You can use the audio system on the M500 to play .MP3 and .WMA files stored on CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, Secured Digital memory cards, or the hard drive while your notebook is turned off. You can insert discs and SD memory cards into the notebook and play them using the Audio Player controls. To play songs stored on your hard drive, you must store the files on the D: hard drive, create a playlist, then use the Audio Player controls. To create the playlist for songs on the hard drive: 1 2 Turn on your notebook. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer to copy or move the music files you want to play to your D: hard drive. Help and Support For more information about copying or moving files in Windows XP, click Start, then click Help and Support. Type the keyword copying files and folders or moving files and folders in the Help and Support Search box , then click the arrow. 3 Click Start, All Programs, SMI Bluebird Playlist Editor, then click Bluebird Playlist Editor. The Playlist Editor window opens. www.gateway.com Update Using the Gateway M500 Music Player 4 5 6 7 Click Create. The Create new/Change existing dialog box opens. Type the name of the playlist in the Playlist Name box, then click OK. Click Add Audio. The Open dialog box opens. Click the file you want to add to your playlist (hold down the CTRL key when you click to select multiple files), then click OK. The songs appear in the Song Name column. Important You cannot specify the order of the songs if you use the CTRL key method. To specify the song order, add one song at a time to your playlist. 8 If you have more than one playlist, the playlist at the top of the Playlist Name column is the one that will be played. To set a different playlist to be the current playlist, click the playlist, then click Set Current. The highlighted playlist moves to the top of the Playlist Name column. To play your playlist, CD-R, DVD-R, or SD memory card: 1 2 3 4 5 Turn off your notebook. If you are playing a CD-R, DVD-R, or SD memory card, insert the disc or card. Press the AV control panel Power button to turn on the audio system. Press the Source button to select the location of your music files. It may take a few moments for the notebook to recognize a disc. Press the Play button. The track number counter will count from 01 to 99.
