It includes all modifications made since version 6.1.2. Installation Recommendation: Platform All Upgrade Recommendation Recommended Comment Please refer to the information below for details. Supported Platforms VOS version 6.5.3 is released for the following V2IU products: · · · · · · 4300T 5300-E10 5300-E25 5300-S10 5300-S25 6400-S85 New Features · Added support for Microsoft Live Communication Server 2005. This support provides address translation, QoS, call monitoring and call admission control for media streams. Please note that in addition to configuration on the V2IU this application requires installation of an additional Polycom Proxy Application. The Proxy Application is an LCS filter that runs as a Windows Service on the Microsoft Access Proxy. Add VLAN support to 5300 and 6400 platforms. Existing 5300s and 6400s now support VLANS on their LAN interface. · · · · Retain license key across factory reset. The V2IU VOS license key will no longer be erased by a factory-default reset of a V2IU. RTP inactivity timer. The V2IU now provides a background process that will clean up unused RTP ports for calls that terminate abnormally. Enhanced PPPoFR to support Covad brand T1 links. Passed Covad certification for T1 interoperability. Provided necessary VOS changes to support Covad's multiple DLCI, PPPoFR configuration. Enable RADIUS support on 5300 and 6400. Added per-call maximum bandwidth limit for H.323. User can now configure the per-call maximum bandwidth that an endpoint is allowed to use. If the endpoint requests more bandwidth, the call is rejected. Provide H.323 support for a LAN-side gatekeeper that uses direct-routed signaling method (vs gatekeeper-routed signaling). Provides support for Cisco MCM gatekeeper. Provide Polycom-specific Survivability features. These features apply to Polycom phones that use a softswitch's Shared Call Appearance feature combined with Polycom's · · · · Fixes and Enhancements · · · Fixed a problem with the "tail" command that was preventing the H.323 activity log in the GUI from being displayed. Improved synchronization between Network page and VLAN page. First VLAN is kept in sync with non-VLAN Network page. Prevents loss of connectivity if VLANs are enabled before configuring VLAN page. Improved DHCP GUI page and fixed VLAN / non-VLAN modes inconsistency o DHCP page now automatically displays the subnet address and allows entry of the host range only o DHCP page uses same syntax for both VLAN and non-VLAN modes. Enhanced V2IU-E's FTP Server for delivering configuration files to phones via FTP: o Allow the creation of user-specified FTP user names and passwords. These names work for FTP only (not shell access). o Allow read/write access for upload of phone logs. o Provide auto-delete of log files using user-specified filename wildcards. Prevents log files from filling up FTP ramdisk. Enhanced Clients List Lockdown function to support dynamically-assigned phone IP addresses. o Renamed Client's List Lock function on GUI to use phrase "Allow Shared Usernames". For upgrades to 6.4 from earlier versions, Allow Shared Usernames defaults to on (the prior implicit behavior). For new boxes (or factory-default resets) the values are: Enable Clients List Lock defaults to off, Allow Shared Usernames defaults to off. o Bug 846: Stop loop of ACK/Forbidden messages when new Polycom phone attempted call before URI was (manually) added to Clients List. o Bug 847: Ensure clients list file is written to flash immediately after a manual GUI update. Provided ability to display DHCP leases. Enable NTP by default and point towards time.nist.gov. Page 2 of 6 Polycom RN653.doc · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · Sony H.323 endpoints now supported in Embedded Gatekeeper mode. Sony endpoints sends keep alive RRQ with the E.164 field empty, V2IU-E will now remember E.164 value sent in original RRQ. Added GUI warning that SNAT mapping will only take affect if firewall is enabled. Added support for uudecode. Added graphical link status to VLAN page. Provided usability improvements to Add VLAN portion of VLAN GUI page Provided support for large multi-packet SIP UDP messages. Allows support for Broadsoft Busy Lamp Field feature using MIME-based XML-containing SIP messages. Fix bug where FTP usernames were allowed as RADIUS usernames, they should not be allowed. Fix bug preventing VIP support with V2IU-S. Fix bug causing black spots on GUI when logged in as rouser. Fix problem