With the speed of 3G (UMTS) you can keep in touch using voice and video. During the call, you see the person you are talking to on your screen and the person can see you. Some phone keys and functionality may differ from the instructions in this document. Before you start Before you start making a video call you need: · a 3G (UMTS) phone subscription and a SIM card which supports 3G (UMTS). · to make sure that you are within coverage of a 3G (UMTS) network. The person you are calling must also have a 3G (UMTS) phone which supports video calling, and the conditions above apply to the person you are calling as well. 3G (UMTS) service is available when the 3G icon appears in the status bar. 2 July 2007 Getting started Video calls Making a video call There are several ways of making a video call: · · · · · from standby from contacts from the call list from a message from within the video call application. To make a call from standby 1. Enter phone number (international prefix and area code if applicable). 2. Select Options > Make video call. To make a call from contacts 1. From standby select Contacts and scroll to a contact to call. 2. Select Options > Make video call. To make a call from the call list 1. From standby select Menu > Calls and select a tab. 2. Scroll to the name or number you want to call. 3. Select Options > Make video call. To make a call from a message 1. From standby select Menu > Messaging and select a folder. 2. Open a message from the person you want to call. 3. Select Options > Use > Video call. To make a call from within the video call application 1. Select Options. 2. Select Call list > Contacts and the phone number you want to call, or enter a phone number. 3. Select Call. Answering and ending a video call To answer an incoming video call · Press . To end a video call · Press . 3 July 2007 Getting started Video calls Zooming To use the zoom with an outgoing video call From the video call menu, press to zoom in and press to zoom out. Sharing pictures during a video call Share a picture with the person you are calling. Not all phones have this function. To share pictures during a call 1. Press to select the pictures tab. 2. Scroll to a picture and select Share. Video call options Several options are available to optimise a video call. From within the video call application select Options and select from the list: · Switch camera ­ to switch between the main camera and the video call camera. Use the main camera to show a fullscreen image of your surroundings to the recipient. · Sound ­ options during a video call. · Speaker on/Speaker off ­ turn the incoming sound off or on. · Microphone on/Microphone off ­ to mute the microphone during a video call. You can also press and hold as a shortcut. · Transfer sound ­ have the incoming sound transferred to handsfree equipment via BluetoothTM wireless technology. · Camera ­ options. · Take picture ­ you can take a picture from the large video window only when it contains live video during an active call. · Layout ­ choose the size of the outgpoing video call window and incoming video call window. You can also hide your self-portrait. This does not affect what the other person sees. · Brightness ­ adjust the brightness of the outgoing video image. Press or to decrease or increase the brightness level. · Night mode on/Night mode off ­ use when lighting conditions are poor. This affects the outgoing video image. A half moon icon appears close to the outgoing video screen when the night mode is on. · Call list ­ make a video call from call list. You can select a contact or enter a number. 4 July 2007 Getting started Video calls · Settings ­ answering options. · Answer showing... ­ set the video call camera to be on or off when you answer a video call. If you answer with the video call camera turned off. · Camera off pic ­ set a picture to show to the recipient when the camera is off. · Video call sound ­ select if microphone, speaker, or both should be on or off. · Video quality ­ select a picture quality for video calls. Changes do not take effect during an ongoing call. Select Motion quality for a better flow of images. Select Standard for standard viewing. Select Picture quality for detailed images.
