Three words that express the very essence of Audi. Vorsprung durch Technik isn't a slogan. It's our way of seeing the world. It is the driving force behind our history of innovation that continues into the 21st century. Indeed, many technologies that Audi pioneered remain in our cars today. Some are milestones in the history of the motorcar. Vorsprung durch Technik makes us who we are. To see more of its influence, just read on. From our beginnings in 1899, to the Auto Union team's Grand Prix successes in the 1930s and our more recent wins at Le Mans, we have always been at the forefront of the motor industry. 5 The Audi TT is a landmark in design. The Audi TT is one of the most iconic cars in our range. Both the Coupé and Roadster are available with road-holding quattro® all-wheel-drive and fuel-efficient TDI engines the same technologies that have given us unprecedented success in the Le Mans 24-hour race. There's also a wide choice of alloys and optional upholsteries for ultimate comfort. It all means that you can enjoy driving the Audi TT purely for pleasure. 6 7 7 8 Inside the Audi TT. The Audi TT comes with a comprehensive range of equipment as standard, including a 3-spoke `flat-bottom' leather steering wheel, Sports seats and electronic climate control. There's also a wide selection of optional interior features, such as the Audi Music Interface, iPod connection and electricallyadjustable front seats, all of which you can choose when you place your order. 9 Efficiency At Audi, doing less is something we're trying to do more of. We're working to use less fuel, release less CO2 and waste less energy. It's why we've incorporated a number of more efficient technologies into the Audi TT. S tronic Efficient driving is all about thinking ahead, which is what the optional S tronic transmission does in the Audi TT. When you're accelerating in second gear, it's preparing to step up to third. Once the switch happens, it's already thinking about fourth. Thanks to two clutches working together, gear changes occur almost instantly, leading to smoother acceleration and increased economy. 10 Aerodynamics When we designed the Audi TT, we gave it a smooth, flowing shape. As a result, its drag coefficient a measure of aerodynamic resistance, which affects both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remains surprisingly low. 11 Engines Petrol There are two kinds of petrol engines available for the TT the standard petrol engine and the TFSI turbocharged directinjection engine. TFSI is a unique Audi innovation, combining turbocharging with the FSI technology originally developed for the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race to deliver increased power and torque as well as enhanced fuel efficiency. The way it does this is, in theory, very simple. Precisely the right amount of fuel and air are injected directly into the combustion chambers, enabling the engine to `breathe' more easily. At the same time, electronics monitor the engine load and adjust the injection process. The result reduced heat-loss and increased output, with around a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and significantly lower exhaust emissions. Ideal for the buyer who wants a sporty, exhilarating drive without the drawbacks of excessive fuel costs or high emissions. Diesel We introduced TDI to the roads in 1989, marking a departure from the noisy, fuel-thirsty diesel engines of the past. And since then, we've continuously refined it, recently developing commonrail technology for even more efficiency and power. Under this system, a series of piezo injectors use electrical charge to control precisely the amount of fuel injected into the engine. As well as reducing noise, this allows combustion to happen at a lower temperature, with less oxygen, which cuts down emissions. 12 Images are for illustrative purposes only Transmission Audi offers two transmission options to suit your requirements and driving style. In addition to the classic manual gearbox is an innovative, semi-automatic transmission. To help you come to an informed decision, each of these is described in detail below. S tronic (6-speed) The revolutionary S tronic gearbox combines the agility and responsiveness of a conventional 6-speed manual gearbox with the convenience and smooth, uninterrupted power of an automatic transmission. The technical basis of the S tronic gearbox is the double clutch. This consists of two lubricated plates with hydraulically-regulated contact pressure. One engages the odd-numbered, the other the even-numbered gears, enabling gear-shifts to be made in a fraction of a second, with no disruption to the power flow. Depending on how the mood takes you, you can either allow gear changes to take place automatically or, for a sportier driving style, operate the S tronic system using the gear-shift paddles on the steering wheel. Short-shift manual transmission For fast, crisp gear changes in a sporty, manual set-up, you can choose to specify your Audi TT with short-shift manual transmission. This simple yet effective gear-change pattern means that the gearstick has a shorter distance to travel between each shift-gate, minimising the effort you have to make with each up or down-shift, whilst maximising your driving enjoyment. 13 quattro® The latest generation of the tried and tested quattro® permanent all-wheel-drive system has been adapted for an even better response to different driving situations. The varying speeds of the front and rear wheels are balanced swiftly and precisely and the control electronics of the electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch take into account the various driving conditions. 14 Images are for illustrative purposes only There's direct drive for the front wheels via a differential gear and the multi-plate clutch controls the torque for the rear wheels. The map control for the multi-plate clutch allows extremely fast torque build-up, ensuring stability in bends and when driving in a straight line. 15 Standard model equipment All TT models have the following items of Standard equipment Wheels, tyres and suspension 17" x 8.5J `7-Y-spoke' design alloy wheels with 245/45 R17 Y tyres (1.8 TFSI Roadster only) Tyre Mobility System Audio and communication Audi Chorus radio, with front-loading CD player (1.8 TFSI Roadster only) Seats Front Sports seats Tetrus cloth (1.8 TFSI Roadster only) Safety and security Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) traction control Anti-theft device Thatcham Category 1 approved Driver and front passenger airbags Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) traction control Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) First-aid kit Front ISOFIX and front passenger airbag de-activation switch Locking wheel bolts Roll-over protection hoops (Roadster only) Servotronic electromechanical, speed-sensitive, power-assisted steering Side airbags for front seats Tool kit and car jack Warning triangle Interior equipment 3-spoke Sports `flat-bottom' design leather steering wheel Aluminium Laser interior detailing Black leather handbrake grip, centre console armrest pad and door handle Driver's Information System (DIS) Electronic climate control Front floor mats Fully automatic electrically-operated soft-top which opens in 12 seconds, with integrated wind deflector (Roadster only) Exterior equipment Door mirrors electrically operated and heated Electric front windows Exhaust pipes twin on left-hand side Front and rear fog lights Halogen headlights Retractable rear spoiler, which deploys and retracts automatically at set speeds or when the centre console button is pushed Aluminium foot pedals Retractable rear spoiler 17" x 8.5J `7-Y-spoke` design alloy wheels Heated front seats (optional, except on 3.2 FSI and TTS) 16 Model details and prices Additional items for 2.0 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI quattro® and 2.0 TDI quattro® models: 17" x 8J `5-arm Trapez' design alloy wheels with 225/50 R17 Y tyres Concert audio system MP3 file-compatible single CD player and radio with 9 loudspeakers (140 Watt) and 5-channel amplifier including AUX-IN socket Leather/Alcantara upholstery Split-folding rear seat (Coupé only) Additional equipment for 3.2 FSI quattro® models: 18" x 9J `10-spoke' design alloy wheels with 245/40 R18 Y tyres Enhanced braking system Exhaust pipes single on left and right-hand side in chrome rolled finish Exterior light styling pack chrome detailed headlight surrounds and darkened rear light clusters Fine Nappa leather upholstery Heated front seats Phantom black painted grille quattro® permanent all-wheel-drive 17 S line model equipment In addition to Standard model equipment Wheels, tyres and suspension 18" x 9J `5-spoke' design alloy wheels with 245/40 R18 tyres S line Sports suspension lowered by 10mm Seats S line embossed front Sports seats.
