tuners. MediaCenter 4.0 provides you PiP support in all available modes (program mode known as 2-foot mode and TV mode known as 10-foot mode). The following commands are available to you in all modes. 2 Picture-in-Picture TV Mode Not all PiP functions are supported by all remote control units. Opening an Additional TV Window To open an additional TV window, press the green button on your remote control while in TV mode. The next available TV channel is then displayed in another TV window. The new window is now the active window. Activating the Image Normally the main image is active. If you have opened at least one additional TV window, the active image is displayed with a green border. You can change the active window. If a certain window is active and you wish to activate a different window, then press the Confirm/OK button on your remote control until a green border appears around the desired window. Switching TV Channels You can switch the TV channels in an active window using the arrow keys on your remote control. 3 Pinnacle Media Center Switching the Image The images which are displayed in the TV windows can be exchanged. To do this, press the yellow button on your remote control while the second TV window is activated. Positioning the Additional TV Window Your second TV window can be positioned at any location on the screen. To do this, first activate the TV window which you want to move and then use the arrow keys on your remote control to move your window to the desired position. Closing the TV Window You can close a TV window if you no longer need it to be open. To do this, press the red button on your remote control. If you close the main window, all additional TV windows will also be closed. 4 Picture-in-Picture PC View Creating a Small Format Image When creating a small format image, you can choose from the following options: Press the button in the bottom control bar. button in the Open the PiP Selector window and click the appropriate bottom control bar. Then select the Create PiP option. Open the context menu and select the create PiP option from the PiP submenu. The most recently opened channel in the TV channel listing will then be displayed in a small window. The new window is now activated. Activating the Image In PC mode, there are three methods to activate the TV window: Left-click in the window with the image that you wish to be activated. In the PIP Selector window, click the listing for the image you wish to activate. Open the context menu and select the TV channel containing the image you wish to activate from the PiP sub-menu. The active image can also be identified in the PiP Selector by a lighter background. 5 Pinnacle Media Center Switching TV Channels The currently running TV channel in the active window can be switched. To do this, chose one of the following options: Open the Channel list window and select the new TV channel. If you wish to switch the current TV channel according to the list sequence in the TV channel list, use the buttons in the bottom control bar. Exchanging the Image If you double-click on the second TV window the image in the main window will exchange with the image in the second TV window. Closing the Active Window There are several methods for closing the active window. Choose one of the following: Click the close button on the small format window title bar, or If you cannot see the title bar, there could be several explanations: · The title bar is hidden. If so, move your mouse pointer over the window. · The width of the window is too small. In this case, increase the width if you wish to view the title bar. Open the PiP Selector and select the close option for the window you wish to close, or Open the context menu in the small format window. Now select the Close Active (Window) option from the PiP sub-menu. Closing All Windows If you do not need any windows open, you can close all windows simultaneously. To do this, open the window context menu and select the Close All option from the PiP sub-menu. 6 Teletext Overview Switching TV Channels from the Teletext Navigation Window You can switch the TV channel running in the active window by using the Teletext navigation window. To do this, select from the following options: Open the Channel list window and select the new TV channel. If you wish to switch the current TV channel according to the list sequence in the TV channel list, use the buttons in the bottom control bar. Using International Character Sets If the Teletext signal contains national language information, the appropriate character set will be automatically selected based on the language information. In most cases, this means that you should select the Auto option from the list of available character sets. However, there are instances where the language information is not supported. If this is the case, we recommend that you select the appropriate character set. To do this, go to the Character set area in the Teletext navigation window and select the desired character set. 7 Pinnacle Media Center Viewing Teletext Information Depending on your wishes and the available screen space, there are two display options for the Teletext window: As an independent window Or instead of the TV window 8 Teletext Teletext Caption Several TV stations broadcast the caption information as regular Teletext. To display the Teletext captions you must first position the Teletext window on top of the TV window and then activate transparency. To do this, select the transparency option in the Overlay TV section of the Teletext navigation window. Once Teletext is activated, use the keyboard to enter the number of pages containing captions (e.g. 450 for National Geographic). Configuring the Additional Teletext Viewing Hidden Text The Teletext signal (for certain TV channels) may contain information in addition to the Teletext window information which is not normally displayed. For example, this additional information could provide notification that one of the currently running TV channel shows will be delayed. If a user wishes to record this TV channel, he will be notified of the change. For certain games, the answers to specific questions may be hidden. For both of these cases, you can view the hidden text by activating the View Hidden Text (Display hidden chars) option in the Teletext navigation window.
