Description
The ACS45.1 is an amplified speaker system featuring a subwoofer for extended low frequency response. The system is especially designed for multimedia computer near field monitoring. Two audio inputs (1) and (2) allow mixing of computer audio signals with other sources of sound. A patented control circuit automatically boosts bass at low volume to maintain musical sound "realism." Electronic up/down controls adjust system volume. The subwoofer has a separate volume control for blending the subwoofer level with the satellites to the listeners

preference. The unit is turned on/off by pressing both the up/down volume controls. The satellite speakers have a detachable base that allows the speakers to be angled upwards if desired for better directivity of sound. The satellites are magnetically shielded to prevent distortion of monitor images. Please note, that the subwoofer is NOT magnetically shielded and should not be placed in close proximity to the monitor. When the ACS45.1 is not used with a Multimedia Computer, it can serve as an amplified speaker system for CD players, cassette players and various video/audio sources with excellent results.
the up/down volume controls simultaneously. · Volume Up/Down. Volume is controlled electronically by the use of two push buttons located on the top of the satellite. Arrows on the push button indicate volume up/down. The left push button with the arrow pointing towards the front lowers volume and the right push button raises volume. See Figure 2. · Subwoofer Volume Control (Bass Level). With the subwoofer in the desired location, the volume control is used to mix the level of the subwoofer with the satellite speakers. Mixing is usually done by playing a wide variety of music and speech and adjusting the control until a natural sound is obtained. · Inputs 1 and 2. Both inputs are equal. One input can be used for the computer output and the other as described in "How to Enhance Presentations with Dialogue."

All stereo information is heard from the satellite speakers. The subwoofer contains no stereo information and sound is non-directional. As a result, the subwoofer does not necessarily have to be placed in any particular relationship to the satellites. Placing the subwoofer on the floor close to

How to Enhance Presentations with Dialogue
A CD player or other audio source can be plugged into the unused INPUT. Mixing of the computer audio output with another audio source can be accomplished by using the volume control or ON/OFF switch on the second audio source. A typical example may be as follows: A lecturer may want to interject dialogue into a multimedia presentation. If the lecturer has a wireless FM microphone system, the output of the microphone receiver can be connected to the unused input on the ACS45.1. When the lecturer wishes to make a comment, he either turns on the microphone switch to speak or he can raise or lower the microphone volume control to mix his voice with the computer audio program. Any other audio device can operate in the same manner. Figure 2
Troubleshooting
When first installing a new system some simple instructions may be overlooked which can cause the unit to be inoperative. Please make the following checks: ·Make sure all connecting plugs between the satellite speakers, subwoofer (if applicable) and computer are fully seated. ·Make sure the wall power outlet or power strip has power. The outlet can be checked with a lamp or some other appliance. If the power strip has a switch make sure it is turned on. ·Make sure the power switches on the satellites and subwoofer (if applicable) are turned on. ·It is possible to test the unit by pulling out the audio cable that is connected to the computer and connecting it to an alternate audio source such as a portable CD player. ·When the unit is operative, vibrations from the speaker sound can cause other loose objects to vibrate. These extraneous vibrations may lead to the erroneous conclusion that the speakers are defective. In most instances, removing the vibrating object cures the problem.
