Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

Quick Start Guide THE CONTROL PANEL Model 1585 We know you're excited about owning an ASKO dishwasher and you're anxious to get started, so here's a brief summary of the operation procedures. The page references in this Guide refer to the Use and Care Guide. To get the most out of your dishwasher's features, we recommend that you read the Use and Care Guide. Model 1585 has a touchpad control panel, as illustrated below. To select a wash program or option, simply press the appropriate touchpad. When you press a touchpad, a red indicator light at the upper left of the touchpad glows to show that you selected that program or option. After you've selected the desired wash program and options, press Start. Touchpad Controls Press these touchpads to select programs and options. Indicator Lights These lights glow red to indicate which program and options you have selected. Start Stop Pots and pans Super wash Norm wash Quick wash Rinse and hold Temp Heat fan dry Cancel Start After you've selected the desired wash program and options, press this touchpad to start the dishwasher. WASH PROGRAMS AND OPTIONS Your ASKO dishwasher has several wash programs and options specifically designed to reduce your energy costs and make your life easier. Press the touchpad(s) to select the desired program and option(s). The indicator lights will come on for the program and options you select. Wash Programs Pots and pans For the heaviest soiled loads, such as pots, pans, casseroles, etc. Super wash For dishes that have been sitting with dried food on them for a while. Norm wash For normal wash loads. Options Temp Lets you select a high or low water temperature for the wash programs. (See "Temperature Options" on the next page.) The indicator light glows when it's on the high setting and remains off when it's on low. Heat fan dry Activates the heating element during the drying cycle to speed up the drying process. S tart Stop Quick wash For lightly soiled loads washed immediately after use. Items such as fine china and crystal can be washed in this program, but you should use the low temperature setting and turn the Heat dry off. (Recommend 130° F) Rinse and hold To rinse dishes that you plan to wash later that day. Start After you've selected your wash program and options, press this touchpad to start the dishwasher. If you've started the dishwasher then decide you want to change a program or an option, press and hold Start for five seconds to cancel the program and stop the machine. Then press the touchpads for your desired selections and press Start again. The drain pump will run to remove any dirty water from the dishwasher before starting the newly selected program. PROGRAM MEMORY When you select the Pots and pans, Super wash, or Norm wash program, the dishwasher retains the settings until you change them. Simply press Start to use the previous settings. If you want to use a different wash program or option, press the touchpad(s) for the desired selections, then press Start. QUICK START PROCEDURES 1. Load the dishwasher. (There's no need to pre-rinse. Simply scrape off large food particles before you load the dishes.) 2. After you've pushed the baskets back inside the unit, manually rotate the upper and lower spray arms to be sure they turn freely. 3. Make sure there is rinse aid in the dispenser. Add rinse aid, if needed. 4. Add automatic dishwashing detergent and close the dispenser cover. (See "Amount of Dishwashing Detergent to Use" below.) 5. Close the door securely. 6. Select the desired wash program and option(s). A red light appears above the selected touchpad(s). 7. Press Start. The dishwasher will start. Refer to this page in the Use & Care Guide. 3, 4 3 5, 6 4, 5 AMOUNT OF DISHWASHING DETERGENT TO USE We recommend that you use only unscented, granular automatic dishwashing detergent. Generally, one tablespoon of detergent is needed for a normal wash load. More heavily soiled items, however, may need more detergent. Also, the amount of detergent needed can vary due to differences in water hardness. The harder the water, the more detergent you may need. (See page 5.) In any case, you should never use more than three tablespoons of detergent. TEMPERATURE OPTIONS You can select high or low water temperatures for the wash programs (except Rinse and hold). The table to the right shows the temperature options for each program. We recommend that you use the lower temperatures whenever possible to conserve energy. The indicator light glows if the temperature is set on high and it remains black if set on low. Once you select a temperature option, it will remain selected until you change it (except the Quick wash program, which reverts to 130° F). Wash Program Pots & Pans Super Normal Quick Temperature Options High 160° 150° 150° 130° Low 130° 130° 130° 120° UNDERSTANDING THE INDICATOR LIGHTS When the dishwasher has finished, all of the indicator lights will come on. The lights will remain on until you open the door. When you open the door, the indicator light for the wash program you last used will come on. If you used the high temperature options and the heat dry option, those lights will come on, too. If all of the lights on the control panel flash in sequence, this means the machine has detected an overfill. (See page 7.) Should this happen, call the ASKO Advisory Center. ENERGY SAVING TIPS If you plan to wash the dishes right away, there's no need to pre-rinse. Simply scrape off large food particles and load the dishes. Wash only full loads. Use the low temperature setting whenever possible. Avoid using the Heat dry option. COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1) 2) 3) Where do I put the prewash detergent? Where do I put the rinse aid? Why does my dishwasher run so long? 1) 2) 3) ANSWERS It goes into the small compartment between the main detergent compartment and the rinse aid dispenser. (See page 4.) The rinse aid goes into the rinse aid dispenser. (See page 5.) If the temperature of the water entering your dishwasher is below 120°, the dishwasher runs longer because it heats the water to the proper temperature for the program selected. Raising your water heater setting may help shorten the cycle times. If this doesn't resolve the problem, call the ASKO Advisory Center. See "Understanding the Indicator Lights" above. See "Understanding the Indicator Lights" above. See "Understanding the Indicator Lights" above. You may be using too much detergent or washing your dishes in water that is too hot. Try using less detergent and a lower temperature setting. (See pages 5 and 8.) It's normal to have some water left in the sump area near the drain. If the water fills more than the drain area, see page 9 for possible solutions. 4) 5) 6) 7) How Why Why Why do I know when the dishwasher is done? do all of the lights stay on? are all of the lights flashing? am I getting a white film on my dishes? 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) Why is there always water left in the bottom of my machine? 8)
