Thank you for choosing the AlerteGPS Wikango One, a real concentrate of the newest technologies. Highlights of the Wikango One are : - a 2 inches color display that shows the speed of your vehicle, the type of speed camera, the distance between your vehicle and the speed control... - a vocal warning system: vocal messages will warn you as you approach a speed control or a dangerous zone - the AlerteGPS European database, one of the most reactive databases. The Wikango One combines the GPS and the GPRS technologies to be more powerful and flexible. The updates are done automatically, there's no need to connect the device to a computer. The LIVE function (information about speed camera locations in real time, optional) allows you to send and receive warnings in REAL TIME! Please read this manual carefully so that you can feel familiar with all functionalities of the Wikango One. Have a good trip! Options 23 - 25 26 3 1 Contents and installation Contents: Wikango One Battery Magnet pad Cigar-lighter adapter CD-Rom Installation: Remove the protection from the magnet Fix the magnet on the dashboard of your vehicle Place the Wikango One on the magnet. Turn the power on using the «ON / OFF» selector . 4 1 Contents and installation Important Your vehicle may have an athermic windscreen which may affect the satellite connection. In that case, you will need to use an optional external antenna. Installing the Wikango One with an external antenna: - fix the external antenna on the roof of your vehicle - make sure to place the cable inside the cabin of the vehicle. To avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, never leave the Wikango One on the dashboard. - remove the device from the magnet before you leave your vehicle to avoid degradations and thefts - climatic conditions may influence the satellite connection. Use only at temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F). 5 2 Overview Description: LIVE (warnings in real time) Speaker Connector for external antenna Battery Earphone USB ON / OFF Joystick Battery: The battery is included in the box of the Wikango One: Place it in the device before you use the device. Connector for external antenna: If your vehicle features an athermic windscreen, you should use an external antenna in order to ensure an optimal satellite connection (optional). Earphone: Connect a mini-jack type earphone to use the Wikango One on a motorbike. We recommend you to use an AlerteGPS biker kit (optional). USB connector: Use the USB connector to: - charge the battery with the home charger* - power the Wikango One using a cigar-lighter - update the firmware of the Wikango One * optional / included in the Pro Pack Charge the battery completely before you use the Wikango One for the first time. Connect the Wikango One to the mains supply with the included home charger. In order to use the GPRS functionalities (automatic updates, LIVE service), the battery must be charged. If the battery is low, please charge it before you use the GPRS functionalities of the Wikango One. 6 3 Using the Wikango One Starting the Wikango One: Once you have turned the power on, the display shows: - DB = database version - FW = firmware version Select your language and the speed unit. This can be done again from the menu ("Country Settings") or after a reset ("Information"). Then, the Wikango One will start to acquire satellite connection. A vocal messgae warns you when the satellite search is completed. Navigation: Joystick functionalities: - call the menu - navigate through the different sections - validate a setting 7 3 Using the WIkango One OR Enter the menu / Validate a setting Up / Down in the menu OR Enter the sections of the menu Exit the menu Volume settings: Use the joystick to set the volume from the standard screen or from the warning screen. Volume up = Volume down = Sections of the menu: Warning settings Sound settings Screen settings Country settings Battery settings Speed limiter POI Information 8 3 Using the Wikango One Warning settings In this section, you can choose at which distance you get the warnings. Two settings are possible: Auto or User. Auto: Default setting. The distance is the one used in the database. < 30 mph = 400m 30 - 50 mph = 600m From 400 to 800m Standard warnings LIVE warnings 50 - 70 mph = 800m > 70 mph = 1200m The auto mode avoids most false warnings. User: The user mode allows you to set your own warning distance, in seconds, from 10 up to 30 seconds. Sound settings In this section, you can customize the sound settings of the Wikango One. 9 3 Using the Wikango One Warnings: In this section, you can customize the sound settings of the Wikango One. Smart Mute: To turn the Wmart Mute function on or off. The Smart Mute function avoids unexpected vocal messages: If you drive under the speed limit as you approach a speed control, no vocal message will be heard. Smart Mute range = between 6 and 18 MPH under the speed limit. Overspeed beep: To turn the overspeed on or off( fixed speed cameras only). Key sound: To turn the key sound on or off. Screen settings In this section, you can customize the screen settings of the Wikango One. Day: Day mode settings. 10 3 Using the Wikango One Time: Day mode start. Brightness: Day mode brightness level. Night: Night mode settings. Speedmeter: Speedmeter on or off. Flashing screen: Flashing screen on or off. ON: The screen is flashing as you approach a warning. OFF: Standard mode. Country settings In this section, you can customize the settings for your country. 11 3 Using the Wikango One Language: To select your language. Time zone: To selet the time zone, GMT + / - . Time format: Choose the time format you prefer, 12 - 24h. MPH / Km/h : Select the speed unit in use in your country. Battery settings In this section, you can view the battery level and set the autostop function. 