There may be a remote risk of electrical shock from lightning. 5.Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak. 6.Unplug this telephone from the wall outlets before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners on the telephone. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. 7.Place this telephone on a stable surface. Serious damage and/or injury may result if the telephone falls. 8.Do not cover the slots and openings on this telephone. This telephone should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This telephone should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided. 9.Operate this telephone using the electrical voltage as stated on the base unit or the owner's manual. If you are not sure of the voltage in your home, consult your dealer or local power company. 10. Do not place anything on the power cord. Install the telephone where no one will step or trip on the cord. 11. Do not overload wall outlets or extension cords as this can increase the risk of fire or electrical shock. 12. Never push any objects through the slots in the telephone. Never spill liquid of any kind on the telephone. 13. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not take this phone apart. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used. 14. Unplug this product from the wall outlets and refer servicing to the manufacturer under the following conditions: A. When the power supply cord or plug is frayed or damaged. B. If liquid has been spilled into the product. C. If the telephone has been exposed to rain or water. D. If the telephone does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in Important Safety Instructions this manual. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. They may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases, the company's inside wiring associated with a single line individual service may be extended by means of a certified connector assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations. Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user disconnect the equipment. Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas. 3 E N G L I S H ADDITIONAL SAFETY NOTES FOR CANADIAN USERS The following items are included as part of the CS-03 Requirements. The standard connecting arrangement for the equipment is CA11A. This product meets the applicable Industry Canada technical specifications. NOTICE: The Canadian Department of Communications label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective operational and safety requirements. The Department does not guarantee that the equipment will operate to the user's satisfaction. Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. Important Safety Instructions CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate. The Ringer Equivalent Number is an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalent Number of all the devices not exceed five. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 4 Introducing the P-300 Thank you for selecting the exciting new PHOTO PHONE from Ameriphone. These Operating Instructions and the associated Quick Operating Guide provide you with the information you need to use your PHOTO PHONE effectively and safely. Read this manual thoroughly before using your telephone. Keep the manual near the telephone for easy reference. Warranty Service Your telephone is designed to provide years of quality service. But, should the phone malfunction and the Trouble-shooting Chart on page 9 not resolve the problem, follow the Warranty procedure on page 11. Sales Receipt Be sure to save your sales receipt as proof of purchase date should you need warranty service. B. Wall Mounting 1. Pull the handset hook out and reverse its position so that the hook points up and will hold the handset when you hang up as shown in figure 4. A. Desk Mounting 1. Set the dial mode switch to T (tone) if you have touch tone service. Set the switch to P (pulse) if you have pulse (rotary) dialing. 2. Connect telephone line cord to telephone as shown in figure 3. 3. Connect handset cord to the telephone as shown in figure 3. 4. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 5. Your PHOTO PHONE is ready to use. 1 4 4 1 Figure 4 - Handset hook change 2. Insert the tabs of the phone base into the slots in the lower position of the base. Connect the handset cord to the telephone as shown in figure 3. 6. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 7. Your Photo Phone is ready for use. 3. Using the short modular cord, mount the phone as shown in figure 6. MANUAL AUTO Figure 6- Wall mounting installation 9 Operating your P-300 The PHOTO PHONE is designed to help you communicate easily. There are many convenient, easy-to-use features. Figure 7 A. Photo Directory Set Up You can program up to 9 photo-dial memory buttons with the numbers you dial most frequently. As these numbers change, it is easy to change the photos and numbers in the phone's memory. If you prefer, you can write the names and/or telephone numbers into the directory's nine spaces. 1.Select the photos you wish to use. Use the photo template as a guide to cut your photos to fit the photo frames. 2.Insert photos or written names into memory button frames. 3.Place the clear plastic overlay over your photos and insert the tabs into the slots. Office Doctor Bank TM PHOTO PHONE P-300 A B C G H I J K L D E F M N O B. Programming The Photo Directory 1. Lift the handset and press PROG button. 2. Enter a phone number as you would dial it. 3. Press PROG again and then press the corresponding memory button to store this number. Hang up immediately. 4. The number is now stored into memory. The memory button in the lower right corner of the frame can be programmed for emergencies. Whenever the handset is lifted, a light will guide you to that button. Note: Press the REDIAL button to insert a pause in the numbers you are programming. 10 Operating your P-300 C. Memory Dialing Pick up the handset and simply press the photo directory button to dial the phone number programmed. ff E. Amplify Button Press the AMPLIFY button to turn the amplifier on. When AMPLIFY is on, it returns to your previous amplification setting and a red light will illuminate in the ring flasher area. When you hang up the handset, it automatically turns off the amplifier. E N G L I S H Bank Figure 8 D. Amplifier The amplifier increases the incoming voice from 0 to 20+ decibels (dB). The graduated scale indicates the loudness of the volume setting. The amplifier is turned on by pressing the AMPLIFY button as described in the next section. Figure 10 F. Ringer Volume You may adjust the ringer volume of your PHOTO PHONE to suit your needs. When set on high, the ringer produces a tone that reaches approximately 75 decibels. DIAL RINGER Off Lo Hi Figure 9 P T 11 Operating your P-300 G. Ringer Pitch Control The ringer can be adjusted to emit a high-pitched or a low-pitched ring to suit your needs. RINGER PITCH I. Last Number Redial Button The PHOTO PHONE remembers the last number dialed from the phone up to 31digits. Lift the handset and simply press the REDIAL button to dial the last number dialed. Note: Press redial if you want to insert a pause between two numbers. Figure 12 H. Hold Button To put the line on hold, simply press the HOLD button and return the handset to its cradle. Notice the red light HOLD indicator. When you pick up an extension phone on the same line, the PHOTO PHONE will disconnect. Putting the call on hold also mutes the handset. Flash Button The flash feature is used to access special telephone functions and services available from your local phone company, such as: call waiting, 3-way calling and others. Press this button to activate the flash feature. FLASH E N G L I S H Figure 15 13 In Case Of Difficulty If any problem should arise during use of your PHOTO PHONE, try the suggestions listed below. Should the difficulty persist, contact Ameriphone or your authorized dealer for assistance. SYMPTOM No dial tone No number dialed when memory button pressed Call cannot be dialed, or is dialed slowly No audible ring CAUSE AND CORRECTIVE ACTION Check all phone cord connections. No number stored in that memory button. See "Programming The Photo Directory", p. 6. See "Installation" section to reset the dial mode switch, p. 4. Make sure the ringer is not set to "Off" position. 