(Typically SEMC DSS-20 Sync Station or Unknown Device) 2) Synchronization via Sync Station (DSS-25) 2.1 Installing Driver for Sync Station (DSS-25) Connect Sync Station (DSS-25) to the PC through the USB port with the PC Suite CD-ROM in the CD drive. PC will notify of a new hardware found. Follow the instructions of "Found New Hardware Wizard" and install the driver found in the Sony Ericsson PC Suite CD-ROM. A P910i icon will be created on the PC's desktop upon successful installation of driver.

Click Update Driver to open the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the wizard instructions. Connecting P910i to PC via Sync Station (DSS-25) Power on the P910i and plug it into the Sync Station. Make sure it is on PC connect status. [Control panel > cable > PC Connect selected] Double click on the P910i icon created on the PC's desktop. The "Phone Connection Wizard" will guide through to identify your new P910i. When prompted, give your P910i a name you can identify with. Backup of P910i can be done now. Check the options in which you like to synchronize between your P910i and your default mail client (e.g.: Microsoft Outlook).

If the drivers for the USB Sync Station has not been installed even after following the steps above, 1) Installing PC Suite (compulsory for all ways of synchronization) Insert PC Suite CD-ROM into CD drive. Select preferred language and proceed on to the Sony Ericsson PC Suite setup. The InstallShield Wizard will guide you through the rest of the installation. I. II. Insert the PC Suite CD provided. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager Double-click the type of device you want to update or change. (typically Ports (COM & LPT) or Other Devices) Right-click the specific device driver you want to update or change.

3) Synchronization via Bluetooth wireless technology You would need a Bluetooth device to be installed on your PC into order for your P910i to communicate with your PC via Bluetooth. Please refer to your Bluetooth device manual for installation on your PC. The P910i can then paired with this device via Bluetooth wireless communication link. 3.1 Configuring Bluetooth Serial Port The Bluetooth Serial Port service allows a remote Bluetooth device to establish a wireless serial connection with the computer. The wireless serial connection may be used by the PC applications as though a physical serial cable is connected to the devices. For synchronization via Bluetooth, two COM Ports will be used. One from the Bluetooth Local Services, the other from the Bluetooth Client Application. Activate and pair-up the Bluetooth connectivity of the P910i and PC. in the From the Bluetooth icon system tray, right click it and select "Setup", then "Configuration", then click the "Local Services" tab. If you do not have the setup option, choose the "Advanced Configuration" and then click "Local Services" tab. Next, right-click the Sony Ericsson Under the column "Service Name", you will see "Bluetooth Serial Port" listed. This will have a COM Port assigned to it. Note the COM Port number the Bluetooth Serial Port is using. For example COM4. Under the Client Applications tab, checked Bluetooth Serial Port COM number exists. E.g. COM13. and select PC Suite tray icon "Properties". Tick the COM Port found in step 3.1. E.g.: COM4. Then click "Close". This will link up the Phone link connection with the Bluetooth Serial Port COM under Local Services tab as mentioned in 3.1. 3.3 Connecting in From "My Bluetooth Places", find the P910i's Bluetooth device and right click on the "P910i Bluetooth Serial Port" icon to connect. Check to see that the COM Port number associated with this connection is the same as the COM Port number under the Client Applications tab mentioned at the end of 3.1. E.g.: COM13. If the PC prompts you for the Bluetooth Pin Code, type in any 4 digits. Your P910i will then prompts you to enter the Pin Code again. Type in the same number you have type in your PC previously. PC will show a dialogue box that the P910i is connecting. P910i will show Connection Request: "PC is trying to connect in order to transfer an entry". Select "Accept". PC will show Bluetooth authorization Requested. Click OK to allow access to services on computer.

