Appendix B-6 iv Introduction Introduction The IP-511 Print Controller is an internal print controller built into the Konica 7165 Copier that offers the capability of letting the copier function as a network scanner and so you can store image data scanned by the copier on the hard disk of the Print Controller and read these data into TWAIN-compliant applications. It also provides a way of sending scanned data as an attachment to email or uploading scanned image data to FTP servers. More specifically, this manual discusses how to use the scanning features of the IP-511 Print Controller and how to let the Konica copier function as a scanner controlled from computers and through networks. This manual assumes you are familiar with the basic operations of Windows. Instructions for using the major features of the copier and print controller, and instructions about the printer driver and networking features are discussed in the respective separate manuals. Please refer to them as the need arises. For instructions for operating Windows95/98/Me, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, refer to their manuals. For an explanation of using applications, refer to their individual manuals. This manual is made up of the following four chapters and some appendices: Chapter 1 Overview of the Scanning Features This chapter sketches out the scanning features offered by the print controller. Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings This chapter discusses how to configure scanned data transfer destinations from the operation panel of the printer (copier). Chapter 3 Scanner Operation This chapter discusses how to use the operation panel of the printer (copier) when scanning original documents. Chapter 4 Loading In from Computers This chapter shows you how to install the scanner driver and how to load in scanned data from a hard disk of Windows computers connected to networks. Appendices Appendix A deals with troubleshooting. Available Scanning Features Originals' image data scanned from the copier's RADF or platen glass in scanner mode are available to be stored or uploaded as files in the TIFF or PDF format. This illustration provides an overview of the scanning features. Scan to HDD: Scan to Email: Scan to FTP: TWAIN-capable Application Network Scanner Driver Email Application FTP Client Import Original Scanning Scan to HDD Ethernet TCP/IP (FTP) Print Controller Internet E-RDH Main Body Printer/Copier SMTP Server Scan to Email FTP Server Scan to FTP During scanning preparation, you can set such things as IMAGE ENHANCE, SCAN MODE, SCAN DENSITY, LENS MODE, SCAN SIZE, QUALITY, SPECIAL ORIGINAL, etc. The scanning features fall into three groups: "Scan to HDD," "Scan to Email," and "Scan to FIP." 1-2 Chapter 1 Overview of the Scanning Features Scan to HDD This feature lets you save scanned data to the hard disk of the print controller. To scan originals, you need to specify a 4-digit box number from the control panel. This box number is handled as if it were a holder in the print controller's hard disk. Scanned data files thus stored on the hard disk are available to be loaded in, edited and stored via networks using TWAIN-capable Windows applications. When loading in scanned data, you need to enter a box number. Scanned data sitting on the hard disk of the print controller can be deleted only from personal computers on a network. You can program the print controller to automatically delete scanned data sitting on the hard disk by configuring the [ScanDataAutoDel.] setting in the Print Controller Setup on the control panel. In addition, when the remaining disk space reaches less than 20 MB, your attempt to store scanned data is automatically rejected. Scan to Email This feature transmits scanned data to recipients at specified addresses as attachments to email. Scan to FTP This feature uploads scanned data to specified FTP servers. 1-3 Chapter 1 Overview of the Scanning Features Scanning Process The process of scanning originals, storing/transmitting and loading in scanned data, may be summed up as follows: 1. 2. 3. Set originals on the copier, and select a destination on the control panel. (p.2-1). Run a scan job. Scanned data is stored/transmitted depending on your settings. (p.3-1). Load in from your personal computer scanned data stored on its hard disk. (p.4-1). Choosing destinations to transmit scanned data. Before you scan originals, you need to decide where to store or transmit scanned data. 1. 2. Load the original to be scanned on the copier's platen glass or in the RADF. Press the [MODE] button on the control panel to have the SCANNER/SERVER Basic screen appear. 3. Press the [SCAN] on the SCANNER/SERVER Basic screen. The [Select Transmission Object] screen appears. 4. Choose scanned data upload destinations from [E-Mail], [HDD] or [FTP]. The screen corresponding to your choice will appear on which to choose storage locations or recipients. You can choose destinations for [E-Mail], [HDD] and [FTP] at the same time. The currently selected setting tag (E-Mail, HDD or FTP) is highlighted in reverse image. You need to shift the copier to the key operator mode to change or delete the currently registered recipients/storage locations. For more on this, refer to the "Copier's INSTRUCTION MANUAL." 