4. Fluted (crinkle) and Waffle Cuts a. Make sure removable stand 6 is placed in the holes adjacent to handle 1 in its locked position. b. Remove the black straight cutting blade 2 guard and/or julienne blade D, if installed. *NOTE: Use extreme caution the blades are sharp. c. Loosen tension nut 6, on the underside of the mandolin, by turning counterclockwise. Slide the straight cutting blade 2 towards the fluted cutting blade 3 as far as possible. Re-tighten tension nut 6 by turning it clockwise. d. Raise fluted cutting blade 3, by using the fluted blade adjustment lever 9 located on the underside of the mandolin, until the desired cutting thickness is achieved. e. Firmly grasp mandolin handle 1, on the same end as the straight cutting blade 2, making sure the cutting blades are facing up. f. Place the mandolin's opposite handle 4 and rubberized foot of the removable stand 5 on a stable cutting surface (see illustration). g. Place the safety guard A and the secured item to be cut, making sure an arrow on the safety guard B is facing the direction of the cutting motion (downward), on the mandolin above the fluted cutting blade 2. h.While applying pressure with the palm of your hand on the safety guard A, in one smooth continuous downward motion, push the safety guard A past the fluted cutting blade 3. Repeat as many times as desired. j. Waffle cuts: to make waffle cuts rotate the item being cut 90° after every cut. a. Make sure removable stand 6 is placed in the holes adjacent to handle 1 in its locked position. b. Remove the black straight cutting blade 2 guard and/or julienne blade D, if installed. *NOTE: Use extreme caution the blades are sharp. c. Loosen tension nut 6, on the underside of the mandolin, by turning counterclockwise. Slide the straight cutting blade 2 towards the fluted cutting blade 3 as far as possible. Raise fluted cutting blade 3, by using the fluted blade adjustment lever 9 located on the underside of the mandolin, until the fluted cutting blade 3 is at a height of 2mm (maximum) above the straight cutting blade 2. e. Firmly grasp mandolin handle 1, on the same end as the straight cutting blade 2, making sure the cutting blades are facing up. f. Place the mandolin's opposite handle 4 and rubberized foot of the removable stand 5 on a stable cutting surface (see illustration). g. Safety guidelines: Use extreme caution - exposed blades are very sharp - keep fingers away. Use the safety guard always. Hold mandolin so the underside is facing up. c. Remove the black straight cutting blade 2 guard. *NOTE: Use extreme caution the blade is sharp. d. Loosen tension nut 6, on the underside of the mandolin, by turning counterclockwise. Slide the straight cutting blade 2 away from the fluted cutting blade 3 as far as possible. Re-tighten tension nut 6 by turning it clockwise. e. Place chosen julienne blade D, text facing upwards, into the julienne blade holders 7. Make sure the 'cross' symbol on julienne blade D is on the same side as the corresponding symbol on the julienne blade lock 8. Slide the julienne lock 8 into place securing the julienne blade D. *NOTE: Use extreme caution the blades are sharp. f. Turn mandolin over so julienne blade D is facing up. g. Lower fluted cutting blade 3, by using the fluted blade adjustment lever 9 located on the underside of the mandolin, until the desired cutting thickness is achieved h. Firmly grasp mandolin handle 4, on the same end as the fluted cutting blade 3, making sure the cutting blades are facing up. j. Place the mandolin's opposite handle 4 and rubberized foot of the removable stand 5 on a stable cutting surface (see illustration). k. Place the safety guard A and the secured item to be cut, making sure an arrow on the safety guard B is facing the direction of the cutting motion (downward), on the mandolin above the straight cutting blade 2. l. While applying pressure with the palm of your hand on the safety guard 9, in one smooth continuous downward motion, push the safety guard 9 past the straight cutting blade 2.
