The unit should be protected from dampness and dirt. 3012 bilities. Depending on reception, you may not be able to use the navigational function inside buildings. When used in vehicles, you may not be able to adequately receive GPS data depending on how the Traffic Assist is installed. In such cases, you will have to connect up an external antenna (does not fall within the scope of supply). 8QSDFNLQJ WKH 7UDIILF $VVLVW 1RWH Your Traffic Assist is supplied in stable packaging. Do not unpack the unit in full if you discover any serious damage to the packaging or its content. If this happens, please contact your local stockist. 0XVLF Thanks to the integrated MP3 player, you can listen to your favourite tracks when on the go. &KHFNLQJ WKH GHOLYHU\ Before the Traffic Assist is started up, the delivery should be checked to ensure that it is complete and in the correct condition (see also page 12). The Traffic Assist can be used as: · navigational unit · MP3 (device for playing music) · JPEG/BMP picture viewer 3LFWXUHV The Traffic Assist has a Picture Viewer offering many functions for viewing pictures. 4010 Thanks to GPS = *lobal 3ositioning 6ystem, you no longer need to spend hours searching through road atlases. Once outside buildings, the receiver antenna integrated in the unit gives you continuous access to navigational possi7 1DYLJDWLRQ &RPSODLQWV SURFHGXUH Please contact your local stockist if you have any complaints. The unit can also be sent directly to Harman/Becker in its original packaging. 'HVFULSWLRQ RI XQLW The Traffic Assist consists of the basic unit Traffic Assist and the accessories included in the delivery. You will find photos of the individual parts under: · "Overview Traffic Assist" on page 12 1RWH The basic unit and accessories must not be opened or modified in any way. +DQGOLQJ WKH SDFNDJLQJ Keep the original packaging in a dry place, at least for the warranty period. 1RWH The packaging should be disposed of correctly in accordance with national disposal guidelines. The packaging must not be burnt. Depending on the country to which the unit is supplied, it may be possible for local stockists to accept packaging. The basic unit also contains an internal memory where a limited number of tracks and pictures can be saved even without a memory card. The power supply must satisfy the following requirements: · AC current 100-240 volts 0.2 amps 50-60 Hertz 7UDIILF $VVLVW EDVLF XQLW The basic unit comprises the entire electronics, an antenna which can be unfolded to receive GPS signals, a touch screen for communication, an integrated loudspeaker for issuing messages during navigation, illuminated strips along the sides of the unit and various connections and interfaces. &DEOH IRU SRZHU VXSSO\ IURP FLJDUHWWH OLJKWHU This cable allows the unit to be connected up to the car's cigarette lighter. The power supply must satisfy the following requirements: · DC current 12 volts 0.5 amps 8 %DWWHU\ The batteries supplied can be used for short periods of operation when the mains section is not used. Once flat, the batteries supplied can be recharged by connecting the Traffic Assist to the power supply or by using a standard device approved by the battery manufacturer. Check the condition of the battery in the slide-in compartment on the rear of the unit. Remove flat batteries immediately and have the unit checked over by your local stockist. The batteries must satisfy the following requirements: · Size AA R6 1RWH The batteries must be disposed of in accordance with the description provided under "Disposal" on page 11. 0HPRU\ FDUG The memory card can be used as a storage medium for road atlases, musical tracks and pictures. When not in the unit, the memory card must be stored in a protected dry place away from direct sunlight in the packaging supplied. Avoid touching or dirtying the contact strip. Do not put down the memory card next to electrical devices or in the sphere of magnetic fields because they may change the saved data. Another SD memory card should be used to save pictures and MP3 files. This is not however included in the scope of supply. Once the Traffic Assist has been unpacked and checked for damage, the unit can be started up. The individual start-up stages are: · insert memory card · connect to power supply · unfold antenna (if navigation required) · switch on unit 1RWH When the unit is switched on for the first time, internal configuration takes place. This takes several minutes. Do not switch the unit off during this configuration. 