2-2 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings Scan to HDD This lets you store scanned data on the hard disk of the print controller. [Select Transmission Object] screen (HDD) You can select only one [HDD] storage location. 1. Choose [HDD] on the [Select Transmission Object] screen. 2. Choose a storage location from the displayed listing. · If necessary storage locations are not previously registered, you need to manually enter necessary locations at this stage. · Pressing the [MANUAL I/P ADDRESS] key opens the [HDD - Box No.] screen at which you can enter storage locations. · Pressing the [SEARCH] key opens the [Enter Search Letter] screen at which you can enter the first letter of registered names. When the search result is displayed, the [SEARCH] key is highlighted in reverse image. At this stage, you can press the [ALL ITEM] to have all registered options be displayed as before. · Pressing the [CANCEL] key brings you back to the [Scanner/Server Setup Menu] screen. 3. Press the [OK] key and the Scanner Basic screen will open. For a detailed explanation for the procedure you need to follow from this stage onwards, refer to the section, "Chapter 3 Scanner Operation" Scanner Basic Screen. (p.3-4) 2-3 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings [HDD - Box No.] Screen Entry Name You need to enter alphanumeric names that will be displayed on the [Select Transmission Object] screen for HDD. Any name can be up to 10 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. (You cannot enter signs.) Box No. Into this field you enter a 4-digit Box No. using the hard keypad. The Box Nos. are numbers to attach to folders when storing scanned data on the hard disk. Be sure to write down these numbers. You need them when reading scanned data from your PC. If you intend to use your printing system as a scanner, it is recommend that you assign Box Nos. (from 1 to 9998) to the users and inform them about their allotted numbers by way of email in advance. The Box Nos. perform the function of protecting each user's data. [Delete] key Press this key to delete the character to the left of the cursor. [Capital/Small] key Press this key to replace an upper case letter with a lower case and vice versa. [Sign] key Press this key and the lowercase alphabetical letter keys produce signs. Then the [Sign] key is changed into the [Alphabet] key. Press this key again and you can enter alphabetical letters as before. [ ] keys Pressing these keys moves the cursor. A letter enters to the left of the cursor. [ENTRY] key Press this key to register information you have entered and return to the [Select Transmission Object] screen. [CANCEL] key Press this key to go back to the [Select Transmission Object] screen without registering what you have entered. [OK] key Press this key to open the [Scanner Basic] screen. 2-4 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings Scan to Email This feature sends scanned data to users as an attachment to email. [Select Transmission Object] screen (E-Mail) You have the option to select multiple destinations at a time. The keys selected as destinations are highlighted in reverse image. 1. Choose [E-Mail] on the [Select Transmission Object] screen. 2. Choose recipients from the displayed listing. · If necessary recipient names are not previously registered, you need to manually enter necessary recipient names. · Pressing the [MANUAL I/P ADDRESS] key opens the [E-Mail Transmission Object] screen for EMail and you can enter email addresses. · Pressing the [SEARCH] key opens the [Enter Search Letter] screen and you can enter the first letter of a registrant. When the search result is displayed, the [SEARCH] key is highlighted in reverse image. At this stage, you can press the [ALL ITEM] to display all registrants as before. · Pressing the [CANCEL] key brings you back to the [Scanner/Server Setup Menu] screen. 3. Press the [OK] key and the [Scanner Basic] screen will appear. For a detailed explanation for the procedure you need to follow from this stage onwards, refer to the section, "Chapter 3 Scanner Operation" Scanner Basic Screen. (p.3-4) 2-5 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings [E-Mail Transmission Object] screen Entry Name Enter the name of a recipient, up to 10 alphanumeric characters long, that will be displayed in the [Destination] window on the [Select Transmission Object] screen. To enter alphabetical letters, use the touch panel, and to enter numbers, use the hard keypad. (You cannot enter signs.) E-Mail Address Enter an email address, up to 60 alphanumeric characters long. To enter alphabetical letters, use the touch panel, and to enter numbers, use the hard keypad. [Delete] key Press this key to delete the letter to the left of the cursor. [Capital/Small] key Press this key to replace an upper case letter with a lower case and vice versa. [Sign] key Press this key and the lowercase alphabetical letter keys produce signs. Then the [Sign] key is changed into the [Alphabet] key. Press this key again and you can enter alphabetical letters as before. [TITLE] key Pressing this key opens the [E-Mail - Title in E-Mail] screen. [ ] keys Pressing these keys moves the cursor. A letter enters to the left of the cursor. [ENTRY] key Press this key to register information you have entered and return to the [Select Transmission Object] screen. [CANCEL] key Pressing this key brings you back to the [Select Transmission Object] screen without registering what you have entered. [OK] key Pressing this key opens the [Scanner Basic] screen. 