Press the navigation key right. } Overview You can add music to your phone by using a computer connected to your phone via the USB cable. Use one of the following to transfer music from a computer to your phone: · · · · Disc2Phone, which is included on the CD that comes with your phone Windows® Explorer Windows® Media® Player iTunesTM For information on how to use Windows® Media® Player or iTunesTM please see the user information for the software. Installing Disc2Phone The Disc2Phone software enables you to transfer music from CDs or your computer to your phone. You can also download Disc2Phone from www.sonyericsson.com/support. Disc2Phone requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 (these are available on the CD and can be installed if needed). 2 December 2006 Getting started Walkman® System requirements The general system requirements are: · · · · · At least 500 MB free hard disk space. Windows 2000 (SP3/SP4): 128 MB RAM, 500 MHz. Windows XP (SP1/SP2): 256 MB RAM, 500 MHz. Internet connection (for application activation and Gracenote CD identification). .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 (is available on the CD and can be installed if needed). Installing from the PC Suite CD It is recommended that you install PC Suite before installing Disc2Phone. To install Disc2Phone from the PC Suite CD 1. Insert the CD that came with the phone. The CD should start automatically, if not: click Start/Run... and type in D:/start.exe and click OK (D: is the CD drive letter on the system). 2. Select language. 3. Click Install in the Disc2Phone section. 4. If needed, follow the instructions to install .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 from the CD. 5. In the installation wizard: Click Next to continue the installation. 6. Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next. 7. Click Next to install to the default folder. 8. Click Install to begin the installation. 9. Click Finish to exit the wizard. When you start Disc2Phone for the first time, the software needs to be activated. Enter your email address in the text field and click Register to activate the software. Downloading from the Web and installing It is recommended that you install PC Suite before installing Disc2Phone. To download the latest version of Disc2Phone 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In your Internet browser, go to www.sonyericsson.com/support. Select a region and country. Select a phone from the list or enter your phone model in the text field. Select Software downloads. Select Disc2Phone Setup X.X.X.X for your preferred language under Applications. Double-click the downloaded Disc2Phone file. If needed, follow the instructions to download and install .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 from the Internet. Connecting the USB cable Before you can begin transferring music to your phone, you need to establish a connection between your phone and your computer. The Sony Ericsson USB cable that comes with your phone can be used to connect the computer and the phone. Your phone can be either on or off when you connect the USB cable. If the phone is on, select File transfer in the pop-up that appears on the phone. To connect your phone to a computer with the USB cable 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Connect the USB cable to your phone and computer. Computer: If the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, click Cancel to exit the wizard. Phone: When your phone is on, } File transfer in the pop-up. Wait for your phone to prepare for file transfer. Computer: Your phone memory and Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM) are added as removable disks in Windows® Explorer. Computer: If a dialog box asks what you want to do with the files on the removable disks (the phone memory and memory card), select Take no action. 4 December 2006 Getting started Walkman® 7. Use one of the following to transfer music: · Disc2Phone % 5 Using Disc2Phone to transfer music · Windows Explorer % 6 Using Windows® Explorer to transfer music Transferring music Using Disc2Phone to transfer music To transfer music using Disc2Phone 1. Make sure the USB cable is connected to the computer and the phone. % 4 Connecting the USB cable. 2. Start Disc2Phone from PC Suite by clicking the Disc2Phone icon, or double-click the shortcut to Disc2Phone on your desktop. When you start Disc2Phone for the first time, the software needs to be activated. Enter your email address in the text field and click Register to activate the software. 3. Select My Music, Audio CD or My Computer as the music source. 4. Locate and select the folder with the tracks you want to transfer. 5. Add tracks to the Transfer List: · To add all the tracks from the folder, click Add. · To add specific tracks from the folder, open the folder, mark the tracks and click Add. Tracks found on a music CD will be displayed in the Transfer List. 6. Select the location to transfer the tracks to in the drop-down list (Removable Disk). 5 December 2006 Getting started Walkman® 7. Click Transfer to transfer the tracks from the Transfer List to your phone. 8. For information on transferring music, please refer to Disc2Phone Help. Click of the Disc2Phone window. in the top right corner Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer as this may harm the phone memory or memory card. 9. Close the Disc2Phone software, right-click both Removable Disk icons in Windows Explorer and select Eject to disconnect the USB cable. A pop-up will appear in the phone saying that it is safe to disconnect the USB cable. Using Windows® Explorer to transfer music To transfer music using Windows® Explorer 1. Make sure the USB cable is connected to the computer and the phone. % 4 Connecting the USB cable. 2. Open Windows Explorer. 3. Find the folder where you have stored music you want to transfer. Music is usually saved in the My Music folder under Windows Explorer/My Documents, unless you have specifically changed folders. 4. Browse to the music you want to transfer. 5. Open My Computer/Removable Disk (drive:) in a new window. 6. Keep the Windows Explorer windows open side by side. 7. Select the tracks from the folder where you have saved them and drag and drop them to a folder in My Computer/Removable Disk (drive:), either one by one, or several at a time by pressing Shift or Ctrl and clicking the tracks. Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer as this may harm the phone memory or memory card. 8. Right-click on both Removable Disk icons in Windows Explorer and select Eject to disconnect the USB cable. A pop-up will appear in the phone saying that it is safe to disconnect the USB cable. Using Walkman® player to listen to music To play music 1. From standby select Menu } WALKMAN } More } My music and browse by artists, albums, tracks or playlists. Press to open a list and to go back in a list. 2. Highlight a track } Play. AMR and MIDI files are only visible and possible to play with Walkman® player if they are copyrightprotected. Browsing your music In the Walkman® player browser you can search tracks by: · Artists ­ lists tracks by artist in Artist-Title order. · Albums ­ lists tracks by album in Album-Title order. · Tracks ­ lists all tracks in the phone memory and on the memory card. · Playlists ­ lists the playlists you have created. · Onl. channels ­ lists of bookmarks for streaming music. 7 December 2006 Getting started Walkman® Playlists To organize your tracks, you can create playlists. A playlist is a selection of tracks. You can add a track to more than one playlist. When you delete a playlist or a track from a playlist, it is not deleted permanently from the phone memory or memory card. To create a playlist 1. From standby select Menu } WALKMAN } More } My music } Playlists } New playlist } Add to enter the name of the playlist } OK. 2. } Mark to select the tracks you want to add to the playlist. You can add several tracks at a time and you can also add folders. All tracks in a folder are added to the playlist. 3. } Add or } More } Add to add the tracks and folders to the playlist. The playlist is saved and can be found in the browser under Playlists. To add tracks to a playlist 1. From standby select Menu } WALKMAN } More } My music } Playlists select a playlist } Open } More } Add media. 2. } Mark to select the tracks you want to add to the playlist. You can add several tracks at a time and you can also add folders. All tracks in a folder are added to the playlist. 3. } Add or } More } Add to add the tracks and folders to the playlist.