PC will show Bluetooth Service Authorization, Click OK. PC notification will show "Bluetooth device is attempting to establish a serial connection with this computer". PC will show "Bluetooth connection successful", "Bluetooth Serial Port COM0 is now configured to connect to the device P910i". You will then receive an error notification "My Bluetooth Serial Port Connection failed: the remote device closed the connection". This is normal. Click OK. Next you will see the "Phone Connection Link" icon change from to as the P910i connects back to the PC. This indicates that the P910i is linked to the PC and is ready for Synchronization. Open the Sony Ericsson PC Suite Software and start using the application. [Start > Programs > Sony Ericsson > P910i > Synchronize] 4) Synchronization Via Infrared 4.1 Settings for P910i infrared First, make sure that the P910i infrared setting is set to "PC Connect" status and activate it by turning it on. You can do this by [Control Panel > Connections tab > Infrared > select "PC Connect" & "On"] 4.2 Infrared Connection Link Right click on the "Phone Connection on your system tray Link" icon and click "Properties". The "Link Properties" window appear and uncheck all options except for the Infrared Connection port. At this moment keep in mind to have the P910i near the infrared of the PC for optimum connectivity. Upon successfully configured the linking, you will notice that the status for the infrared connection turns "Connected" in the "Link Properties" window. Start synchronizing by going to [Start > Programs > Sony Ericsson > P910i > Synchronize]
II. Connecting through wireless with P910i as a
modem
P910i contains a complete GSM/GPRS modem, so it can be use to connect the PC to the Internet or corporate intranet. P910i appears to the laptop like a normal modem. The connection over the air can be by any of the bearers that your P910i supports: GPRS HSCSD (High-speed Circuit Switched Data) CSD (Circuit Switched Data) There are 3 ways to connect the P910i modem to the PC: Via Bluetooth (The PC will need to have the BT device)

Sony Ericsson P910i Series Bluetooth TM Modem Sony Ericsson P910i Series IR Modem Sony Ericsson P910i Series Serial Modem. Select the Modems > Properties > Diagnostics > Query Modem; to make sure that the modem is functioning and the COM port assignment is correct. If modem is working, it will be indicated as SUCCESSFUL. If drivers are not present on PC, go to Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Add. This is to add the P910i modem drivers. Follow the hardware Wizard to Install New Modem. If the drivers are not present in the Manufacturer section under Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, place the Sony Ericsson PC Suite CD and search for the drivers there. After installation, verified under diagnostics that the modem is working.
Ensure that the P910i modem is installed and recognized by the PC, tested to be working. Set P910i to modem mode and link to PC via Infrared, Bluetooth or Sync Station (DSS-25). Mobile Phone icon will be shown if Monitor phone is connected. Follow through the Dialup Wizard to set up for dialing through GPRS, CSD/HSCSD. Alternatively:

2) Dial-up connection You can use the Dial-up Networking Wizard provided by the Sony Ericsson Communication Suite.
To create the dialup on PC, go to Control Panel, Network Connections, Create New connection. Specify to do a dialup connection. Select the modem to be used in dialup. In the dialup number, use *99***n# where "n" is the CID number associated with the APN setup. "n" could be 1 or 2 or 3. E.g.: Put *99***1#, to point to CID = 1; Put *99***2#, to point to CID =2.

3) Dialing-up Do the dial-up to activate Internet access services. Subscriber will have to ensure that they have the Internet access service via modem activated. If you have 2 connections in your PC, go to Tools > Internet options > Connections and choose the correct dial-up connection. If you are using LAN, make sure you uncheck the LAN option in the LAN settings first, before you choose the dial-up connection. Launch your preferred Internet browser. ask about automatic configuration settings that can be done over the air. [Over The Air (OTA) configuration]. That is, the configuration will be sent to you by the operator network via some simple steps. The simple steps typically will contain some simple text instructions to be send via SMS or subscriber needs to access the operator's web site to trigger an OTA configuration. You can also find auto-configuration messages at www.SonyEricsson.com/support. With the necessary service subscription from your operator and the configured P900, you will have access to services like WAP over CSD/GPRS and Internet connectivity. Ensure that Bluetooth dongle is activated at the PC. Go to P910i's [Control panel > Connection > Bluetooth]. Set it to "on" mode and visible to other devices. Go to the "Devices" tab and click "Add". It will then search for your PC's Bluetooth signal. Search for your PC's name and select it. You will be prompt to key in a passkey. *It can be any passkey that you desire. Select "Done". Your PC will then prompt to enter the same passkey entered previously at the P910i. Click OK. You have successfully made a connection between the PC and P910i. You can now transfer your media from your PC by right clicking on the media [Send to > Bluetooth > *your P910i] 2) Via Sync Station Ensure that P910i is properly sat and connected on your Sync Station. Proceed by clicking the P910i icon, on your desktop. You will then be shown the phone icon, double click on it and do the same with the memory icon. P910i icon
