Turn on light The photo light can be turned on to enhance lighting conditions when taking a picture in close range. It can either be turned on using the camera settings, or using a shortcut on the keypad, % 7 To turn on the photo light. White balance The white balance effect adjusts the picture colour balance according to the lighting conditions. Normally our eyes compensate for lighting conditions with different colour temperatures. A digital camera needs to find a reference point which represents white. It will then calculate all the other colours based on this white point. For instance, if a halogen light illuminates a white wall, the wall will have a yellow cast, while in fact it should be white. So if the camera knows the wall is supposed to be white, it will then compensate for all the other colours in the scene accordingly. 10 June 2005 Getting started Camera & Video recorder Most digital cameras feature automatic white balance whereby the camera looks at the overall colour of the image and calculates the best-fit white balance. However these systems are often fooled, especially if the scene is dominated by one colour, say green, or if there is no natural white. Your phone allows you to choose a white balance manually. In addition to auto, you can choose between incandescent, fluorescent, daylight and cloudy. Before making the actual shot, you can focus on an area in the scene which should be white or neutral grey, or at a white or grey target card. The camera will then use this reference when taking the actual picture. Turn on macro By selecting Turn on macro, you can zoom in to focus on small objects, such as flowers and insects when taking a picture in close range. Picture quality You can select which quality you would like for your picture. Normal picture quality will use less space than Fine picture quality. Turn on time and date By selecting Turn on time and date, you can choose to add the time and date to your picture. Reset file no. You might have deleted or moved pictures from your Memory Stick Duo, and therefore not have them in serial order. If you want your pictures to be sorted in serial order, you can reset the file number here. Save to The pictures are saved on the Memory Stick Duo as default.
