It emits a burst of high-intensity light at just the right moment, allowing you to shoot well-lit photos indoors or in low-light conditions. For saving photos and video clips, the phone has an internal memory and a slot for a memory card. A memory card increases the memory capacity, and you can use it to transfer photos and video clips to compatible devices. You can set the camera to take photos in different sizes, ranging from VGA size up to 5 Megapixels, depending on your phone model. You can set the camera to take full-length video clips, or video clips limited in length, that are suitable for picture messages (MMS). Normally our eyes compensate for lighting conditions with different colour temperatures. A digital camera needs to find a reference point which represents white. It will then calculate all the other colours based on this white point. For example, if a halogen light illuminates a white wall, the wall will appear yellow, while in fact it should be white. So if the camera knows the wall is supposed to be white, it will then compensate for all the other colours in the scene accordingly. Most digital cameras feature automatic white balance where the camera looks at the overall colour of the image and calculates the best white balance. However, these systems may not work properly if the scene is dominated by one colour or if there is no natural white. Available white balance settings: · · · · · Auto Daylight Cloudy Fluorescent Incandescent Before taking the actual photo, you can focus on an area in the scene which should be white or neutral grey, or on a plain white or grey background. The camera will then use this reference when taking the actual photo. Metering mode Available metering mode settings: · Normal automatically determine a well-balanced exposure by measuring the light in the viewfinder. · Spot adjust exposure to the centre of the picture, marked by a cross. Useful, for example, when you take a photo of a person against a light background. ISO for light sensititvity You can adjust the light sensitivity of the camera. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has defined standard scales for light sensitivity of photographic film. The light sensitivity affects the amount of noise, or grain, in a picture. High sensitivity gives more noise, which results in a grainier picture. · · · · Auto the camera sets the light sensitivity. ISO 100 low light sensitivity. ISO 200 normal light sensitivity. ISO 400 high light sensitivity. Picture quality You can select the quality you would like for your photo. · Normal picture quality will use less memory space than Fine picture quality. Picture quality is available in the Settings menu which is the last item on the Settings bar. 12 July 2007 Getting started Camera Auto focus (AF) light The camera has a light to assist auto focus when lighting conditions are poor. Night mode In dark environments, the night mode effect enhances picture quality with longer exposure time. Please note that due to a longer exposure time, the camera is more sensitive to movements.