2-6 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings [E-Mail - Title in E-Mail] screen Subject Here you can enter a brief Subject of email messages, up to 45 alphanumeric characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. [Delete] key Pressing this key deletes the letter to the left of the cursor. [Capital/Small] key Pressing this key replaces an upper case letter with a lower case and vice versa. [Sign] key Press this key and the lowercase alphabetical letter keys produce signs. Then the [Sign] key is changed into the [Alphabet] key. Press this key again and you can enter alphabetical letters as before. [ ] keys Pressing these keys moves the cursor. A letter enters to the left of the cursor. [CANCEL] key Pressing this key brings you back to the [E-Mail Transmission Object] screen without registering what you have entered. [OK] key Pressing this key stores in memory the Subject you entered, bringing you back to the [E-Mai Transmission Object] screen. 2-7 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings Scan to FTP This feature uploads scanned data to an FTP server. [Select Transmision Object] screen (FTP) You can select only one [FTP] destination. 1. Choose [FTP] on the [Select Transmission Object] screen. 2. Choose a destination from the displayed listing. · If there are no destinations registered, you need to manually enter necessary destinations at this stage. · Pressing the [MANUAL I/P ADDRESS] key opens the [FTP Transmission Object] screen at which you can enter the host address or other information about FTP servers. · Pressing the [SEARCH] key opens the [Enter Search Letter] screen at which you can enter the first letter of a registered destination for search. When the search result is displayed, the [SEARCH] key is highlighted in reverse image. At this stage, you can press the [ALL ITEM] key to get all registered names displayed as before. · Pressing the [CANCEL] key brings you back to the [Scanner/Server Setup Menu] screen. 3. Press the [OK] key and the [Scanner Basic] screen will open. For a detailed explanation for the procedure you need to follow from this stage onwards, refer to the section, "Chapter 3 Scanner Operation" Scanner Basic Screen. (p.3-4) 2-8 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings [FTP Transmission Object] screen Press an entry item key and the key is highlighted in reverse image, the corresponding field being available for entry. Profile Name Here you can enter a name that will be displayed in the [Transmission Object] window on the [Select Transmission Object] screen for FTP. Any alphanumeric name can be up to 10 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. (You cannot enter signs.) Host Address Here you can enter the address of an FTP server, up to 63 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. File Pass Here you can enter the file path of an FTP server, up to 96 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. Login You can here enter the account of an FTP server, up to 47 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. Password Here you can enter the password of an FTP server, up to 31 characters long. Use the touch panel to enter alphabetical letters, and the hard keypad to enter numbers. [Anonymous] key Pressing this key enters "Anonymous" in the [Login] field. Use this feature when logging into an anonymous FTP server that does not require any account for login. [Delete] key Pressing this key deletes the character to the left of the cursor. [Capital/Small] key Pressing this key replaces an upper case letter with a lower case and vice versa. [Sign] key Press this key and the lowercase alphabetical letter keys produce signs. Then the [Sign] key is changed into the [Alphabet] key. Press this key again and you can enter alphabetical letters as before. [PORT No.] key Pressing this key opens the [Enter FTP Port No.] screen at which you can enter the port number for an FTP server. [ ] keys Pressing these keys moves the cursor. A letter enters to the left of the cursor. [ENTRY] key Press this key to register information you have entered and return to the [Select Transmission Object] screen. 2-9 Chapter 2 Configuring Destination/Storage Location Settings [CANCEL] key Pressing this key brings you back to the [Select Transmission Object] screen without registering what you have entered. [OK] key Pressing this key opens the [Scanner Basic] screen. [FTP Port No. Entry] screen FTP Port No. Here you can enter the port number for an FTP server using the touch panel. Any number can be up to 5 digits long. [RESET] key Pressing this key clears the entered numbers, restoring the display to the default port number: 21. [CANCEL] key Pressing this key brings you back to the [FTP Transmission Object] screen without registering what you have entered. [OK] key Pressing this key stores in memory the port number you entered, bringing you back to the [FTP Transmission Object] screen. 