12 3 Using the Wikango One Status: Battery level, from 0 to 100%. When the device is connected to the mains supply or via USB, indication may change. A minimum battery level is required to use the GPRS functionalities of the Wikango One (automatic updates, LIVE). If the battery level is low, load the battery at least 10 minutes before you use the GPRS functionalities. Auto-Stop : Set the time before the Wikango One stops automatically when the vehicle is stopped or when the satellite connection is lost. Push the LIVE button located on the top of the unit to restart the device. Speed limiter Speed limiter settings: The Wikango One features 3 speed limiters. Each speed limiter can be adjusted and activated independently. Enter each section to activate and adjust each speed limiter. Once you have activated a speed limiter, you can adjust the speed limit on the following screen. The speed is then shown in the menu next to each speed limiter. E.g.: Speed limiters 2 & 3 are activated and set to 40 and 60 MPH. Every time your speed exceeds one of these speed limits, a beep will warn you shortly. 13 3 Using the Wikango One POI In this section, you can view your own POI (points of interest). Information displayed: - POI number - date - latitude - longitude - direction Use the joystick to scroll between the POI. The POI function is disabled when the LIVE function is activated. Information 14 3 Using the Wikango One System: FW = firmware version DB = database version. LIVE activation: To activate the LIVE service: Warnings in real time, Safety Car function. Activate your LIVE code in 3 steps (the LIVE code is located on the back of your LIVE card. For further information: alertegps.com): Enter the menu and go to the "Information" section. Select "LIVE activation". Enter your LIVE code using the joystick. Once you have entered the last character or number, validate by pressing the joystick in the center. Your LIVE subscription has been activated. You will be able to use the real time functions and to view the safety cars within 24 hours. The LIVE activation should be done outdoor in order to optimize the connection to the satellites. The LIVE activation requires a GPRS and a GPS connection. Satellite: Shows your GPS position: Latitude, longitude, direction. Demo: Demo mode on or off. Reset settings: To restore the factory settings. 15 3 Using the Wikango One Default screen "Safety Car" function (requires a subscription to the AlerteGPS LIVE service) Sound level GPRS level Satellite network level Speed of the vehicle Battery "Safety Car" function: The Safety Car function displays the number of AlerteGPS LIVE users around you or driving on the same road. The Safety Car function is displayed in road mode or in zone mode. ROAD MODE: Number of Safety Cars located on the same road, at a distance of xx miles. ZONE MODE: Number of Safety Cars located around your vehicle, in a radius of xx miles. ROAD MODE ZONE MODE 16 3 Using the Wikango One As you approach a warning "Safety Car" function (requires a subscription to the AlerteGPS LIVE service) Warning type Distance bar between the vehicle and the warning Speed of the vehicle Speed limit Fixed speed camera Red light camera Potential mobile control Frequency 1 star = infrequent 2 stars = frequent 3 stars = very frequent LIVE warnings LIVE warning type Warning time (reported xx min ago) 17 3 Using the Wikango One LIVE fixed speed camera LIVE mobile speed camera LIVE accident LIVE work Reporting a LIVE warning With the LIVE option, you can report warnings in real time to the user community, simply by pressing a single button! Types of LIVE warnings: 1 - Speed cameras: - fixed speed cameras - mobile speed cameras 2 - Risk zones: - accident - work. For better accuracy, you can also report the direction of the warning. Once you have reported a LIVE warning, other users will be warned as they approach the location you have sent. You will also receive the warnings sent by other users. 18 3 Using the Wikango One To report a LIVE warning, simply press the LIVE button located on the top of the unit Select the LIVE warning type: = risk zone = speed camera = accident = work = fixed speed camera = mobile speed camera = opposite direction = your direction 19 3 Using the Wikango One If you want to cancel the emission of the LIVE warning, press the LIVE button When your LIVE warning has been correctly sent, the following screens appaears: If an error has occured while sending the LIVE warning, the following screen appears: Confirm / delete a LIVE warning Once you have passed a LIVE warning, you can confirm or delete the warning: = confim = delete 20 3 Using the Wikango One Once the warning has been confirmed, the following message appears: When a LIVE warning is confirmed, it is kept during 60 min. When a LIVE warning is deleted, the following message appears: If an error occurs during the confirmation or deletion process, the following message appears: 21 3 Using the Wikango One Error messages If the SIM card is not recognized by the network, the following message is displayed: If there's an issue with the SIM card, the following message is displayed: 22 4 General Notices & Warnings Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive According to Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, household electrical appliances cannot be dispersed in the conventional waste stream. Used electrical and electronic equipments must be collected. - 23 4 General Notices & Warnings 24 4 General Notices & Warnings Battery: - CAUTION Battery charger: 25 5 Options Air Vent Mount Kit Home Charger 26 Addendum Reporting LIVE Warnings: You can select between two LIVE modes: - simple mode: quick and easy mobile location report - advanced mode: lets you report different categories of warnings The default setting is the simple mode. In simple mode, the reported warning is by default a mobile speed camera location. Just like in the advanced mode, the direction is by default the direction of your vehicle.
