PocketCam 4000 User's Manual 1. Do not drop, puncture or disassemble the camera; otherwise the warranty will be voided. 2. Avoid all contact with water and dry hands before using. 3. Do not expose the camera to high temperature or leave it in direct sunlight. Doing so may damage the camera. 4. Use the camera with care. Avoid pressing hard on the camera body. 5. For your own safety, avoid using the camera when there is a storm or lightning. 6. Avoid using batteries of different brands or types at the same time. There is potential of explosion from using incorrect batteries. 7. Remove batteries during long periods between usage, as deteriorated batteries may affect the functionality of the camera. 8. Loading the battery Please use two AA batteries. 1 2 3 Slide the battery cover in the direction of the indication to open it. 1 Getting Started Follow the indication to load batteries into the battery cover with the correct + and - ends. 2 Close inward and slide upward the battery cover to lock it. 3 1. We recommend you to use rechargeable 1.2 V Ni-MH batteries as this will increase time of usage. 2. You can also use 1.5 V alkaline batteries. For details of the battery life, please see the "Battery life" section on page 48. 5 3. Inserting and removing the CF card 1 Inserting the card 1 2 3 2 Open the Card cover. Back side Insert the card in the direction of the indication and push it in till the end of the card plot. Label side Close the Card cover. Removing the card Press the Eject button to remove the card. The camera comes with 16MB flash memory built inside for storage. If you do not insert a CF card, the data will be saved in the built-in flash memory automatically. ! The LED indicator lights red while the camera is processing data. Attaching the strap For convenience and safety, you may wish to attach the carrying strap. 1 2 Thread the strap loop through the hook in the direction indicated. 1 Getting Started Fasten the strap as indicated. 2 5. Using the tripod Use the tripod to minimize camera movement and ensure optimal image quality, particularly while taking self-portraits, longer movies, video conferencing or in the macro mode. 1 2 Attach the tripod to the port on the bottom of the camera and rotate the serrated wheel to lock it. 1 Serrated wheel Unfold the legs to set up. Then adjust the alignment to the desired position. 2 7 Basic Operation 1. Switching on and off Rotate the Mode dial to off. to switch on or to OFF to switch FF O OFF Switch on Switch off If the camera is idle for over 60 seconds, the LCD display will be turned off to conserve battery power; press any key to wake up the camera. If you do not operate this camera for over 3 minutes, the camera will shut down automatically. 2. Setting the Mode dial This camera provides five modes of use. Please follow these steps to snap stills. 1 2 3 4 Still picture mode 1 . FF O Rotate the Mode dial to Zoom in and zoom out Press the Control button ( ) to zoom in or the Control button ( ) to zoom out. The zoom of the Still picture mode is up to 4.0X. Zoom in Zoom out Auto Focus Center the target subject in the LCD display or viewfinder, then press the Shutter button halfway down to start the auto focus. AF frame Two beeps Taking a still Press the Shutter button all the way down to take a shot. C CR CF CARD F AD When pressing the Shutter EFC FET button halfway down, you will see a yellow target mark (AF frame) flashing in the LCD display and hear two rapid high tones. EF C FE T EF C FE T CF CARD CF CARD 10 If your target subject is not in the center of the image (AF lock) If your target subject is not in the AF frame, the camera will focus on the background instead of the subject when pressing the Shutter button halfway down. The following steps will teach you how to lock the AF on the original subject and get the best result. Basic Operation 1 Compose the view that you wish to take. 2 Focus Center the target subject in the AF frame, then press the Shutter button halfway down. (The Shutter button can be released.) Basic Operation Zoom in and zoom out While recording, press the Control button ( ) to zoom in or the Control button ( ) to zoom out. The zoom of the Movie mode is up to 1.7X. The count indicator starts and the icon flashes while recording is in progress. Next Previous Pause the movie While playing a recording, press any button to pause the movie. While playing a movie on the camera, sound playback is not available.
