User guide FOSTEX PD-6 - OWNERS MANUAL VERSION V2.30 SUPPLEMENT

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

8289633000 (454866) Model PD-6 Owner's manual This supplement describes the enhanced/new functionality of the PD-6 version 2.30 software. Before using the upgraded PD-6, please read this supplement along with the original and supplementary manuals. (1) The "Auto New Part." menu item has been added to the SETUP mode. The "RecIn via ExtTC" menu item has been added to the TC SETUP mode. TC frame (fSPEED=xxx.xxx-xx) information has been added to the AVID metadata. (2) (3) The file configuration of the PD-6 upgraded to version 2.30 is different from the older version PD-6. Therefore, a file which has been recorded by the upgraded PD-6 cannot be played back by the older version PD-6. The "Auto New Part." menu item has been added to the SETUP mode. The "Auto New Part." menu item newly added to the SETUP mode allows you to select whether you can continue recording across partitions or not. By setting this menu item to "On" (the default is "Off"), while recording to the optional internal hard disk (Model 9056), you can continue recording across partitions. That is, during recording, even if all space on the current partition (approximately 1.48 GB) of the optional internal hard disk drive is consumed by recording data, the PD-6 automatically creates a new file to the next partition and continues recording without interruption. Therefore, you can make long time recording which exceeds the maximum recording space of a single partition (see pages 91 and 92 of the Operation Manual for details about how to make menu item setting). Newly added "Auto New Part." menu item : While the "Auto new part." menu item is set to "On", you can make continuous recording only when recording to a partition on the optional internal hard disk. You cannot make continuous recording when recording to a DVD-RAM disk. Also note that continuous recording is not possible in the "2+4TR" or "1+5TR" mode, nor when the auto copy (IMME) or mirror recording function is active (see Version 2.0 supplement for details about the auto copy (IMME) and mirror recording functions). : To make continuous recording, the next partition to the current partition must have enough recordable space. It is recommended that no recording has been made to the next partition before making continuous recording. The "RecIn via ExtTC" menu item has been added to the TC SETUP mode. The "RecIn via ExtTC" menu item added to the TC SETUP mode allows you to select whether or not the PD-6 automatically starts recording when it receives external time code. By setting the [TC GEN] switch to "EXT (Ext Run)" and the "RecIn via ExtTC" menu item to "On" (the default is "Off"), the PD-6 automatically starts recording when it receives external time code whose frame rate matches the unit's frame rate setting (see page 84 of the Operation Manual for details about how to make menu item setting). Newly added "RecIn via ExtTC" menu item : To start recording automatically, the frame rate of the external time code must match the unit's time code frame rate setting. Check frame rate matching before you make recording. TC frame information has been added to the AVID metadata. TC frame (fSPEED=xxx.xxx-xx) information has been added to the metadata of the ALE (Avid Log Exchange) file which is used for exporting data to the AVID system. The metadata information (description information) can be viewed or edited from the "File Info." menu item in the Utility mode. See pages 111 through 113 of the Operation Manual for details about the metadata.
