it would be much better if it did not need so much blood for a test. , very good glucometer. Have not used for a while but was excellent when used., works great but the test strips are more expensive than others, the best out there. Lost my manual, i like the compact plus. i find it easy to take with me where ever i go. . I currently have an error that i don't know what the error is., a wonderful tester, mid range, it's great.

my only complaint is the settings are difficlt to work and sometimes have to be reset, excellent source and website. Good overall product, just wish strips didnt cost so much, but that is with all glucometers, find it very easy to use, have had for 8 years and works great . Sometimes it doesnt read , ive had accu for years and have had very few problems. My opinion, i need to use it., great product especially in the pre-hospital traume role i work in., great meter.

It is very important to follow the instructions in order to prevent a wrong result or improper treatment. · Review the time and date set on your meter before you begin testing. Your system comes with a preset time and date (Eastern Time). You may need to change the time to your time zone. · Your new meter is designed and can be used for testing fresh capillary whole blood samples (for example, blood from your fingertip or forearm). Use only ACCU-CHEK Compact test strips. · Inspect the test drum container before using them for the first time. If you see any damage to the container cap or if anything prevents the cap from closing properly, do not use the test drums. Contact the ACCU-CHEK Customer Care Service Center. Damaged test strips can cause inaccurate results, which could lead to improper treatment. · Although you always apply whole blood to the test strip, your system has been calibrated to deliver plasma-like values for easier comparison to lab results. · Do not use the ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus system for testing of arterial blood. · The meter, test strips and control solutions are only for use outside the body (in vitro). Do not eat the test strips. Do not swallow or inject control solutions, or use control solutions for any purpose other than testing the ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus system. · The ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus system has been found to be accurate at altitudes up to 10,150 feet. · Refer to your Test Strip and Control Solution Package Inserts for additional health-related information. · It is always a good idea to have a back-up testing method available. Failure to test could cause a delay in treatment decisions and lead to a serious medical condition. Examples of back-up testing methods include a back-up meter or testing by a lab. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other possible back-up methods. 3 ACCU-CHEK Customer Care Service Center 1-800-858-8072 About the meter and test strips · Some people with diabetes do not experience symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Others, such as children or people who are unconscious or have certain disabilities, may not be able to communicate their symptoms to caregivers. For these reasons, do not change any treatment without first talking to a doctor. · Run a control test when you open a new box of test strips or if you think that your test result is incorrect. Running a control test lets you know that the meter and test strips are working properly. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR TREATMENT BASED ON A SINGLE RESULT THAT DOES NOT MATCH HOW YOU FEEL OR IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOUR TEST RESULT COULD BE INCORRECT. If your blood sugar result doesn't match how you feel and you have followed the instructions in this Owner's Booklet, follow your doctor's instructions, or call your doctor. ! ! Certain substances can interfere with the ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus blood glucose system and cause falsely high results. For example, if you use peritoneal dialysis solutions containing icodextrin (such as Extraneal), or take certain immunoglobulin therapies that contain maltose (such as Octagam® 5%), it will cause inaccurate results. For more information, refer to the Test Strip Package Insert, or ask your doctor. If you are very dehydrated or urinating frequently, you may get an inaccurate test result. If you think you are dehydrated, call your doctor right away. Special Information for Healthcare Providers and Caregivers · Do not use this device to measure blood sugar in people who are experiencing cardiovascular collapse (severe shock) or decreased peripheral blood flow. · Consult your physician to determine if it is appropriate for your child to be taught how to use the meter system or any other medical products. 4 ACCU-CHEK Customer Care Service Center 1-800-858-8072 Important Information About Your New System · Your new blood glucose system is designed and approved for testing fresh capillary whole blood samples (for example, blood from your fingertip or palm). The system is for outside the body (in vitro) use. It should not be used to diagnose diabetes. · Use only ACCU-CHEK Compact test drums. Other test drums (or test strips) cannot be used. Using other test strips with this meter can produce inaccurate results. · Run the control tests explained in this booklet to make sure your system is working properly. · Carefully dispose of used test strips and lancets. 5 ACCU-CHEK Customer Care Service Center 1-800-858-8072 Contents Chapter 1: Understanding Your New System ............................................................................................8 The ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus System ..................................................................................................................8 Meter Setup .........................................................................................................................................................10 Setting the Beeper ...............................................................................................................................................11 Setting the Brightness of the Display....................................................................................................................13 Setting the Year, Time, and Date..........................................................................................................................14 Setting the Test Reminders ..................................................................................................................................16 Setting the Hypoglycemic (Hypo) Indicator............................................................................................................19 Installing the Test Drum .......................................................................................................................................22 Test Strip Count ...................................................................................................................................................26 Changing the Batteries .........................................................................................................................................27 Chapter 2: Control Testing...........................................................................................................................29 Why Run Control Tests?
