The Application Picker bar (8) is always displayed and enables five favourite applications to be reached with a single tap. When moving from one application to another, the original application is closed and the data is saved. Select to go to the full Application List. All applications have a Menu Bar (9) from which you can select functions and navigate folders in the internal memory and on Memory Stick Duo. Many applications start with a list view. Simply tap once on the required item to open it and see it in detail. Scroll arrows (10) indicate when there is more information than will fit on the screen.

The standby view shows shortcuts to the most commonly used applications. These can be personalised. Rotate the Jog Dial to highlight an icon, then push inwards to select it.
The Status Bar (11) shows useful information. Tap on an icon to access more details and to change settings. Tap to show or hide the keyboard during information entry.

Getting started
Use this guide to quickly get your P910i up and running with the minimum amount of effort. See the P910i User's Guide for more detailed instructions.
Jog Dial
The Jog Dial (O) speeds up operation of the P910i in many situations. It moves in five different directions as shown on the right. The following operations will demonstrate the use of the Jog Dial: 1. Rotate the Jog Dial up and down to highlight icons on the screen (flip closed). 2. With the calendar selected, push the Jog Dial inwards. The Calendar opens rotate to step through the items. 3. Press it backwards to close the Calendar.

Preparation
1. Remove the battery compartment cover and insert your SIM card, as shown. 2. Insert the battery and replace the cover. 3. Connect the charger to the base of the P910i. The plug flash symbol must face upwards. You should keep the charger connected until the battery has had its first full charge. 4. Press the On/Off button (Q); the Power menu appears. 5. With the flip closed, press the OK key on the keypad to power on the P910i. 6. If the `Enter PIN' box appears, enter the PIN provided with the SIM card. The first time you use your P910i, a setup wizard runs to enter the basic settings.

The stylus
The stylus (H) is used to operate the touchsensitive screen. To prevent the screen becoming scratched, you should only use the stylus that is provided with the P910i. The screen is only sensitive when the flip is open. Pull the stylus upwards to remove it.
Services Some of the functions available on the P910i are dependent on availability from your network operator and service provider. Contact your service provider to check your subscription.

Memory Stick DuoTM
The P910i is supplied with a Memory Stick Duo. This is a removable memory card that extends the P910i's memory. The internal memory and the Memory Stick Duo constitute two memory areas. You can move files between these two areas, and between the areas and your PC. You can, for example, transfer MP3 music files to the memory card area from your PC. You can choose to play music in either area. Insert the Memory Stick Duo as shown in the picture. To remove, press inwards with the stylus.
Making a call
With the flip closed
Enter the phone number and press the OK key. Press the OK key to end the call. Note that you can open the Call List with the OK key and you can also quickly open Contacts by pressing and holding the key which has the first letter of the person's name.

Transferring contacts from the SIM card
To import all SIM contacts (with the flip open)
1. From Contacts, select SIM in the folders menu to the right in the menu bar. 2. Select Edit and then Copy all to Contacts.
3. Use the stylus to enter the number via the virtual keyboard. To dial the number, tap OK on the keyboard.
Personalising
There are a number of ways you can give your P910i a personal touch. For example, you can change the application shortcuts, choose a screen saver, or change themes. To change the theme 1. From the application list, tap 2. Select a theme from the list.
Control panel > Device > Themes.
To import a single SIM entry
1. From Contacts, select SIM in the folders menu to the right in the menu bar. 2. Tap the SIM entry to open it. 3. Select Edit and then Copy to Contacts.

Video and pictures
The CommuniCorder button (E) is located on the right-hand side of the P910i. 1. Press the CommuniCorder button to activate the CommuniCorder. The screen now becomes the viewfinder. 2. Select video camera or camera mode by rotating the Jog Dial. 3. The CommuniCorder button now becomes the shutter release press it to start recording video or to take a picture.

Play music
· You can listen to music and audio clips with your P910i. Simply select Music player from the list of applications and choose the track to listen to. You can listen to MP3 music both with the flip open and closed. · Use the Jog Dial to adjust the volume, or tap on the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen (when the flip is open).
Warning! The volume may be uncomfortably loud at the higher volume levels if the phone is close to your ear, or if you are using the stereo headset. Exposure to excessive volume levels may damage hearing.

4. To view a video clip, tap at the lower right side of the screen with the flip open. Tap the title to play it. Use the Jog Dial to adjust the volume, or tap on the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen. To view a picture, tap . Tap the picture to enlarge it. 5. To send a new picture or video clip in an multimedia message (MMS), tap . This will open the Messging application with the picture or video clip already added in a new message.
Synchronizing and new applications
You can synchronize email, contacts, calendar, tasks and jotter notes with corresponding applications in your PC. You can back up and restore data and also transfer files to and from your P910i. You can also load new applications.

Configuring Internet and messaging
To get the most out of your P910i, your subscription needs to comprise WAP, MMS, and email, in addition to the basic telephone with SMS. The easiest way to set up your P910i for Internet and messaging is to use automatic setup. This is done via phone set-up messages by SMS. Check your service provider's website for information or contact their support desks and ask about automatic phone set-up for Internet, email, WAP and MMS. You can also find phone set-up messages on www.SonyEricsson.com/ support When you receive a phone set-up message, just select it to start the setup. You can also set up everything manually. To send a picture in a multimedia message 1. With the flip open, tap to review your pictures.
2. Tap the picture to view it. 3. From the Pictures menu, select Send as. A menu appears. Tap the down arrow, select MMS and then tap Done. 4. You can add text or audio to the page or create more pages. Tap the picture to edit it. 5. Tap the address tab and either enter a number in the `To' field, or tap To and select from the contact list. Tap the Send button.

Messaging
Use the Messaging application to send and receive: · Text messages containing text only (SMS) or including sound and graphics (EMS). · Multimedia messages (MMS) containing any combination of text, graphics, animations, photographs, sound, and ring tones. · Email messages with optional attachments. You may also send message items from several of the P910i applications using the Send as menu option.