14 Regulatory Compliance Part 68 of FCC Rules Information This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules. On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC registration number and ringer equivalence number (REN) for this equipment. If requested, this information must be provided to the telephone company. A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug, RJ11 USOC, is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details. The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone company. For products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the REN is separately shown on the label. 15 E N G L I S H Regulatory Compliance If this telephone equipment, the P-300 telephone causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice isn't practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary. The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service. If trouble is experienced with this telephone equipment, for repair or warranty information, 16 please contact Walker / Ameriphone, 1-800-874-3005. If the equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THIS EQUIPMENT. This telephone equipment is not intended to be repaired and it contains no repairable parts. Opening the equipment or any attempt to perform repairs will void the warranty. For service or repairs, call 1-800-8743005. Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information. Regulatory Compliance If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation of this telephone equipment does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer. This telephone equipment is hearing aid compatible. We recommend the installation of an AC surge arrester in the AC outlet to which this equipment is connected. The telephone companies report that electrical surges, typically lighting transients, are very destructive to customer terminal equipment connected to AC power sources. Customer-Owned Coin/Credit Card Phones: To comply with state tariffs, the telephone company must be given notification prior to connection. In some states, the state public utility commission, public service commission or corporation commission must give prior approval of connection. E N G L I S H Part 15 of FCC Rules Information This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Your P-300 Telephone has been tested and found to comply with the limits of a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of 17 Regulatory Compliance FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation; if this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to correct the interference by one of the following measures: 1. Where it can be done safely, reorient the 18 receiving television or radio antenna. 2. To the extent possible, relocate the television, radio or other receiver with respect to the telephone equipment. (This increases the separation between the telephone equipment and the receiver.) 3. Connect the telephone equipment into an outlet on a circuit difference from that to which the television, radio, or other receiver is connected. 4. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Ameriphone warrants the PHOTO PHONE telephone against any defect in materials or workmanship for the period of one year from the date of purchase. If your Ameriphone product is defective and returned within 30 days of the date of purchase, your PHOTO PHONE dealer will replace it at no charge. If returned after 30 days, but within one year from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace it at no charge. In the repair of your PHOTO PHONE, we may use new or reconditioned replacement parts. If we elect to replace your PHOTO PHONE, we may replace it with a new or reconditioned product of the same or similar design. Repair or replacement will be warranted for either 90 days or the remaining time on the original warranty period, whichever is longer. Implied warranties, including those of fitness for a particular purpose and merchantability (an unwritten warranty that the is fit for ordinary use), are limited to one year from date of purchase. We will not pay for loss of time, inconvenience, loss of use of your PHOTO PHONE , or property damage caused by your PHOTO PHONE or its failure to work, or any other incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusions or limitations may not apply to you. To get warranty service for your PHOTO PHONE, you must provide proof of the purchase date. Within 30 days of the date of purchase, return your PHOTO PHONE to the place where you purchased it for immediate replacement. We suggest you save the original package materials in the event you need to ship the PHOTO PHONE . When shipping for warranty repair, include your name, address, phone number, proof of date of purchase, and a description of the problem. After repairing the product, we, (or the service center) will ship it back to you at no cost within the United States and Canada. CANADIAN RESIDENTS: call Ameriphone at 800-874-3005, 800-772-2889 TTY for instructions. This warranty does not cover defects resulting from accidents, damage while in transit to our service location, alterations, unauthorized repair, failure to follow instructions, misuse, use outside the United States or Canada, fire, flood, and acts of God. Nor do we warrant the product to be compatible with any 22 particular telephone equipment, party line, key telephone systems, or more sophisticated switching systems. If your PHOTO PHONE is not covered by this warranty, call us at 800-874-3005 or 800-7722889 TTY for advice as to whether we will repair your PHOTO PHONE and other repair information. Conexiones e Instalación en la pared 1.Desprenda el clip o gancho que sostiene el auricular en el teléfono e invierta su posición, de manera que apunte hacia arriba y pueda sostener el auricular cuando el teléfono sea montado en la pared como se indica en la figura 4. A. Instalación en un escritorio 1. Coloque el switch del tono de marcar en T (Tono) si usted utiliza un servicio de tipo "Touch Tone" para marcar. Preparación del Foto Directorio Usted puede programar hasta 9 números usados frecuentemente, utilizando los botones de foto-memoria. Coloque la protección de plástico transparente sobre las fotos, insertando los clips en los orificios. Marcando los números de la memoria Levante el auricular y simplemente oprima el botón (foto-botón) que tiene en memoria el número que usted quiere marcar. E. El botón AMPLIFY Oprima el botón AMPLIFY para encender el amplificador. Cuando el amplificador está encendido (ON), automáticamente regresa al nivel de amplificación previamente elegido.
