Quick Start Guide for Operation of the WX-67 First Alert Weather Radio Front view Alert Toggle Switch Toggle switch to turn alert off and on. Keep on to hear weather alerts and warnings at all times. Function knob Rotate to make selections from program menus. Weather Radio On/Off Button Push on to hear weather report information. Push again to turn off. Stop Alert Tone Push to stop alert tone after warning has sounded. Volume control knob Rotate to raise and lower the volume. Enter Key Push to enter and exit menus displayed on LCD screen Program Key Press to begin and end programming mode. Function Arrow Keys Press to move through menu selections and to set clock and location codes. Rear view AC/DC power adapter Plug into 120V AC outlet. Provides 12V DC 200 ma to power unit. Remote Alert Jack Plug in remote alert unit. See manual for details. Alert Audio Output Connect to Public Address system. See manual for details. Ext. Antenna Connect to external antenna. Telescoping Antenna Extend and re-position to improve reception Battery Select Toggle Switch Set to Non-rechargeable (NB). if using 9V non-rechargeable alkaline battery Set to: Rechargeable (RB). if using 9V rechargable NiMH battery (over) Quick and Easy Programing of the First Alert WX-67 for maximum emergency alert protection Setting the Clock 1. Press the Program button 2. Press the Right Arrow Key 4 times. "Setting Clock" will appear in LCD window. 3. Press the Enter button. 4. Time will appear in LCD window. Minutes will begin flashing. Set the proper minutes using the Function Knob to scroll up or down. 5. Press the Right Arrow Key to select hours. Set the proper hours using the Function Knob. AM & PM will change automatically. 6. Press Enter. Clock is now set. 7. Press Program button to return radio to normal operation. Advanced programming Setting specific county (SAME) codes A 6-digit code identifies each county. You must set the county codes two digits at a time. To set the code for your county: 1. Press the Program button once. 2. Press the Right Arrow key 3 times. "Enter Loc Code" will appear in the LCD window and begin flashing. 3. Press the Enter button. 4. "Loc 1" followed by a 6-digit number will flash in the LCD window. 5. To change this number to your code, press Enter again. The first two digits will begin to flash. 6. Turn the Function Knob to select the first two numbers of the code you want to enter. 7. Press the Right arrow key. The next two digits will begin to flash 8. Use the Function Knob to select the next two digits of your code. 9. Press the Right arrow key. The last two digits will begin to flash. Use the Function Knob to select the last two digits of your code. 10. Press the Enter button to save the code 11. Press the Program button to return to normal operation Setting the Channel NOAA broadcasts on 7 channels. Follow the steps below to select the best channel for your area 1. Press the On/Off button to turn the radio on. Adjust Volume to your preference. 2. Press the Program button once. "Channel Select" will appear in LCD window. 3. Press the Enter button. 4. Use the Function Knob to select the correct channel in your area. * See note below. 5. Press the Enter button. The area channel is now set. 6. Press the Program button to return to normal operation. Setting the universal alarm code This radio is pre-programmed to receive all alarms within its range. The universal alarm code is 999999. To verify or set the universal code: 1. Press the Program button. 2. Press the Right Arrow Key 3 times. "Enter Loc Code" will appear in the LCD window. 3. Press the Enter button. Loc 1" followed by 999999 will flash in the LCD window. If so, go to step 8. If not, continue. 4. Press the Enter button again. The first two digits in the code will begin to flash. 5. Use the Function Knob to set the two digits to 99. 6. Press the Right Arrow button to select the next two digit set. Repeat step 5. 7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 to complete the code. Press the "Enter" button to save. 8. Press the Program button to return to normal operation. * If you are not sure which channel or local code to set your weather radio to, call NOAA at 1-888-697-7263 (SAME) or visit their website at: http//www.nws.noaa.gov.nwr/indexnw.htm. ...
