Press the navigation key to the right. } When sending a video or picture message you use a service called MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service), which is an extension of SMS (Short Message Service). MMS allows you to send messages containing text, pictures, video clips, camera pictures and sound recordings to mobile phones and/or email addresses. Take a picture with the camera, add text and some appropriate sounds to send to someone you want to share the moment with. Easy and fun. Before you start Before you start sending video or picture messages, you need to activate the service and enter the correct phone settings. These settings may already be entered when you buy the phone. If not, the settings can be received in two ways: · Automatically by using the Sony Ericsson Phone setup for MMS at www.sonyericsson.com/support. · Automatically through your service provider. Receive settings using the MMS Phone setup You will find the MMS Phone setup at www.sonyericsson.com/support. Select region and country or Global Support Area. Enter your phone model and choose Phone setup and then MMS. To follow the instructions, you need the following information: · Country (the country you are in). · Name of service provider. · MMS provider (the service provider's MMS service). 2 December 2006 Getting started Video and picture messaging (MMS) Follow the instructions on the computer screen. Settings are sent to your phone in a text message via SMS. When you receive the text message } Yes and enter the PIN code you received on the Web page to install your new settings. You are now ready to send picture messages using MMS. Receive settings from your service provider Check your service provider's Web site for information or contact their support desk and ask about automatic remote configuration of MMS. If remote configuration is possible, settings are sent in a text message via SMS. When you receive the text message, you simply } Yes to install your new settings. Compose and send a video or picture message Compose a message with pictures, text, sounds, video clips and camera pictures to send to your friends. Compose and send a picture message 1. } Messaging } Write new } Picture msg and type in the text for the message. 2. } More. The following options appear: · Add symbol ­ Add a symbol to the message. · Writing options ­ Choose to edit the Text format, select the Writing language, activate the Dictionary (T9), check My words, acivate Next word pred. and to display word Suggestions. · Spell word ­ Spell a word and add it to My words. · Copy & paste ­ Copy text and paste it. · Slide ­ Add slides to the picture message. · Layout ­ Edit background, Text position. · Advanced ­ Attachments, Add signature, Add template. · Info ­ T9 help, Writing tips, Message tips. 3. To add content to the message press and select Add picture, Add video, Add sound, Camera or Record sound by pressing or . 4. Select the content you want to add. You can only add one of each media type per page, so if you add more items of the same type to your message, a new page is added where the new item is inserted. 5. To preview the message before sending it press and select Preview. 6. When you have finished composing your message } More } Continue to send the message. 7. } Enter phone no. and enter the recipient's phone number, or } Contacts look-up to retrieve a number or a group from your contacts. To enter an email address } Enter email addr. A list below the send options shows the last 10 recipients. You can also select a recipient from this list. 8. You can select different options when sending a picture message. For more information on Default message options and Additional send options see below. To enter an email address } Enter email addr. 4. } Send. Default message options Edit the default settings for your picture messages. Edit default message options 1. } Messaging } Settings } Picture message. 2. Select among the following options: · Validity period ­ If your message cannot be delivered, for example, if the recipient has turned off the phone, your service centre can save the message to send it later. Set the time for how long to try to re-send failed messages. Select between 1 hour, 12 hours, 1 day, 1 week or Network maximum. · Read report ­ Request the recipient to confirm that your message has been read. Turn On or Off. · Delivery report ­ Receive confirmation that your message has been delivered. Turn On or Off. · Signature ­ It is possible to have a signature situated last in the message. · Creation mode ­ Select settings for what to allow in picture messages. Some content in picture messages might be difficult for recipients to view. Select between Unlimited, Alert or Limited. · Picture scaling ­ Select a lower resolution to get a smaller picture size. Select between Off, 640 x 480, 320 x 240 or 160 x 120. · Auto download ­ Control when messages can be sent and downloaded when moving in and out of home and roaming networks. Select between Always, Ask in roaming, Not in roaming, Always ask or Off. · Accept messages ­ Mark which messages you want to accept and download, such as Advertisements and Anonymous. · MMS profile ­ Select or create Internet settings to be used specifically with picture messaging. Additional send options Before sending a picture message, you can set different options for the message. You can, for example, send a copy of the message to another recipient, set priority of the message and add an attachment. These settings only apply to the current message, to change the default settings % 4 Default message options. Edit additional send options 1. When you have created a message and selected the recipient's phone number } More. 2. } Add recipient to add recipients. } Edit recipients to enter the following: · To ­ Add a phone number, or an email address, or retrieve the information from your contacts. · Cc ­ Send a copy of the message to another recipient. Phone number or email address. 4 December 2006 Getting started Video and picture messaging (MMS) · Bcc ­ Add a phone number or an email address that will not be visible to the other recipients who receive a copy of the message. } Edit subject ­ Enter or edit the title of the message. } Advanced to enter the following: · Delivery report: ­ Receive confirmation that your message has been delivered. Turn On or Off. · Read report: ­ Request the recipient to confirm that your message has been read. Turn On or Off. · Read report: ­ If your message cannot be delivered, for example, if the recipient has turned off the phone, your service centre can save the message to send it later. Set the time for how long to try to re-send failed messages. Select between 1 hour, 12 hours, 1 day, 1 week or Network maximum. · Priority: ­ Set priority for the message. Select Low, Normal or High. · Delivery time: ­ Set delivery time for the message. Select Immediate or enter date and time. 3. } Send to send the message. Here you will find the MMS Web Studio, where you can create picture messages online with sounds, pictures and text. It is similar to a slideshow ­ you decide when, where and how your content will appear, then save your own messages in My MMS, and use them again and again. MMS Home Studio You will also find the MMS Home Studio at www.sonyericsson.com/support. Download and install the software, then start creating picture messages on your own computer. You can download the MMS templates you create to your phone.
