Thenetworksendstwotypesofinformationtoyourwatch--broadcastandpersonal.Broadcast information--suchasnewsstoriesandcurrenttemperatures--issenttoeverywatchwithMSN Direct,butonlytheinformationthatyouwanttoseeisactuallycapturedbyyourwatch.Regardless ofwhereyoutravelinNorthAmericaorCanada,aslongasyouarewithinanMSNDirectcoverage area,youshouldreceivebroadcastinformation. Yourpersonalinformation--suchasyourMSN®Messengermessages*andMicrosoft® Office Outlook®calendarappointments*--isencryptedwithauniquekeytohelpmaintainyourprivacy. Youreceivepersonalinformationwhenyouarewithinrangeofyourhomecoveragearea.Yourhome coverageareaisthemetropolitanareawhereyoulive. Icon Description NewMessage:Indicatesamessagehasarrivedthatisunread BatteryCharging:Indicatesthatthebatteryiscurrentlycharging. BatteryLow:Appearswhenthebatterylevelgetsdownto30%chargeremaining.Youneedtocharge thewatchsoon. AlarmOn:Indicatesthatoneofthealarmsissetandwillsoundattheappropriatetime. ChronoRunning:Indicatesthechronograph(alsoknownasastopwatch)iscurrentlyrunning. TimerRunning:Indicatesthatthetimercountdowniscurrentlyrunning. SignalStrength:Indicatesthestrengthofthebroadcastsignalthatthewatchisreceiving. ·Afullsignalisindicatedby ·Nosignalisindicatedbyandmeansthatthewatchhasbeenoutofyourhomecoveragearea longer than 10 minutes and cannot find a signal. ·meansthatthewatchmaynotbereceivingyourpersonalinformation.Thiscanhappenbefore the signal confirms the home coverage area for your watch, or if you travel out of your home coveragearea. ·meansthatthewatchradioisoffandthewatchcannotreceiveabroadcastsignal. Reference Guide Using the Time Channel Yourwatchcomeswiththreechannels--Time,Messages,andCalendar--thatareavailableforuse evenbeforeyouactivatetheMSN®Directservice.TheTimeChannelisfullyoperationalandreadyto go.TheMessagesandCalendarchannelshavelimitedcapabilitiesuntilyouactivateandpersonalize MSNDirect.TheMessageschannelisavailableforemergencyandpublicserviceannouncements, andtheCalendarchannelincludesamonthviewcalendar*.OnceyouactivateMSNDirect,youcan receivemessagesfromothers*,viewpersonalappointments,andviewaneventscalendarforthe things that interest you, such as sports schedules, financial events, and local cultural events. You can alsosubscribetoanumberofadditionalchannels,suchasnews,weather,stocks,andsports. ThisguideprovidesinstructionsforusingtheTimechannel.Forinstructionsonusingtheother channels,gototheMSNDirectWebsiteatwww.msndirect.comandvisittheMySettingspage. Note: Before you activate MSN Direct, you will see the Register channel on your watch. This is a temporary channel that displays the information you need to activate the service, including the MSN Direct Web site address and your watch ID. The watch ID is a number that uniquely identifies your watch so that you receive your personal messages and information. The Register channel disappears from your watch when you activate MSN Direct. *AvailablewithMSNDirectSmartPlanPlussubscription.Formoreinformation,pleasevisitwww.msndirect.com/service/ compare.htm. Receiving the Time Whenyourwatchreceivesabroadcastsignal,itshouldautomaticallyreceivethecorrecttimefroman atomicclock.ThishappensevenifyouhavenotyetactivatedtheMSNDirectservice.Aslongasyour watchisreceivingasignal,youdonotneedtosetthetime.Thetimeisaccuratetoafewthousands ofasecondandautomaticallyadjustsfordaylightsavingstimeandleapyears.Inaddition,yourwatch automaticallychangestodifferenttimezonesasyoutravelfromplacetoplace. Note: When you turn the watch on, it may take a few minutes to receive the time from an atomic clock. Ifyourwatchisnotreceivingasignal,youcanmanuallysetthetime.Youcanalsochangethetime displayfroma12-hourclocktoa24-hourclock,andyoucanoverridetheautomatictimezone setting.Fordetails,see"ChangingWatchSettings"laterinthisguide. Reference Guide Choosing a Watch Face You can change the appearance of your watch to reflect your personal style, environment, or mood. Tochangethefacethatdisplaysonyourwatch: 1. 2. 