Operational Tips 545i Film Holder To enjoy many years of service from your Polaroid Model 545i Film Holder, please refer to these helpful tips. Polaroid Corporation Technical Publications 1265 Main Street Waltham, MA 02451 1-800-225-1618 545i film holder Operational Tips PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE Clean the rollers and the film plane after every box of film. To clean the rollers, please refer to the manual. To clean the film plane, disassemble the holder as described on the following pages and use a soft, lint-free cloth, lightly dampened with water. Never use your fingernail or anything abrasive. Regular cleaning will help ensure satisfactory performance and avoid symptoms like the following: SYMPTOMS Picture has streaks. CAUSES Separation marks at end of picture may occur when film is pulled at an angle. When film is pulled at an angle, there may be incomplete developer coverage. When film is pulled too slowly or too quickly, air may mix with developer causing voids in the image. Deposits of dirt or foreign matter on the rollers may cause spots. An end cap may have broken away from a sheet of film. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS When removing the film envelope, pull straight out. Picture is missing corners. When removing the film envelope, pull straight out. Picture has white specks. When removing the film envelope, pull smoothly, at medium speed and without hesitation. Inspect and clean the rollers as explained in the manual. To dislodge an end cap or any foreign matter, disassemble the holder as described on the following pages and carefully remove item. Picture has spots. Negative can't be removed or can't be fully inserted. 545i film holder Operational Tips DISASSEMBLY OF THE FILM HOLDER 2. Turn the unit over and open the roller cover. 1. Move the selector level to "L." 3. Using the tips of your fingers, pry both side clips off. Start at either end of each clip. Lift the back panel off. With the panel removed, you can remove foreign matter. 5. To reassemble, place the back panel onto the main unit and secure by snapping the side clips into place.
