NETGEAR RT311 and RT314 Gateway Routers Version V3.20(M.01)b2 for RT311 Version V3.20(CA.1)b3 for RT314 8/18/2000 This note describes enhancements and bug fixes incorporated in an incremental release of the RT311 and RT314 RAS software version V3.20. The enhancements and fixes are those added since the initial RAS software release V3.20 dated 6/15/2000. New Features Overview Port Forwarding is Configurable Using Your Browser A port forwarding page has been added to the Advanced configuration area of the browser-based configuration menus. PPPoE User Name Length Increased Although the internal interface allows PPPoE User Names of 45 characters, the browser interface previously only allowed 30. Added Outgoing Authentication in Menu 11.1. Fixed Bug: DHCP Client renew a different IP will cause NAT connection to fail. Modify the FTP server's RAS code file attribute. Fixed Bug: ICMP and traceroute will lose packets in NAT. Fixed Bug: Watchdog enable will cause backup configuration file to fail. Fixed Bug: Tracelog will cause system to hang. Fixed Bug: Dropchute will cause system crash. Fixed Bug: ICMP data size over 1474 will be dropped. Fixed Bug: Watchdog enable will cause FTP/TFTP firmware upload failure. Modify DDNS update mechanism. (We will save update timestamp and update IP address). Added "sys wdog sw on" in autoexec.net to enable hardware watchdog timer. Fixed Bug: Can't access WAN IP address when DHCP changes IP address. Fixed Bug: Lose packets when Pinging WAN address. Fixed Bug: Removing DNS Server setting in Menu 3.2 will cause DNS proxy failure. 1 Upgrading to the new software Instructions on loading new software to the router are given in the Reference Guide to the RT311 and RT314 Gateway Routers and in an application note on the Resource CD for RT311 and RT314. The upgrade files are: 320m01b2.bin 320m01b2.rom FOR RT311 This is the main router software, to be uploaded with the 'atur' command, or loaded by FTP into file 'ras'. FOR RT311 This is the factory default config file, to be uploaded with the 'atur3' command, or loaded by FTP into file 'rom-0'. FOR RT314 This is the main router software, to be uploaded with the 'atur' command, or loaded by FTP into file 'ras'. FOR RT314 This is the factory default config file, to be uploaded with the 'atur3' command, or loaded by FTP into file 'rom-0'. 320ca1b3.bin 320ca1b3.rom IMPORTANT -- Notes on the upgrade: · · Version 3.20 software will not work with any previously released FirstGear configuration software. You can use either the serial port or TFTP for installing this upgrade. If your existing software version is 2.50 or greater, you can use FTP. Also, if you are upgrading from version 2.50 or earlier, you must load the new .rom default configuration file after loading the new software. Since the new configuration file will erase your existing configuration information, please write down all your configuration info before upgrading. 2