2-10 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Performing a Scanning Task ........................................ 3-2 Scanner Basic screen................................................... 3-4 Check Settings for Scanning ..................................... 3-10 3-1 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Here is how to operate the copier's operation panel to scan original documents. Performing a Scanning Task When specifying a destination/storage location, the [Scanner Basic screen] will appear. You can let the copier function as a scanner in one of two modes: Real Mode and Store Mode. To Scan Documents in Real Mode The scanned data is sent to the print controller every time one sheet is scanned in this mode. 1. 2. On the Scanner Basic screen, configure settings such as IMAGE ENHANCE, QUALITY and APPLI, as required. Press the [START] button and the original loaded in the RADF or on the platen glass is scanned, taking on the concerned current settings. Before the scanned data is sent to the Print Controller, you can press the [START] button again to run an additional scanning process, so that two sets of scanned data are sent at one time to the Print Controller. You can press the [START] button without pressing the [STORE] key and, once the scanning process is completed, the scanned data is uploaded to the hard disk as a TIFF file. Depending on the direction in which the original is loaded, the image direction varies when read into applications. Paper sizes acceptable for scanning and the way of loading the original are the same as in the copy mode. For more details, refer to the "Copier's INSTRUCTION MANUAL." 3-2 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation To Scan Documents in Store Mode Scanned data is not sent to the print controller unless the Store Mode is disabaled. This enables the machine to scan multiple originals and send them to the print controller at the same time. 1. 2. 3. 4. On the Scanner Basic screen, configure settings such as IMAGE ENHANCE, QUALITY and APPLI. Press the [STORE] key. Press the [START] button and the original loaded in the RADF or on the glass platen is scanned, taking on the concerned current settings. At this stage nothing is sent to the print controller. Press the [STORE] key, then press the [START] button and the scanned data is sent to the print controller. 3-3 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Scanner Basic screen [File Name] Press this key when you need to change or enter scanned data file names. Pressing this key opens the [Enter File Name] screen. Any file name can be up to 26 alphanumeric characters long. Depending on the file format the extension ".tif" or ".pdf" is automatically added to the end of a file name. [ADDRESS] Press this key to go back to the [Select Transmission Object] screen. File Form You can choose a scanned data file form from [TIFF] and [PDF]. You cannot change the file form in the process of scanning in Store mode. At [Scan to HDD], the file format is fixed at [TIFF]. [SCAN MODE] Use this feature to determine whether the original document is Duplex or Simplex. If [Duplex] is selected, a message appears to mount the RADF. [SCAN DENSITY] Press this key to select a read density. The default is the same as that in the copy mode. You cannot change the file form in the process of scanning in Store mode. [LENS MODE] Press this key to change the magnification ratio at which the original document is read. You can select [ZOOM], [RE] or [1:1]. [RE] is the same as the default in the copy mode. [ZOOM] range in each resolution are as follows: 200 dpi: 300 dpi: 400 dpi: 600 dpi: 75% - 400% 50% - 400% 38% - 400% 25% - 400% 3-4 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation [SCAN SIZE] Press this key to select the scanning paper size. This is available only when using the Platen mode. You can select [AUTO] or [SIZE SETTING]. [AUTO]:Same as the default in the copy mode [SIZE SETTING]:Allows you to select a scanning frame size. Example: When an 5.5"x8.5" original is loaded and you select 8.5"x11", then the scanning takes on the 8.5"x11" frame. Options: 5.5"x8.5", 5.5"x8.5"R, 8.5"x11", 8.5"x11"R, 8.5"x14", 11"x17", A3, A4R, A4, A5R, A5, A6R, B4, B5R, B5, B6R, F4, Full AREA Default is [AUTO]. [QUALITY] Use this feature to select the resolution. You can select [600 dpi], [400 dpi], [300 dpi] or [200 dpi]. The scanned data is read into the copier's memory (E-RDH). If scanned data exceeds the E-RDH capacity, which translates into an error, you cannot go on with scanning. The following table shows how many Letter/A4-size originals can be scanned with the copier's standard memory (64 MB). Understand that the numbers in the table are intended to serve as a rough guide for you. 3-5 