Windows XP USB Download and Installation When you plug the computer cable into the VESA connector on a computer, Windows XP automatically detects and installs USB drivers for the keyboard and composite device. It is only when you plug in the USB cable that you must install the InFocus Windows XP drivers. You need only to follow the Found New Hardware Wizard to complete the driver installation process. It starts automatically when Windows XP you plug in the USB cable. Note that you need to install the driver once on each laptop or desktop PC you use with the projector. To download the Windows XP USB drivers NOTE If you are upgrading projector software, note that the drivers are included with the software bundle you downloaded. You do not need to download them separately. Go to To install the USB Drivers for Windows XP on the next page. 1 In the USB page, click the Download Now button next to the Windows XP USB Drivers. The File Download dialog box appears. NOTE By default the File Download dialog box includes a message warning you that you are about to download a potentially damaging file. You can ignore this message. 2 Click Save. The Save As dialog box appears. 3 Navigate to the location where you want to save the file, then click Save. You can place it on the Desktop if you wish. You will not need to keep the file after you install the drivers unless you plan to upgrade more than one computer. You can also save the file on a floppy disk after you download it. The USB-drivers.exe file downloads to your computer's hard drive. You are ready to install the USB drivers on your computer. To extract the USB drivers Before you install the USB drivers, you need to make the drivers available by 'extracting' them from the .exe file you downloaded from the InFocus website. Make sure that you extract the files on the computer you want to upgrade. 1 Navigate to the location where you stored the USB-drivers.exe file, then double-click it. The example below shows the file as it appears on the desktop. 2 In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box, click Unzip. By default, the files are stored at C:\InFocus USB drivers. 3 Once the files are extracted, click Close. Now you are ready to install the USB drivers. To install the USB Drivers for Windows XP 1 2 3 Turn on the computer on. Plug the projector into the computer. Make sure the USB cable is plugged into a USB connector on the computer. Turn the projector on. When you turn the projector on, a message appears adjacent to the Windows Task bar, telling you that Windows has detected new hardware. Windows XP automatically installs the drivers for the display and the keyboard. The Found New Hardware Wizard automatically appears. Page 2 4 Select Install from a List or Specific Location (Advanced). Then click Next. 5 In the next Wizard dialog box that appears, select Search for the Best Driver in These Locations, then select Include This Location in the Search. Click Browse, then navigate to location where the drivers are stored. If you downloaded the drivers separately, they are located at C:\InFocus USB Drivers. If you downloaded a projector software upgrade, they are located in the software folder (for example, C:\650\v3.6). Then click Next. Page 3 The USB drivers install. 6 When the drivers are installed, the final Wizard dialog box appears. Click Finish. The Found New Hardware message box appears, telling you that the USB drivers were successfully installed. Page 4