3. Note: For some watch faces, you can press Enter to view the date and seconds. To customize the Radial Monogram watch face, press and hold the Enter button. The fist initial begins to blink. Use the Previous and Next buttons to cycle through the letters of the alphabet. Press Enter to select a letter and to move to the next initial. PressandholdChanneltogototheTimechannel. Waitforthecurrentwatchfacetoappear. PressPreviousorNext until you find a watch face you want to display. Using the Chronograph Withthechronograph(commonlyknownasastopwatch),youcantimeevents--suchasyourdaily run--andrecordlaptimes.Youcanstartthechronograph,stopit,andthenrestartitwithouthaving toreset.Youcanrecordupto99laps. Starting, stopping, and resetting the chronograph Tousethechronograph: 1. PressandholdChanneltogototheTimechannel.Waitforthewatchfacetoappear. 2. PressChanneltogototheFacemode. 3. FromtheFacemode,pressNexttogototheChronomode.Thechronographappears. 4. Tostartthechronograph,pressPrevious(Start).Minutesandsecondsappearaslarge numbers.Hoursappearassmallnumbersabovetheminutes(ontheleft)andhundredthsof secondsappearassmallnumbersabovetheseconds(ontheright). 5. Tostopthechronograph,pressPrevious(Stop). 6. Dooneofthefollowing: ·Tocontinueusingthechronographandaddtotheeventtime,pressPrevious(Continue). ·Tostopusingthechronographandresettheeventtimeto00:00,pressNext(Reset). Note: When you start the chronograph, the number for hundredths of seconds appears for 10 seconds and then disappears from the watch face. The number runs in the background and displays when you stop the chronograph. Reference Guide 10 Recording Laps Torecordlapswhiletiminganevent: 1. Whilethechronographisrunning,pressNext(Lap). Theviewfreezesforamomentsothatyoucanread thelapvalue.Afterafewseconds,theviewresumes withthechronographstillrunning. 2. Repeatstep1foreachlapyouwanttorecord. Afteryoustopthechronograph,pressEntertoreview thelapvalues. Using the Alarm Withanalarm,youcansetatimeofdaywhenyouwantawatchsoundtonotifyyou.Yourwatch includestwoalarmsthatworkseparately.Forexample,youcansetonealarmforwhenyouwantto getupinthemorningandonealarmforwhenyouneedtoleaveforyourcarpool. Setting the first alarm To set the first alarm: 1. PressandholdChanneltogototheTimechannel. Waitforthewatchfacetoappear. 2. PressChanneltogototheFacemode. 3. FromtheFacemode,pressNexttwicetogotothe Alarm mode. The first alarm appears. 4. Tosetthehour,pressNext(Set),pressPreviousor Nextuntilyouseethehouryouwant,andthenpressEnter. 5. Tosettheminutes,pressPreviousorNextuntilyou seetheminutesyouwant,andthenpressEnter.Note: Tomoveupordowninincrementsof5minutes insteadof1minute,pressandholdPreviousorNext. 6. Ifyouareusingthe12hourclock,pressNexttochoose eitheramorpm,andthenpressEnter. 7. To choose the method of alarm notification, press PreviousorNextuntilyouseetheicon(),andthen pressEnter.Thealarmissetandisautomatically turnedon. Reference Guide Setting the second alarm FromtheAlarmmode,pressEntertogotothesecondalarm,andthenfollowtheinstructionsfor setting the first alarm. 11 Turning the alarm on and off Thealarmisautomaticallyturnedonwhenyousetit.Asmallalarmclockdisplaysonthewatchface toindicatethealarmisturnedon.Thealarmsoundsevery24hoursuntilyouturnitoff. Toturnthealarmoff: 1. FromtheAlarmmode,pressPrevious(Turnoff ). 2. Toturnthealarmbackon,pressPrevious(Turnon)again. Dismissing the alarm notification Dependingonhowyousetupthealarm,yourwatchemitsa soundwhenthealarmgoesoff.Thealarmplaysfor15seconds and a notification message appears on your watch face. Themessageautomaticallydisappearswhenthesound stops. You can dismiss the alarm before the sound finishes by pressinganybuttononyourwatch. Using the Timer With the timer, a watch sound notifies you after a specific amount of time elapses. By default, the timerissetto5minutes. Setting the timer Tosetthetimer: 1. PressandholdChanneltogototheTimechannel. Waitforthewatchfacetoappear. 2. PressChanneltogototheFacemode. 3. FromtheFacemode,pressNextthreetimestogoto theTimermode.TheTimerappears.Minutesand secondsappearaslargenumbers.Hoursappearas smallnumbersabovetheminutes(ontheleft). Dismissing the timer notification Whenthetimercountdownreacheszero,yourwatchemitsa series of beeps and displays a notification message on your watchface. Themessageappearsfor15seconds.Youcandismissthe timer notification message sooner by pressing any button on yourwatch. Note: If you turned off the sound setting, you only see the notification message.