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Functions When scanning an original document, you can use advanced features such as Special Original, Z-Folded Original, Non-image Area Erase, Frame/Fold Erasure, Reverse Image, Full-image Area, and Dual Page. Special Original Pressing the [SPECIAL ORIGINAL] key in the scanning setting basic screen displays the special original screen which looks like this: After selecting an application function, pressing the [OK] key brings you back to the scanner setting basic screen. Or, you can press the [CANCEL] key to abandon your setting, going back to the scanner setting basic screen. Pressing the [Default] key resets every configuration to default setting. ORIGINAL LOADING DIRECTION Allows you to choose directions in which to load the original. IMAGE ENHANCE Use to select an image quality. The default is the same as that in the copy mode (AUTO mode). For the default setting of the copy mode (Key Operation mode), refer to the "Copier's INSTRUCTION MANUAL." [AUTO] : Distinguish between text and photo automatically and select the appropriate image quality. [Increase Contrast] : Darken lightly printed images (e.g., pencil) without changing background exposure. [Photo] : Reproduce a halftone photo image. [Text] : In this mode, text is improved in comparison to using the AUTO mode. SPECIAL ORIGINAL You can set this feature depending on originals. [Normal Mode] : Choose this mode when loading a standard sheet of original. [Mixed Original] : Choose this mode when loading originals of varying sizes in the RADF. [Z-Folded Original ] : Choose this mode when loading Z-folded originals in the RADF. This mode ensures detecting paper size correctly. The Mixed Original or the Z-Folded Original mode cannot be used in combination with the Nonimage Area Erase option. 3-6 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation APPLI. Pressing the [APPLI.] key in the scanning setting basic screen displays an application selection screen which looks like this: After selecting an application function, pressing the [OK] key brings you back to the scanner setting basic screen. Or, you can press the [CANCEL] key to abandon your setting, going back to the scanner setting basic screen. Pressing the [ALL CLEAR] key clears every scanner advanced setting. For details of each feature, refer to the "Copier's INSTRUCTION MANUAL." [FILE EDIT] - [Dual Page] Sets/Cancels the book copy settings and binding position. The Dual Page mode scans facing pages of a book or brochure, page by page, separately, but in a single pass. You can use this feature whether the original is loaded in the RADF or on the glass platen. Non Image Area Erase is selected automatically. You need to press the [START] button without closing the RADF. This feature cannot be used in combination with Mixed Original. [IMAGE EDIT] - [Non-image Area Erase] Allows you to enable/disable the Non-image Area Erase. Original sizes loaded on the glass platen are automatically detected and the scan is limited to the printable area.This feature does not work with originals loaded in the RADF. This feature cannot be used in combination with Mixed Original, Z-Folded original, SDF, Reverse Image, or Full-image Area. If lights are present just above the machine, the original size may not be correctly identified. 3-7 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation [IMAGE EDIT] - [Reverse Image] Allows you to enable/disable Reverse Image mode. This feature cannot be used in combination with the Non-image Area Erase, or Full-image Area. [IMAGE EDIT] - [Frame/Fold Erasure] Allows you to enable/disable Frame/Fold Erasure setting. Use this feature when a thick original such as a book is loaded on the glass platen. Then, the scanned data does not take on the black shadow which otherwise develops along the outer edge or at the center of a duplicated original. This feature works with originals loaded in the RADF as well (not only originals loaded on the glass platen). The Fold Erasure mode cannot be used in combination with the Full-image Area. [IMAGE EDIT] - [Full-image Area] When the SPECIAL ORIGINAL feature is set to Normal, the scan is made with an image data erase of 2 mm width at the top, bottom, left and right edges. In this mode, the document is scanned completely to the edges. This feature cannot be used in combination with Non-image Area Erase, Reverse Image, or Frame/ Fold Erasure. ROTATION OFF Use this feature not to rotate the original image automatically by 90 degrees counterclockwise. Not Selected is the default. Whether or not this ROTATION OFF is activated, rotation does not occur in [RE] or [Mixed Original] modes if a selected paper size is [A4/A4R] and LENS MODE is [8.5x11/8.5x11R] or larger. STORE Press this key for scanning in Store mode. As long as this mode is activated, scanned data is not sent to the Print Controller. Press this key again to disable the Store mode. 3-8 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Deciphering Tag Displays SCANNER READING JOB A scan job is being read in. SCANNER OUTPUTTING JOB A scan job is being output to the print controller. SCANNER