Functions settings Use the Display Menu as a guide through the functions. Dial a name in the phone book Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Phone book" and enter the first letter in the name you are looking for or the whole name; press OK. If only the first letter is entered, scroll to find the desired name; press the Call key to connect the call. Add an entry to the phone book Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Phone book"; press OK. Scroll until "Add" is displayed, press OK; "Name:" is displayed. Enter the name, use the *-key to switch between small and capital letters; press OK. The text "No:" appears, enter the number and confirm with OK. Delete or Modify names and numbers in the phone book Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Phone book"; press OK. · To delete: scroll until "Delete" is displayed; press OK; "Find:" is displayed. Enter the name you want to delete; press OK. · To modify: scroll until "Modify" is displayed; press OK; "Find:" is displayed. Enter the name you want to modify; press OK. Use the C-key to erase and OK to confirm the changes. Edit a Hot key Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Hot key" and scroll until "Edit" is displayed; press OK; "Hot key 0" is displayed. Select a key position by scrolling to the corresponding number; press OK. Choose to program the Hot key with a "Phone number", "Function", "Data send", "Data with prefix", "SMS" or "Not used". Confirm your choice with OK. Enter the phone number, one of the functions in the function list, data or number to send the SMS to; press OK. Use the Hot key Press and hold the Hot key and the pre-programmed function will be activated. Change the ring signal volume/melody or ring speed; and activate vibrator Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Alerting"; press OK. Scroll until "Ringing vol."/"Melody"/"Ring speed" or "Vibrator" is displayed; press OK. Choose which setting you prefer and confirm with OK. Lock the keypad automatically The keypad can be set to lock automatically 20 seconds after the handset has been used. Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Settings"; press OK. Scroll until "Automatic key lock" is displayed; press OK. Choose "Yes"; press OK. The keypad lock is activated after 20 seconds. To unlock, press the R-key and then the *-key. Changing language Enter "Settings" and scroll until "Language" is displayed; press OK. Scroll until the desired language appears. Press OK. Edit the clock and date function Enter "Settings" and scroll until "Clock" is displayed; press OK. Choose between "Auto", "Manual" and "Off". If your PBX supports the function, choose "Auto". If not, choose "Manual" and enter without spaces; year, month, day, hour and minutes (e.g. 200112061045); press OK. Disconnect/Connect the No-movement alarm Enter the menu mode; scroll to "Settings"; press OK. Scroll until "No-movement" is displayed; press OK. Scroll to choose "Off" or "On" and press OK. Use the OK-key to enter the menu mode and confirm a setting. Use the Scroll key to step between the menus. Pressing the C-key once will take you up to previous level in the menu; holding the C-key down will take you to the standby mode. They are members of the 9d23 handset family that comes in five different versions: from 9d23 Talker MkII for voice communication only, to the intrinsically safe version 9d23 EXProtector MkII, equipped with text receiver, personal alarm and no-movement alarm. A number next to the icon shows the total number of unread messages. The text message is displayed for one minute and thereafter stored in the memory. Press OK to mark the message as read. To accept messages with demand for acknowledge; see User Manual, Cordless Unit 9d23 MkII. Redial/Scrolling between calls and messages · To redial, press the "Arrow down" on the Scroll key. All call numbers are shown; last dialled call numbers, answered calls and not answered calls. The time when a call is dialled/ received during the actual day is also displayed*, to be changed to a date stamp the following day. Up to four call numbers can be displayed at the same time; the selected number is highlighted. Press the Call key to connect a call to the highlighted number. · To scroll between messages, press the "Arrow up" on the Scroll key. Only the first row of the message is displayed. Up to four messages can be displayed at the same time; the selected message is highlighted. Press OK to see the whole message, and the time and date it was received*. Lock/Unlock the keypad Press the R-key and then the *-key to Lock/Unlock. "Locked keypad" icon indicates locked keypad. Change the volume Press the Volume button up to increase the volume, down to decrease the volume. Switch the unit off/on The Switch off function has to be programmed as a Hot key. See "Edit a Hot key". To switch on, press the Call key, "Switch on?" will soon appear. Confirm with OK. Charge the battery An attention beep and an empty "Battery" icon indicate low battery. Charging is done in a desktop charger or a wall mounted charging rack; green LED on the charger indicates a fully charged battery. In combination with EX-version, use approved battery types only. For approved battery types, see Certificate of Conformity PTB 03 ATEX 2052/PTB No. EX-03 IEC 2053. Battery charging or replacement is not permitted in restricted area. Delete a stored message Press the "Arrow up" on the Scroll key until the desired message is displayed. The selected message is highlighted. Press the C-key and then OK to delete the message. Turn off/on alert signals Hold the Mute button to turn off/on the signal. "Alert signals off" icon indicates a completely silenced unit. Alert signals include message tone, key beep, etc. Turn on/off the mute mode during a call Press the Mute button to mute the ringing signal at an incoming call. To connect/disconnect the microphone during conversation, press the Mute button; "MUTED" appears/disappears. "MUTED" indicates disconnected microphone. Alarm functions Personal alarm Press the red Alarm button twice within 2 seconds. "Personal alarm" is displayed. Test alarm Hold the red Alarm button until "Test alarm" is displayed. No-movement alarm The "A" icon indicates that No-movement alarm is operational. The alarm is activated when the user has not moved within 30 seconds. A warning signal sounds for 5 seconds before the alarm is activated and the "A" icon starts to blink. To cancel the alarm, press any key. If the alarm has not been reset during the warning signal, the alarm is sent. "No-movement" is displayed. Note: Your unit may have more functions than described here; see User Manual, Cordless Unit 9d23 MkII. Basic functions Make a call Dial the number and press the Call key. To end the call, press the Call key again. The total call time is shown in the display. Answer a call When the call signal sounds, press the Call key to answer the call. To end the call, press the Call key again.
