FS-C5016N Installation Guide Unpacking Important! Kyocera Mita assumes no liability for any damage caused by an improper installation of the printer. Checking Parts and Components 1 Unpack the printer and all its included components. 2 Remove the packing cover and all packing tapes. Installing the Toner Containers and Waste Toner Box Close the paper transfer unit tightly. Open the top cover and remove the packing item. Make sure that the side of the toner container with the markings (caution notes, etc.) are facing downward, and shake the new toner container 5 or 6 times as shown in the figure in order to distribute the toner evenly inside the container. Set the new toner container in the printer with the markings facing upward as shown in the figure below. 4 5 6 7 Packing Item Toner Supply Opening In this example, it is assumed that you are installing the black toner container. DO NOT forcefully push in on the center of the toner container or touch the toner supply opening with your hands or fingers during this procedure. Note Be sure you set the toner container in the correct location for that color. 8 Install the toner container by pushing down on the container until it clicks firmly into place. 9 Apply light pressure to the toner container and push the blue lock lever on the toner container back towards the locked symbol ( ) as far as it will go. Lock Lever 10 Close the top cover. Magenta (M) Cyan (C) Yellow (Y) Black (K) To install the other color toner containers, use the same procedure as above. 11 Open the left cover. 12 Open the cap of the waste toner box. 13 Cap Install the waste toner box into the printer as shown in the figure by setting the bottom of the box into the receptacle, and then pushing down on the box until it snaps firmly into place. 14 Make sure that the waste toner box is correctly inserted and close the left cover. Making Connections 15 Connect the printer to your computer. (The connecting cable is sold separately.) Parallel Interface USB Interface Network Interface (Ethernet) 16 Connect the provided power cord to a power outlet. 17 Turn on ( | ) the printer's power switch (located on the rear side of the printer). HI 3 Press the M key. Others > 4 Press the or key repeatedly until >Color Registration > appears. HI 5 Press the M key. 6 >>Print Regist Chart will appear. 7 Press the ENTER key. A question mark (?) appears. >Color Registration > >>Print Regist Chart >>Print Regist Chart ? 8 Press the ENTER key. Processing will appear and a color registration correction chart will be printed out. There are left (L), horizontal (H) and right (R) registration charts for each color (cyan, magenta and yellow) included on the color registration correction chart. The display returns to 4A=@O. 9 Perform steps 1 through 5 above once again. Press the or key repeatedly until >>Adjust Cyan appears. HI 10 Press the ENTER key. 0 or 00 will be displayed for each value and the cursor will flash under the left (L) value. >>Adjust Cyan L= H= R= >>Adjust Cyan L= 0 H= 00 R= 0 11 Look at the left chart (L) in the cyan portion of the color registration correction chart that you printed out in step 8. Find the two lines that most seem to overlap as a single straight line and note the number value listed there. In the example below the value would be -2. (Be careful of plus [+] and minus[-] numbers.) -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 +8 +9 12 Color Registration Correction Chart Press the or key until that value is displayed. HI 13 L >>Adjust Cyan L=-2 H= 00 R= 0 Use the and keys to move the cursor right and left. Perform the same operation as you did for the left (L) value in order to find the horizontal (H) and right (R) values for cyan in the color registration correction chart, and select those values on the operator panel as well. L M 14 Press the ENTER key. OK? will appear. If all of the displayed values are correct, press the ENTER key. Color registration for cyan is complete. 15 Press the key. >>Adjust Magenta will appear and, once you complete the settings for that color, >>Adjust Yellow will appear as well. Perform the same operation as you did for the cyan chart in order to find the values for magenta and yellow in the color registration correction chart, and perform those settings in the same way. I 16 Once you have completed the settings for all 3 colors, press the MENU key. The display returns to Ready. Color registration is now complete. For verification purposes, print out the color registration correction chart once again. If "0" is not the value that corresponds to the two lines that most seem to overlap as a single straight line, perform the operation from step 9 once again. Caution If the problem of skewedcolor printout still persists even after correcting the color registration, call for service. OK? L=-2 H= 00 R=+1 Note The same color registration procedure must be performed for magenta and then yellow.
