Neuros OSD Remote Control Setup Instructions Device Code Setting Mode Manually program your OSD remote to control other devices such as your TV, VCR, cable box... Also use to reset your Neuros OSD remote to default code. 1. Hold down the "SET" and "PWR" keys simultaneously until the LED lights up, then release both keys. 2. Enter the 3 digit code corresponding to the device you wish to control (see attached list of brand codes or Enter 064 for default Neuros OSD code). Once entered, the LED will flash 5 times to indicate code was set successfully. 3. Test your equipment by attempting to control the device with the remote. The programming is complete if it works. 4. Repeat steps <1> through <3> if the programming wasn't successful or if the wrong code was entered. Note: The LED will flash 5 times then turn off when the programming is complete. The LED will remain on if there was a code setting error or if the code you entered doesn't exist. In this case, you should repeat and may want to try a different code. Device Auto Search Mode Automatically program your OSD remote to control other devices such as your TV, VCR, cable box... 1. Point the remote control at the device you want to control. 2. Hold down the "SET" and "PWR" keys simultaneously until the LED lights up. Release both keys, then press the "PWR" key again. The LED will blink and begin the auto search mode. (Note: you can exit the Auto Search mode at any time by pressing any key on the remote) 3. The remote will attempt to automatically program itself. You will know it was successful if and when it's capable of turning on/off the selected device. You must then immediately press any key to exit the Auto Search mode. 4. Repeat steps <1> through <3> if not successful of if you want to program a different device. Device Semi-Automatic Search Mode Semi-Automatically program your OSD remote to control other devices such as your TV, VCR, cable box... 1. Hold down the "SET" and "PWR" keys simultaneously until the LED lights up, then release both keys. Press "VOL+" or "VOL-" to send out the signal codes one by one. Press "VOL+" to select the next available code. Press "VOL-" to select the previous code. Press the "SET" key when you have found the correct code or want to exit the programming mode. 2. You will know you have selected the right code when the OSD remote is capable of turning the device on/off. Once you have successfully you must press the "SET" key to exit/save. 3. Repeat steps <1> through <2> if programming of keys did not complete successfully. Device Code Number Display You can see what three-digit code is currently programmed on your remote by holding down the "SET" key, then pressing number keys as follows: While holding down the "SET" and "1" keys simultaneously, count the number of times the LED blinks to determine the value of the first (or left-hand) digit . While holding down the "SET" and "2" keys simultaneously, count the number of times the LED blinks to determine the value of the second (or middle digit). While holding down the "SET" and "3" keys simultaneously, count the number of times the LED blinks to determine the value of the third (or right-hand digit). LED blinks 0 times = 0, LED blinks 1 time = 1, LED blinks 2 times = 2, LED blinks 3 times = 3...... Ex: If the Code is "068" "SET" + "1" = no blinks, "SET" + "2" = 6 blinks, "SET" + "3" = 8 blinks Device Learning Mode 1. Using the Learning Function There are 5 function keys that can be programmed using the remote of the other device you wish to control with your OSD remote. They are: "POWER","MUTE","TV/INPUT","VOL+", and "VOL-". A. Hold down the "SET" key until the LED lights up (approximately 3 seconds), then release it. B. Press the "PWR" key, the LED will blink once, and then remain on. C. Press and release the key on the OSD remote that you want to program. When the LED begins to blink, it means that the OSD remote is in the "waiting to learn mode". It will stay in this mode for 20 seconds. If it does not receive a signal from your other remote during that time (as described below), the OSD remote will exit the "waiting to learn mode", and you will need to repeat the above steps. D. With the OSD remote in the "waiting to learn mode", place the original remote control head to head with the Neuros OSD remote control. Keep the two remote controls about 5mm away from each other. Hold down the key of original remote control that you want the OSD remote to learn. When the OSD remote LED stops blinking and remains on, it means the OSD remote has learned successfully and you can release the button on the original remote. If the OSD remote has not learned the function successfully, the OSD remote LED will continue to blink. E. Repeat Steps C to D to teach your OSD remote any of the other 4 OSD function keys from the original remote. Press the "SET" key to exit the learning mode when finished. F. An OSD remote key signal will be replaced by the new signal when you learn again on the same key. G. The learned signal will be saved at code "999". You can set the OSD remote to other codes, and then set the code back to "999" if you want to restore the OSD keys to the learned functions. H. These 5 function keys (POWER, MUTE, TV/INPUT, VOL+, VOL-) will send the learned signal when the learning is successful. If not, these 5 keys will send the signal of the original brand code. 2. Clear all the learned key function A. Hold down the "SET" key for 3 seconds until the LED lights up then release the "SET" key. B. Immediately press the "SET" key again. The LED will blink once. C. Immediately press the "PWR" key again. The LED will blink 3 times then turn off. The learned signal of the 5 learning keys will be cleared. 3. Clear one of the learned key functions A. Hold down the "SET" key for 3 seconds until the LED lights up. B. Press the key you want to clear. The LED will blink once if the learned signal is cleared. C. If you want to clear other learned key functions, without releasing the "SET" key, repeat step with the other keys. Repeat until all the desired keys are cleared. D. Release the "SET" key to exit the clearing mode. The LED will turn off. Normal Controls setting Switch between two general functions of the Neuros remote to control two different devices (Default & Optional): 1. Hold the "SET" key first, then press the "HOME" key, the LED will light up for 2 seconds. 2. In these 2 seconds, press the "ENTER" key, the LED will flash 5 times to indicate the code was switched successfully. If"ENTER" is not pressed within 2 seconds, the LED will turn off automatically, and no change will be made to the code. Note: A. There are 5 function keys (POWER, MUTE, TV/INPUT, VOL+, VOL-) for TV controls, and 1 key for "SET" key, the other 36 function keys are Neuros remote control general function keys (which follow the same format as SONY VCR function keys). This is a total of 42 keys. B. The LED will blink 3 times when the batteries are inserted. C. Any time a button other than the "SET" button is pressed, the LED will blink as long as the button is sending out a signal. D. When a key is pressed and held, it will repeatedly send out the signal. E. The remote will exit the setup mode (Normal controls setting mode) if you don't press any key within 2 seconds. F. The remote will exit the setup mode (TV Code setting mode & TV Semi-Automatic Search Mode) when you don't press any key within 10 seconds. G. The remote will exit the setup mode (TV Learning Mode) if you don't press any key within 20 seconds. H. In URC TV mode, the function keys (POWER, MUTE, TV/INPUT, VOL+, VOL-) repeatedly send out a signal when held down. I. Keys programmed in learned key mode (standard format) (POWER, MUTE, TV/INPUT, VOL+, VOL-) repeatedly send out signal if held down. J. Keys programmed in learned key mode (non-standard format)(POWER, MUTE, TV/INPUT) only send one signal for every button press. Continuous press of the button(VOL+, VOL-) will repeatedly send out a signal every 37ms~130ms (Signal => Delay 37ms~130ms => Signal => Delay 37ms~130ms .....). K. For Neuros OSD keys: The remote will go into sleep mode and stop sending out a signal if the key is held longer than 10 seconds. L. TV URC or learning function keys: The remote will go into sleep mode and stop sending out signal if the key is held over 8~30 seconds (90%), 30~67 seconds (10%). Manufacturer codes: These are the codes organized by manufacturer name. Locate the manufacturer whose device you want to control with your Neuros OSD remote and use the listed code to program.
