Charging the battery
Your player has an integrated, rechargeable, lithium-polymer battery. Using the USB cable, plug the unit directly into an available USB port in your computer. It should take 2.5 to 3 hours to fully charge the battery. While the battery is being charged, the player will display the battery icon. NOTE: Before using the player for the first time, you must charge the battery until it is fully charged, which should take 2.5 to 3 hours. NOTE: To charge the player using a USB connection with your PC, the PC must be turned on. NOTICE: Do not attempt to replace or remove the integrated battery from the player. Doing so may damage the player permanently. Any attempt to open the player will void the warranty.
How to Transfer files to the Player
Transferring files using Windows Media Player 10/11: 1. After you connect the player to your PC, a dialogue box will appear. Select Synchronize media files to this device. 2. Drag the media files you wish to transfer from your PC to the sync list. 3. Select Start Sync to transfer files to the player.

Transferring Files using Windows Explorer: 1. Using Windows® Explorer® or the "My Computer" icon, navigate to the My Computer folder. 2. If using Windows Media Player 10, two folders: "Data" and "Media" are within MTP directory. Drag data files to the "Data" folder, drag media files to the "Media" folder. 3. If using Windows Media Player 11, only one folder, "Internal Storage", is within MTP directory that you can drag-and-drop any data or media files into.
Listening to Music
NOTE: This player can play various formats such as MP3, and WAV. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Turn the player on to enter "Music Player" screen Press the Play/Pause button to pause or resume playing a track. Press the Fast Forward/Skip Forward button to go to the next track. Press and hold the Fast Forward/Skip Forward button to fast-forward within a track. Press the Rewind/Skip Back button to go to the start of the current track, or the start of previous tracks. Press and hold the Rewind/Skip Back button to rewind within a track. Use the Scroll-up button to increase the volume. Use the Scroll-down button to decrease the volume.
Install Software from the player
Your player contains software that can be installed on your PC to help to maximize the usability of your player. An extensive owner's manual for the player is included as well as a Video Conversion Tool and a Firmware Upgrade Tool. The newest version of this software can also be downloaded from the Portable Media Player MPA-20011 Support Page at www.polaroid.com To install the software from the player: 1. Connect the player to your computer using the included USB cable. 2. Open the My Computer icon on your desktop 3. Find the Polaroid Media Player icon and open it. 4. If you see a folder with the title "Internal storage": · Double-click on Internal Storage · Locate PMPsetup.exe and double-click it 5. If you see a folder with the title "Data": · Double-click the Data folder · Drag PMPSetup.exe to your desktop · Double-click on PMPSetup.exe on your desktop 6. When the installation screen appears, click Install to start the software installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen.
NOTE: Your computer must be running the Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system and Windows Media Player 10 or later.
How To Convert Video Files
Some of your video files may need to be converted to an AVI format before they will play. A video conversion tool can be found on the device. It can also be found on the MPA-20011 Support Page at www.polaroid.com. 1. Launch the Video Conversion utility and click Get Video File button to choose the video file you wish to convert. 2. You can also choose Copy to player to load the file on the player. 3. Click the Convert button to start conversion process.
How to use the PMP Firmware Upgrade Utility
Polaroid continually works to make its products better and will occasionally release what is called a "Firmware Upgrade". You will need an internet connection to download the newest version of firmware for the player. Go to the Portable Media Player MPA-20011 Support Page at www.polaroid.com for the latest version of firmware and the Firmware Updater tool. 1. 2. 3. 4. Run the "Firmware Upgrade Utility". Connect the player to your PC using the included USB cable. The Firmware utility searches for players. Wait for the start button to appear. Click Start to begin the automatic download process. When finished, disconnect the player from your PC, the player will restart.
NOTICE: Checking the Format Data Area checkbox will format (erase) everything on your player. Check this option only when you want to format the player. Do not disconnect the player from your computer while formatting. Be sure to backup all files on your player before performing this step.