where ALG would sometimes not use the proper LAN IP address when switching between VLAN enabled and disabled modes. Fix problem preventing VOS v6.1.6 from fitting into 4200 filesystem. Fix problem where H.323 "Gatekeeper unreachable" syslog messages were incorrectly generated when not in WAN Gatekeeper mode. Bug 842: Limit GUI passwords to 8 characters, since this is the underlying system limit. Bug 830: Fix problem when in Local mode, where placing a call on hold between two Polycom phones and then taking off hold resulted in no audio. Bug 829: Limit 2nd DLCI support to PPPoFR, which is the only configuration where it is supported. Bug 801: Fix problem where a change in DNS entries on Network page were not propagated to the VLAN-based DHCP server. The DHCP server will now properly offer the new DNS IP addresses. Bug 796: Fix problem when using FSR non-Registrar mode the Contact header in a Register response was not properly translated. It will now properly contain the endpoint's address. Bug 889: Fix problem where RADIUS support failed after a period of time. Problem was related to port ranges used by SSH client that increments over time; was entering a range not supported by firewall rules. Provided necessary rules to ensure firewall handles such behavior. Bug 464: Fix problem where V2IU-E might not boot for 1 hour. Was due to a problem with the RTC (real-time clock) driver. This fix fully addresses this issue. Bug 896: Fix bug where a call failed to connect when an Ack was lost in the network and was immediately followed by a reInvite. Now properly handle this network error, ensuring a phone's repeated 200 OK reaches the softswitch resulting in a resend of the Ack. Bug 673: Enhanced ALG to allow coexistence with VPN-based default routes. A VPN default route can now be specified; data will use this default route while the ALG will use the standard (non-VPN) default route. Bug 793: Fix bug where Call Park feature failed when original phone was rung back and handset was lifted after 2nd ring. Bug 707: Changed V2IU-E Trap OID to be the proper Edgewater Networks registered value. Bug 813: Fix bug where Fractional T1 link could not be set back to full T1. Bug 836: Fix bug where MIME-encoded SIP body was not properly modified by ALG. Fix bug where MGCP Survivability ping was not properly using the msg "disconnected". Bug 491: Fix problem preventing Fractional E1 support. Bug 775: Fix bug causing crash during sipp tests. Bug 766: Fix bug that occurred over satellite-based WAN link, causes 404 response to be returned when processing an incoming 401 response message. Bug 756: Fix bug where certain phones would not boot when V2IU-E was in local mode. Caused by use of DNS name in DHCP Server parameters. The DNS name lookup timeout (due to WAN failure) exceeded the DHCP request time. Fix by not resolving DNS names in DHCP requests when in local mode, skip those Options in response message. Page 3 of 6 Polycom RN653.doc · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · Fix bug where LAN-side GW with multiple DIDs was causing constant update of Clients List. Stop this updating from occurring. Fix a problem where systems with WAN DHCP enabled would not get a WAN IP address when they were upgraded to 6.1.0. Improved GUI layout of VLAN page. Changed position of the default untagged vlan field to remove confusion about what to enter for vlan id. Added help text for "Interpret error code as success" field on Survivability page. Added text in GUI to state that CAC limits should not be used when H.323 is licensed. Hide Subinterfaces page on V2IU-S since it is not supported through the GUI. Provide H.323 support for inbound Location Requests (LRQs) on the V2IU-E's WAN when the V2IU-E is operating in Embedded Gatekeeper mode. o This feature is intended to provide support for interoperability with the Vcon Gatekeeper. o Note that this feature does not provide support for outbound calls from LAN-side clients. Full neighboring support for the V2IU-E's embedded gatekeeper is not yet provided. Add support for use of a SIP port number provided in DNS SRV record lookup. H.323 bandwidth fixes: o Save and display entered maximum total bandwidth. Previously displayed a calculated value which showed rounding error. o Correctly show total bandwidth, even a maximum isn't enforced. o Apply the system-wide maximum bandwidth cap, if specified. Fix bug where Set Link page always displayed a link rate of Autonegotiate, even if previously