Quick Start Guide Welcome to the Nokia 6030 phone! Printed in Mexico. All screen images are simulated. 1 1 2 Check it out! 1 Power key Press and hold to turn the phone on or off. Press and release to change profiles. Call key Dials a phone number or answers a call. From the standby mode, press once to access your recently dialed numbers or press twice to redial. End key Ends the active call or exits from any function. Right and left selection keys Press to activate the menu option shown above each key. From the standby mode, these keys act as customizable shortcuts to your most commonly used features. 4-way navigation key with center selection key From the standby mode, use the 4-way navigation or center selection key for instant access to: Text editor Inbox Games & Apps Phonebook Menu 3 4 4 5 2 3 5 Actual size 2 Install the SIM card and battery Your Nokia 6030 phone uses a SIM card that provides access to your wireless service. A SIM card allows you to transfer your service to a compatible mobile phone and maintain access to the information stored on your SIM card, such as contact information. fig. 2.1 a. b. Install the SIM card and battery 1. With the back of the phone facing you, remove the battery cover (fig. 2.1). 2. Open the SIM card door by pressing the release button and lifting the door up (fig. 2.2a). 3. Place the SIM card into the card slot with the gold-colored contacts facing down (fig. 2.2b). Tip! Use the beveled edge as a guide for installation. 4. Snap the SIM card door into place. 5. Align the gold-colored contacts of the battery with the battery compartment contacts (fig. 2.3a). 6. Slide the battery into the slot, gold-colored contact side first. 7. When the contacts meet, press the battery into place (fig. 2.3b). 8. Slide and lock the back cover into place. Charge the battery 1. Plug the Nokia ACP-12U charger into a standard AC wall outlet. 2. Connect the charger cable to the bottom of the Nokia 6030 phone (fig.2.4). NOTE: Allow the battery to fully charge before using your Nokia 6030 phone. After your phone is fully charged, turn it on. You will be prompted to set the time and date. b. fig. 2.2 a. fig. 2.3 fig. 2.4 3 Create your phone book The Nokia 6030 phone has the contact management features you need to stay in touch. Store up to 500 contacts in the phone book and set up to 8 numbers with 1-touch dialing. Create and save a contact 1. Press the scroll key down to access Names (fig. 3.1). ( ) 2. Press Options. ( ) 3. Scroll to and select Add new contact (fig. 3.2). ( )( ) 4. Enter the contact name and press OK. ( ) 5. Enter the contact phone number and press OK. ( ) Tip! To add more information to the contact, select Options > Add detail. 1-touch dialing Assign a speed dial number to your frequent contacts and call the number with the press of a button. Once assigned, press and hold the corresponding number until dialing begins. Assign 1-touch dialing to a contact 1. Press Menu. ( ) 2. Scroll to and select Phonebook (fig. 3.3). ( )( ) 3. Scroll to and select 1-touch dialing (fig. 3.4). ( )( ) 4. Scroll to highlight an (empty) speed dial number. ( ) 5. Press Assign. ( ) 6. Press Find. ( ) 7. Scroll to highlight contact and press Select. ( )( ) NOTE: If 1-touch dialing is not active, you will be prompted to activate it. The raised keypad and comfortable 4-way navigation key supports a durable feel and smooth maneuvering for any task. Make a call 1. Press the scroll key down to access Names. To dial a number not in your contact list, enter the phone number (including area code) and press the Call key (fig. 4.2). ( ) If multiple numbers exist for the contact, scroll to highlight the correct number and press the Call key. Speakerphone While on a call, press the right selection key labeled Loudsp. Scroll to and select Music & Sounds. ( 5. Select the desired HiFi Ringers category. ( 6. Scroll to and select the desired ringtone. ( 7. Select ACCEPT. ( ) ) 8. Select OK to download. Compatible with all the popular instant messaging services, you can communicate instantly with friends and family. Sign on to Instant Messaging Service Before you can start using an Instant Messaging service on your phone, you will need an account. If you do not already have one, you can sign up for free online at the following websites: · MSN Messenger: www.msn.com · AOL Instant Messenger: www.aim.com · Yahoo! Messenger: www.messenger.yahoo.com · ICQ: www.icq.com 1. Press Menu. ( ) )( ) 2. Scroll to and select IM (fig. 6.1). ( 3. Select your Instant Messaging service (fig. 6.2) and follow the prompts to sign in. ( ) NOTE: Passwords are case-sensitive. Press the # key to toggle between upper and lower case. Tip! You can simplify signing-in to Instant Messaging by setting your phone to automatically connect.
