If you release the button during the first message, your device will keep using a small amount of battery power to allow a quick start up. If you do not plan on using the ARCHOS for an extended period of time, keep the button held down until you see a second message appear. The device will shut down completely, and there will be absolutely no battery usage. VOl Volume button: to increase/decrease volume. LEd INdICAToRS Chg Battery charge indicator · light on: the battery is charging · blinking: the battery is fully charged CoNNECToRS On the side of the device: 7 · Power connector: charge the battery of your ARCHOS device (see Charging the Battery). ARCHOS 7 · Headphone Jack: to connect headphones. Underneath the device: These connectors allow you to: · Connect your ARCHOS to a computer (see Connecting the ARCHOS to a Computer) 5/5g · Charge the battery of your ARCHOS (see Charging the Battery) 5, 5g & 7 MANUAL V3.0 INTRodUCTIoN > P. 5 5g · Connect a compatible USB device (USB stick, digital camera, etc.) to your ARCHOS, using the supplied host cable. See USB Host Connection. To use this function on an ARCHOS 5 or ARCHOS 7, you will need to purchase the optional DVR Station, Mini Dock or Battery Dock. · Connect an optional add-on. See ARCHOS add-ons. 5g SIM CARd SLoT Your telecom's SIM card is to be placed into the small slot on the top of the device. To learn how to install/remove the SIM card, see Installing the SIM Card / Removing the SIM Card. ATTENTION: Before inserting or removing the SIM card, make sure the device is completely shut off! bUILT-IN LoUdSPEAkER The ARCHOS is equipped with a single speaker (ARCHOS 5/5g) or two speakers (ARCHOS 7). LEG STANd · Your ARCHOS is equipped with a leg stand, located on the back of the device. · Carefully pull it out, and it will allow your ARCHOS to stand by itself on a flat, stable surface. fIrsT TIMe usage 5g INSTALLING THE SIM CARd ATTENTION: Before inserting or removing the SIM card, make sure the device is completely shut off! 1. Pull out the plastic `dummy' SIM card. 2. Separate the SIM card cap from the `dummy' card. 3. Insert your SIM card into the cap. 4. Insert the cap/SIM card combination into the ARCHOS making sure that the shiny circuit side of the SIM is facing the same side as the ARCHOS screen as shown (a).
