NT-B300 Quick Start Guide STEP 1 Install the Skype Software Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet before starting installation. 1. 2. 3. 4. Insert SkyMagic CD into the CD-ROM drive. At the installation screen, click on Install Skype software to open the Skype web page. Download the latest version of Skype software from www.skype.com. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Skype software on your computer. STEP 2 - Continue Connection Instructions Disconnect your home phone from the wall jack and then plug it into the TEL port on the Gateway. Connect one end of the phone cable we provide into the LINE port on the gateway. Depending on which types of Internet connection you use (DSL or Cable), a) DSL Connection connects the other end into the phone jack on the wall via a micro-filter , which is provided with your DSL equipment. b) Cable Connection connects the other end directly into the phone jack on the wall. Connect one end of the USB cable we provide into the USB port on the gateway. Connect the other end into the USB port of your computer. Depends on your PC configuration, Window may detect new hardware and install necessary device driver automatically. And you may need to restart your computer, click OK when you are asked to do so. 5. STEP 3 - Continue If these icons are shown on your computer's system tray which is located on the right hand bottom of the screen, installation is completed. STEP 4 Add Skype Users as Contact 1. 2. Click on the Skype icon to open the Skype window. Click on the Add Contact button on Skype window and follow onscreen instructions to add your contact. Create a New Skype Account If you already have a Skype account, sign in to your account and proceed to Step 2. 1. 2. Launch the Skype software, click on Don't have a Skype Name? to open the create account window. Choose your Skype Name and password. Enter the required information (denoted by a red asterisk) and click Sign In. Make a Skype Test Call You must have a microphone and speaker connected to computer to do the test. 1. 2. Select Skype Test Call in the Contacts Tab. Click the green call button. Follow the voice instructions to test your installation. STEP 3 Install the SkyMagic Software 1. 2. Insert SkyMagic CD into the CD-ROM drive. At the installation screen, Click on Install SkyMagic software. Assign Speed Dial to Contact 1. Right-click on a contact under the Contacts Tab and select Set Speed Dial. STEP 2 Install the Skype Gateway 3. 4. Click on Open and follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer. When the following screen comes up, select Allow this program to use Skype and click OK 2. Assign a speed-dial number to contact (e.g. 10). The speed-dial number can be any number from 1 to 99. Regular Home Phone Gateway Computer 3. Repeat for each contact you want to assign speed dial. STEP 5 Make and Receive Calls While You Are at Home You can make or receive regular phone calls even when your computer is off. To make or receive Skype calls, you have to log on your Skype account. Make a Regular Phone Call Pick up your handset and dial a phone number as you usually do. Make a Skype Call 1. Pick up your handset. 2. Press the " * " button on the phone's key pad to switch to Internet mode. 3. When you hear a different dial tone. Enter the speed-dial number (e.g. 10), and then " # " key to make the call. 4. Wait for your friend to pick up the call and talk. Make a SkypeOut Call SkypeOut is a low cost way to make calls to a regular phone line using Skype. Before you can use this service, you have to buy SkypeOut credit first from Skype.com. 1. 2. 3. Pick up your handset. Press the " * " button on the phone's key pad to switch to Internet mode. When you hear a different dial tone, enter a phone number in the following format 1. STEP 6 Setup the Gateway for Remote Skype Calling Right-click on the SkyMagic icon located in your computer system tray and select Divert to open the Divert window. STEP 7 Make and Receive Calls While You Are away from Home You need to set up the Gateway in STEP 6 before you can use these features. You have to log on your Skype account and your computer should remain on. Make a Skype Call 1. 2. 3. 4. Dial the phone number that your gateway is connected to (Usually your home phone number) from your mobile or any phone. After the preset number of rings (e.g.2), gateway will pick up the call and play a greeting asking for the password. Enter your password (e.g.1234) follow by the " # " key. When you hear a different dial tone, enter the speed-dial number (e.g. 10), and then " # " key to make the call. Follow the previous Make a Skype Call, steps 7.1 to 7.3. When you hear a different dial tone. enter a phone number in the following format Make a SkypeOut Call A i ii iii iv Skype to Phone 1. 2. This feature let you receive Skype calls when you are away from home. Check the checkbox to enable this function. Click Select Contacts to select which contact are allowed to divert the call to you. Enter number of phone rings (e.g. 2) before the gateway divert the call. Enter a phone number that you want your Skype calls diverted to (e.g. your mobile number 1234567) "00" + "Country code" + "Area Code" + "Phone Number" followed by the " # " key to make the call Receive Skype Calls When your mobile or any other phone rings, just pick it up and answer the call as usual. Listen to Voice Mail While You Are Back 1. 2. Open the Divert window as described in step 6.1. Click on the PSTN VoiceMails button "00" + "Country code" + "Area Code" + "Phone Number" For example, if you want to make a call to your friend in Berlin, Germany and his phone number is 1234567. You have to enter 00 49 30 1234567 followed by the " # " key to make the call No matter where you are and where you want to call, you have to follow this dial format to make a SkypeOut call. Receive Regular / Skype Internet Calls When the phone rings, just pick up the handset and answer the call as usual. The gateway will automatically detect and switch to the correct channel. If the area code of your mobile is different from the number that the Gateway connects to, you have to include the area code. (e.g. 1 626 1234567) B Phone to Skype This feature lets you make Skype or SkypeOut calls from your mobile or any other phones when away from home. i. ii. iii. 2. Check the checkbox to enable this function. Enter number of phone rings (e.g. 2) before the Gateway divert the call. Enter a password (e.g. 1234) to protect unauthorized use of this function. 3. Select voice mail, if any, and click play to listen to the voice mail. Click OK to Exit