4004 5011 There is a card slot on the left-hand side of the unit. The card compartment is equipped with a spring-actuated lock and ejection mechanism. 1RWHV The memory card should only ever be inserted and ejected when the unit is switched off. If the unit is not switched off, data may be lost. Navigational operations are not possible if the memory card containing card data is not inserted. If you remove this during navigation, directions to your destination will be aborted immediately. 5013 1RWHV There is a small tab on the left-hand side of the card. If this is slid in the direction indicated by the arrow, the memory card is protected and cannot be overwritten. 16 *HQHUDO RSHUDWLRQV ,QVHUWLQJ PHPRU\ FDUG X 4007 Exert a little pressure and slide the memory card into the card slot until it snaps in. 3RZHU VXSSO\ 1RWH First always switch off the Traffic Assist before connecting up or removing the power supply. (MHFWLQJ PHPRU\ FDUG The card slot ejects the card so that you can pull it out with two fingers. X Use your finger to gently press the memory card against the spring force into the card slot and then release it. The card is ejected. X Pull the memory card out and place it in its packaging without touching the contact strip. %DWWHU\ VXSSO\ The internal power supply is provided by two batteries. Their slide-in compartment can be found on the rear of the unit. The compartment has a sliding cover. Take the memory card out of its packaging without touching the contact strip or dirtying it. X Hold the memory card so that the contact strip is facing towards the unit front. X Guide the memory card into the card slot. X 5001 4004 5010 17 *HQHUDO RSHUDWLRQV 2SHQLQJ VOLGHLQ FRPSDUWPHQW X Place your finger on the corrugated surface of the cover. X Carefully slide the cover away from the antenna until the stop is reached (around 10 mm). X Lift the cover out of the housing. ,QVHUWLQJ EDWWHULHV &ORVLQJ WKH VOLGHLQ FRPSDUWPHQW X Place the sliding cover back on the housing so that the slide-in compartment remains around 10 mm open. X Grip the phone jack in its corrugated grip area and slide this into the connection socket without exerting too much force until the stop is reached. X Grip the phone jack in its corrugated grip area and slide this into the connection socket without exerting too much force until the stop is reached. 1RWH If the cigarette lighter has just been used and is still warm, wait until this has cooled down in its mounting. X $QWHQQD 8QLW DQWHQQD The antenna is linked to the unit by a hinge and can be folded in and out. &RQQHFWLQJ XS H[WHUQDO DQWHQQD An external antenna can be connected up to allow for reception in closed spaces (does not fall within scope of supply). There is a connection socket (which can be covered) on the top of the antenna for this purpose. If an external antenna is not connected up, this connection should always be covered again. 4005 4003 When the Traffic Assist is not being used for navigation, the antenna should always be folded against the casing. The antenna only needs to be roughly horizontal for navigational operations. 1RWH Do not try to forcefully increase the antenna's swivel range. This will not enhance reception and could break off the antenna. Plug the plug adapter into the cigarette lighter. 1RWH If the engine is switched off, using the vehicle's power supply through the cigarette lighter will slowly drain the vehicle battery! Do not therefore operate the Traffic Assist for extended periods with the engine off. Open the cover by gently pulling its exposed handle. X Connect the external antenna up as described in the manufacturer''s instructions. X 19 *HQHUDO RSHUDWLRQV 6ZLWFKLQJ WKH 7UDIILF $VVLVW RQ RII The unit is switched on and off using the back key. The following question appears shortly thereafter: Comply with highway code 8QLW EUDFNHW The unit bracket can be used to secure the Traffic Assistdirectly to the windscreen or dashboard. 1RWH The Traffic Assist and unit bracket must not be exposed to long periods of direct sunlight. Temperatures inside the vehicle of +70 C and higher may damage parts of the bracket. 5002 5014 X If you agree with this request, press the OK key. 6ZLWFKLQJ RQ X Press the back key for a few seconds. The unit is switched on. The manufacturer's logo appears on the touch screen. 1RWH The Traffic Assist may only be used in accordance with the applicable national road traffic act! 6ZLWFKLQJ RII You can switch the unit off at any time.
