Press the navigation key to the left. Press the navigation key to the right. Your phone can be connected to a computer by using the included USB cable. Depending on the purpose, File transfer or Phone mode has to be selected in the phone when connecting the USB cable. The option between these modes pops up in the phone as soon as you connect the USB cable. The Sony Ericsson PC Suite is included on the CD that comes with your phone. The PC Suite gives you a wide range of possibilities on how to use your phone with the USB cable. You will also find third party software for transferring and managing music, images and videos on the CD. See the table below for an overview of how to use the applications included on the CD. When connecting your phone to a computer with the USB cable, select File transfer in the pop-up that appears in the phone to use Windows Explorer to transfer files. For instructions see the getting started guide Managing files available at www.SonyEricsson.com/support.
Before you start
To be able to use the functions supplied by the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software you need to have the following: · Your phone with a subscription. · The included USB cable. · The included CD with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite or an Internet connection. · A computer that meets the system requirements % 4 System requirements.
System requirements
The Sony Ericsson PC Suite for your phone series is designed to work with Windows 2000 (SP3/SP4). Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro (SP1/SP2). The general system requirements are: At least 400 MB free hard disk space. Internet Explorer 5.0 or later has to be installed. · Windows 2000 with SP3 or SP4: 64 MB RAM, 266 MHz. · Windows XP (Home and Professional) with SP1 or SP2: 128 MB RAM, 300 MHz.

Install the PC Suite software
Before installation: Uninstall any applications on your computer previously used to communicate with mobile phones, such as synchronization software.
Install from the CD
To install PC Suite from the CD
1. Insert the CD that came with the phone. The CD should start automatically, if not: click Start/Run... and type in D:/start.exe and click OK (D: is the CD drive letter on the system). 2. Select language. 3. Click Install in the PC Suite section. 4. InstallShield Wizard: Click Next to continue the installation. 5. InstallShield Wizard: Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next. 6. InstallShield Wizard: Select Complete as setup type, then click Next. 7. InstallShield Wizard: Click Install to begin the installation. 8. InstallShield Wizard: Click Finish to exit the wizard. Â or Â
Download from the Web and install
To download the latest version of the PC Suite software
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In your Internet browser, go to www.SonyEricsson.com/support. Select a region and country. Select a phone from the list or enter your phone model in the text field. Select Software downloads. Select Sony Ericsson PC Suite X.X.X under PC Suite. Select Download and save the file to your computer.

Using the PC Suite
The PC Suite gives you access to the following applications: Installed by default: Requires separate installation from the CD or the Web: Â Synch manager. Â Sony Disc2Phone. Â Image Editor. Â QuickTimeTM player. Â MMS Home Studio. Â Adobe Photoshop Album SE. Â File Manager. Â Mobile Networking Wizard.
Applications in File transfer
When connecting your phone to a computer in File transfer the PC Suite gives you the possibility to use the applications marked with orange squares.
The following applications are available from PC Suite in File transfer: · Sony Disc2Phone. · QuickTimeTM player. · Adobe Photoshop Album SE. When your phone is connected to a computer in File transfer, the phone memory and Memory Stick appear as Removable Disks in Windows Explorer. Use drag-and-drop functionality to transfer files between the phone and your computer.

When connecting your phone to a computer in Phone mode the PC Suite gives you the possibility to use the applications marked with green squares.
The following applications are available from PC Suite in Phone mode: · Synch manager. · Image Editor. · MMS Home Studio. · File Manager. · Mobile Networking Wizard.
Starting the USB connection
The Sony Ericsson USB cable that comes with the phone can be used to connect a computer to your phone. To benefit from the available features in an easy way, use the phone together with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software. Do not remove the USB cable from the phone or computer during transfer, as this may corrupt the phone memory or Memory Stick.

Selecting File transfer
Select File transfer to transfer music, pictures and other files. All phone functions except alarms and alerts will be turned off. When the phone is turned off, the connection of the USB cable between your phone and computer will automatically set the phone in File transfer.
To select File transfer
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Connect the USB cable to your phone and the computer. Computer: If the Found New Hardware Wizard appears. click Cancel to exit the wizard. Phone: When your phone is turned on, } File transfer in the pop-up. Wait for the phone to prepare for file transfer. Computer: If a dialogue box asks what you want to do with the files on the removable disks (the phone memory and Memory Stick), select Take no action. 6. Computer: Your phone memory and Memory Stick are added as removable disks in Windows Explorer. For safe disconnection of the USB cable in File transfer, right-click on both Removable Disk icons in Windows Explorer and select Eject. A pop up will appear in the phone saying that it is safe to disconnect the USB cable.
Selecting Phone mode
Select Phone mode to synchronize with a computer or to use the phone as a modem.
To select Phone mode
1. 2. 3. 4. Connect the USB cable to your phone and the computer. Phone: select Phone mode in the pop-up. Wait for the drivers to be installed (this is done automatically). Your phone is ready to be used with the PC Suite. Do not remove the USB cable from the phone or computer during transfer, as this may corrupt the phone.
Changing between Phone mode and File transfer
To change from File transfer to Phone mode 1. Computer: Right-click on both Removable Disk icons in Windows Explorer and select Eject.
2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. A pop up will appear in the phone saying that it is safe to disconnect the USB cable. Phone: Remove the USB cable. Start the phone. Phone: If the Start-up menu is activated, } Start phone in the pop-up. Connect the USB cable to your phone and the computer. Phone: select Phone mode in the pop-up. Your phone is ready to be used with the PC Suite.

To change from Phone mode to File transfer 1. Phone: } Settings } the Connectivity tab } USB connection } File transfer.
2. Wait for the phone to prepare for file transfer. 3. Your phone is ready to be used with the PC Suite.