configured differently. Fix memory leak in H.460 support Correction to a prior fix addressing ALG crash when softswitch references RTP connections no longer known to the ALG Fixed a problem caused by survivability logging filling up the /var filesystem. The full filesystem prevented phones from registering even if the V2IU-E was operating in Remote mode. Unnecessary logging has been disabled to prevent filling up the filesystem. Fixed AUEP flooding problem with MGCP survival ping client. Fix bug where PPPoFR link, when configured from factory default state, would not come up. Start up T1 for PPPoFR even when WAN_IP never set. Fix bug in V2IU-S systems firewall preventing VRRP from operating. Known Issues · Minimum Cisco SIP software versions: 1. 7960/7940: Version 6.0/7.3 (or later) 2. 7905/7912: Version 1.3 (or later) 3. ATA-186: Version 3.2.1 (or later) Earlier versions of Cisco code have known bugs/limitations that are incompatible with VOS v5.4.1 and later. NOTES: 1. As of VOS 5.4.1 and above, it is mandatory to upgrade the firmware on Cisco 7912 / 7905 / ATA-186 to the recommended versions. Otherwise, calls will not complete correctly. 2. Cisco 7960 / 7940 running the v6.0 firmware is still compatible with VOS 5.4.1 and above, if you are not using the Flexible SIP Routing's Transparent mode functionality. If you are using Transparent mode, it is mandatory to upgrade to the 7.3 firmware on these phones. Page 4 of 6 Polycom RN653.doc · VLAN Configuration (4300 Series) 1. Upon enabling VLANs, only LAN Port 4 will be added to the default VLAN. If your browser PC is connected to a different port you will lose access to the GUI (until moving to Port 4). 2. Upon enabling VLANs, The default VLAN's IP address will become 192.168.1.1 (regardless of the LAN IP address prior to enabling VLANs). If your LAN and browser had been reconfigured to a different subnet you will lose access to the GUI (until changing to 192.168.1.x). 3. The VoIP ALG page must be reconfigured to associate the ALG with an appropriate VLAN. Prior to this the ALG will keep restarting. 4. The DHCP Server page must be configured, it does not default to the values used prior to VLANs 5. Upon deleting a VLAN the DHCP Server must be re-enabled for the remaining VLANs. · LAN link up/down SNMP traps for 4200 and 4300 are supported for LAN port 1 only. · Dial-plan download limitation with multiple levels of cascaded V2IU-Ss and V2IU-Es. Dialplan download is a Survivability feature where, using Broadsoft switches, the V2IU will automatically download the subscriber dial-plan when a phone registers with the softswitch. This dial-plan is then used during Local survivability mode. This download feature will only work for the "WAN-most" V2IU-E in a cascade of V2IU-Ss and V2IU-Es. · It is not possible to manually set an MTU size on the 4200 and 4300 platforms. · Windows Messenger support is not available. · The web server will log a successful client request/response only when the source IP address changes from the prior request. This means two requests from the same PC, even if separated significantly in time, will only have the first request logged. Similarly, requests from alternating PCs can result in extraneous syslog messages. Upgrade Instructions This version of software is available on the Polycom Support FTP site: ftp.support.polycom.com It is recommended you reboot the V2IU appliance prior to doing the upgrade. This is to make sure there is enough dynamic memory available to handle the upgrade process. When you update your software telephone services will be unavailable for several minutes. It is therefore advised that upgrades be performed during a maintenance window when telephone traffic can be interrupted. Upgrade procedure 1) Use a web browser to connect to the V2IU appliance 2) Go to Upgrade firmware use page defaults 3) Press "Submit" 4) Follow the progress of the upgrade using the "refresh the upgrade status" link. 5) When the Write process begins, please heed the warning: WARNING!!! Do not change the configuration or power off the device until the write is 100 percent complete. The device may become unusable if the write is interrupted. Page 5 of 6 Polycom RN653.doc 6) The system will automatically restart after the new image has been loaded. After the upgrade process has completed, check that the new version number is displayed on the main System page. Obtaining Further Assistance Please contact Polycom Technical Services for assistance.
