Introduction

Thank you for purchasing Actiontec VoSKY Exchange. VoSKY Exchange is the world's first VoIP gateway that brings Skype Internet calls to an office environment. Exchange seamlessly bridges the existing PBX to the Skype network to provide inexpensive long distance and international calls.
By adding four Skype lines to your PBX, Exchange provides access to Skype Internet calls for every extension in the office even to those without computer access. The users simply pick up their office phone, dial a few numbers, and they are able to place and receive Skype Internet calls. The sound quality is as good as regular calls with the VoSKYTM Exchange's echocancellation technology and excellent voice quality. Exchange

We recommend connecting the Exchange to a PBX, as it will provide access to both Skype and analog lines and improve your office environment significantly.
Follow these steps if you have decided to connect the Exchange to a PBX: 1. Connect the Exchange to the PBX's trunk ports with the supplied telephone RJ-11 cables.
2. Request your PBX vendor to set the hunting group number
for the four trunk ports to a number, such as 8.
Internet Calls for Everyone, EverywhereTM
19
Note: Normally PBX uses a 9 or 0 number to give users access to the PSTN line. When you set the hunting group number to another number, an office phone user just needs to dial this number to access the Skype line.

call. Your office phone will ring. Pick up the phone and answer it.
Allowing Skype Users to Call Exchange
Skype users can call Exchange office users by calling into Exchange through Skype and then dialing the normal office extension number. To do this:
1. Give the Skype user all of your company's Skype IDs.
Regardless of the Skype ID you give out; all of your company's Skype IDs must be set to accept calls from any user. To change this setting, refer to step 5 in the section Activating Your Skype Accounts in this user manual.
2. The Skype user calls any one of the Skype IDs. If that ID is
busy, Exchange looks for an available line, and calls the caller back using the available ID. The caller must accept this call. When the user establishes a connection with Exchange, he receives a Skype chat message on his computer. If all four Skype IDs are busy, the caller gets a busy message and Exchange hangs up.

37
3. After receiving the Skype chat message, the user needs to
enter the office user's normal extension number. Depending on how Exchange is configured, the chat message will tell the user to enter the extension number either on the Skype message window or through the Skype dial pad.
Advanced Options
Advanced options are configured in the Settings tab of the Exchange Administration Console. To open the Exchange Administration Console:
1. On the PC Server, log into one of the Windows user
accounts (user01, user02, user03, user04) that you activated a Skype account in.

If you are using Skype version 1.3 or higher, use the Through Packet option. If you are using Skype version 1.2 or earlier, use the Through Voice option.