WAITING JOB A scan job has been read in but is waiting to be output because a print job request is now being output. SCANNER INTERRUPTING JOB The reading in of a scan job is stopped. SCANNER JAM JOB A paper jam has been produced in the process of the reading in of a scan job. When the copier's operation panel is in the scanner mode, no print job is sent and therefore no output is produced. You are advised to put the operation panel into the PRINTER mode or the Copy mode when you don't need any scanning features. Incidentally, when AUTO RESET is activated, the operation panel automatically shifts to the Copy mode when a predetermined time is up. 3-9 Chapter 3 Scanner Operation Check Settings for Scanning Press the [CHECK] button on the control panel and the [CHECK] screen will appear. This screen shows the current settings for scanning. CHANGE SETTINGS Pressing an item key opens the [Scanner Basic] or the [Select Advanced Features] screen at which you can change the settings concerned. Software to load in scanned data To upload scanned data sitting on the hard disk of the print controller to a computer, you need either of the following: · Konica Network Scanner Driver and TWAIN-compliant software · Dedicated tool for Konica-scanner-compliant complex machines (Scan Direct) (p.Appendix B-1) In the following we use the Network Scanner Driver. 4-2 Chapter 4 Loading In From Computers Network Scanner Driver When the Konica Network Scanner Driver is installed, you can upload scanned data from the hard disk of the print controller to a computer using TWAIN-compliant applications. The scanner driver can be used on the following OS: · Windows 95/98/Me · Windows NT 4.0 · Windows 2000 For the printing system to be used as a scanner, you need the network interface card. The parallel port on the print controller is not available for scanning work. It is necessary that the PC and the network interface card should be assigned appropriate IP addresses, and that the TCP/IP network should be enabled. For the TCP/IP settings of the network interface card, see the separate INSTRUCTION MANUAL for the network interface card. To install the scanner driver (Konica Network Scanner Driver) To install the scanner driver, perform the following procedure. 1. 2. 3. 4. Turn on the computer and start Windows. Exit from all active Windows applications, if required. Set the "User Software CD" on the CD-ROM drive. Double-click the [My Computer] icon on the desk top to open the [My Computer] window, and then double-click the icon corresponding to the connected CD (i.e. User Software CD). Double-click [Setup.exe] in the [\English\Scanner] folder. The setup program starts running and the [Welcome] window will appear. 4-3 Chapter 4 Loading In From Computers 5. Click the [Next] button. The [Start Installation] window will appear. 6. Click the [Next] button. The [Installing] window will appear and the file copy process starts. 7. The [Installation Complete] window will appear Clicking the [Finish] button terminates the setup program. 4-4 Chapter 4 Loading In From Computers TWAIN-equipped applications can be used to read in scanned data. Select a TWAIN driver (the Konica Network Scanner Driver) from your application, select a scanner (copier having scanned original) using the TWAIN driver, then enter the box number corresponding to the scanned data so that the scanned data can be read in from the print controller's hard disk. There are several TWAIN-capable applications on the market. In this manual, Adobe Acrobat 4.0 is used to illustrate how to read in scanned data. Reading in Scanned Data Reading in Scanned DataTo read in scanned data, you should follow these steps: 1. 2. Run the Application that conforms to TWAIN (Adobe Acrobat 4.0). Select [File] - [Import] - [Scan]. [Adobe Acrobat Scan] dialog box will appear. 3. 4. Choose [Konica Network Scanner Driver] from the [Device] pull-down menu. From the [Format] pull-down menu, choose [Single sided] or [Double sided], as required. Also, choose [Current Document] or [New Document] into which scanned data to be taken in. Clic [Scan] button. [Scanner Box No. Set-up] dialog box will appear. 4-5 Chapter 4 Loading In From Computers 5. In the Scanner Box No. Set-up dialog box, enter the server name (IP address) of the scanner you want to connect to, the scanner name for the driver to identify the scanner, and the box number you entered when scanning the document. Then click [OK]. Once the Scanner setting has been set, this dialog box is not displayed the next time you perform a scanning task. To display this dialog and select another scanner, click the [Scanner Selection] button on the Konica Network Scanner Driver's Main Screen. Then click the [Add] button on the Scanner Box No. Set-up dialog box. Neither the DNS nor the NetBIOS names can be used as a Scanner Server name. The main screen for Konica Network Scanner Driver will appear. 6. Select a file from the file list shown in the main window, then click [Reading] to allow the selected file to be read in. By default, the file is cleared from the controller's hard disk immediately after the file is fully read in.
