A U T O T E C H Installation Instructions PART NUMBER(S): 10.611.199K; .202K; .203K; .204K; .205K; .206K; 207K DESCRIPTION: SportTuned STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES PROCEDURE: 1. Jack up the car and support it on jack stands. 2. Using an open ring spanner wrench, remove the standard brake lines. Note: it may be necessary to use a little penetrating oil on some of the hard line fittings. Installation Tip: To avoid rounding the flats on the VW brake line fittings, Autotech recommends using an open ring spanner wrench (Autotech part no. 99.012.009) instead of a normal open end wrench. The shape of the tool should resemble this. 3. Starting with the front brake lines, screw the male end of the line into the brake caliper first and tighten to the factory torque spec of 1 ft. lbs. Make sure that the brake line does 1 not rub against any other metal objects as the braid will gradually grind through whatever it is touching. 4. When installing the female end of the brake line, do not try to turn the end fitting of the new line with a wrench. The braided brake line ends do not swivel. The hard metal lines on your vehicle have ends that are designed to rotate. Thread the hard line into the braided lines at a torque of 1 to 14 ft. lbs. 1 5. For the rear of the vehicle, loosen the bolts mounting the rear axle beam and lower it away from the car with a rolling floor jack. This allows access to the rotating ends of the hard lines. It may be necessary to use a special brake wrench for accessing these fittings. 6. Once installed, re-attach the rear axle beam to the vehicle using the factory torque specs of 32 ft. lbs. 7 Flush your braking system thoroughly to get rid of any possible sediment. Install a new, . high quality brake fluid into the system and bleed all corners of the car until the spongy feeling in the pedal is completely gone. 8. Remove the vehicle from the jack stands and test the vehicle initially at a low speed to make sure the system is safe and functioning properly 32240-E Paseo Adelanto, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675 Phone 949.240.4000 Fax 949.240.0450 ...
