The LMTM1 provides the best possible high fidelity sound from a small enclosure, but is also classically elegant and innovative in style. The LMTM1 is one of the most versatile compact speakers on the market today. Its neat shape, flexible mounting bracket and small foot ensure that it comfortably fits the modern lifestyle. Please read this manual fully before unpacking and installing the product. It will help you to optimise its performance. B&W maintains a network of dedicated distributors in over 60 countries who will be able to help you should you have any problems your dealer cannot resolve. MOUNTING (figures 3 & 4) The LMTM1 can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, but consideration should be given to angling the speaker either left and right or up and down by moving the speaker relative to its mounting base. If the speaker is mounted on a vertical surface, we recommend that the base be turned through 180° and positioned behind the speaker. To do this simply click off the small rubber-edging strip at the front of the speaker's base, revealing the Allen key retained beneath. Use the Allen key to slacken the two bolts that hold the ball in the socket joint. Reposition the speaker relative to its base and re-tighten the two bolts. Return the Allen key to its hidden position for future use. Using the template at the rear of this manual, mark the four screw positions on the mounting surface carefully (the two at the rear of the base are hidden by rubber plugs. The two at the front of the base are hidden beneath the rubber-edging strip). Screw in the two screws used for the top two keyhole slots, leaving approximately 5mm (0.2 in) of the screw protruding from the wall. Hang the speaker on the screws and then tighten the screws. Finally screw in the two remaining screws at the bottom of the mounting base and refit the rubber covers. WARNING: YOU SHOULD USE SUFFICIENT QUALITY, SIZE AND NUMBER OF CORROSION-PROOF FIXINGS TO AN AREA OF WALL OF SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO ENSURE THAT THE SPEAKER IS SAFELY SUPPORTED. UNPACKING (figure 1) · Fold the carton flaps right back and invert the carton and contents. · Lift the carton clear of the contents. We suggest you retain the packing for future use. POSITIONING (figure 2) Position the speakers at the centre of the listening area approximately at the corners of an equilateral triangle. Keep the speakers at least 1.5m apart to maintain left-right separation. For best results we recommend you stand the LMTM1 on a shelf or attach it to a wall. Stray magnetic fields The speaker drive units are magnetically shielded such that the stray magnetic field outside the boundaries of the cabinet, except the front, is too low to cause distortion of the television picture in the vast majority of cases. There are, however, some extremely sensitive televisions ­ some that even have to be adjusted according to their alignment with the earth's magnetic field. If you have a problem, first degauss the television set with the speaker in place. Some have a button specially for this purpose. If not, switch off the set at the mains for 15 minutes and switch on again. Merely putting the set into standby mode is not sufficient. If you still have a problem, try moving the speaker either forwards or backwards a little to get a more favourable juxtaposition, or space the speaker further from the television until the distortion disappears. Because of the higher stray magnetic field in front of the speaker, we recommend you keep magnetically sensitive articles (computer discs, audio and video tapes, swipe cards and the like) at least 0.2m from the speaker. CONNECTIONS (figure 5) All connections should be made with the equipment switched off. If the speaker cable has been channelled or routed through the mounting surface the centre rubber plug in the base should be removed and the cable then routed through the exposed aperture. Ensure the positive terminal on the speaker (marked + and coloured red) is connected to the positive output terminal of the amplifier and negative (marked ­ and coloured black) to negative. Incorrect connection can result in poor imaging and loss of bass. Always make sure all the terminal caps are screwed down tight, as otherwise they may rattle. Ask your dealer for advice when choosing cable. Keep the total impedance below the maximum recommended in the specification and use a low inductance cable to avoid attenuation of the highest frequencies. AFTERCARE Avoid touching the drive unit diaphragms, especially the tweeter, as damage may result. 1 FRANÇAIS INTRODUCTION Nous vous remercions d'avoir choisi B&W. La LMTM1 est l'enceinte compacte la plus flexible du marché actuel. Sa ligne élégante, son support d'installation aux multiples options de montage et son petit pied sont en accord parfait avec les exigences de la vie contemporaine. Veuillez lire attentivement l'ensemble de ce document avant de déballer et de raccorder votre matériel. Il vous aidera à obtenir les meilleurs résultats. B&W entretient un réseau de distributeurs officiels dans plus de 60 pays ; ils sont en mesure de vous aider au cas où vous rencontreriez des difficultés que votre revendeur ne pourrait résoudre. Si les problèmes persistent, avancez ou reculez légèrement l'enceinte afin de rechercher un emplacement mieux adapté, sinon éloignez-la du téléviseur jusqu'à complète disparition des distorsions. Compte tenu de l'existence de rayonnements magnétiques plus importants par la face avant d'une enceinte acoustique, nous vous recommandons de ne pas approcher d'objet sensible (disquettes informatiques, cassettes audio ou vidéo, cartes à puces etc..) à moins de 0,20 m des haut-parleurs. Vérifiez que la borne positive (indiquée + et de couleur rouge) est bien raccordée à la sortie positive de votre amplificateur et que la borne négative (indiquée ­ et de couleur noire) est bien raccordée à la sortie négative. Un branchement incorrect procurera une image sonore de mauvaise qualité et une perte sensible des basses fréquences. Assurez-vous que les bouchons des bornes de raccordement sont bien serrés. Vous éviterez les risques de vibrations parasites. Demandez l'avis de votre revendeur lorsque vous choisissez un câble. Son impédance totale doit se situer en dessous de la valeur maximale recommandée dans les spécifications. N'utilisez que des câbles ayant une très faible inductance afin d'éviter tout risque d'atténuation des fréquences aiguës. MONTAGE (figures 3 & 4) La LMTM1 peut être installée horizontalement ou verticalement mais en prenant soin de l'orienter convenablement, vers la droite, la gauche, le haut ou le bas en la faisant pivoter autour de sa base d'installation. Si l'enceinte est fixée contre une paroi verticale, nous vous conseillons de faire pivoter la base de 180° afin de l'amener à l'arrière de l'enceinte. Pour cela, il suffit de retirer le petit joint en caoutchouc qui se trouve à l'avant de la base. Vous découvrirez la clé Allen qui se trouve dessous. Utilisez cette clé Allen pour desserrer le système de blocage du pivot sphérique. Orientez l'enceinte puis resserrez les deux boulons. Rangez la clé Allen dans sa cache, pour un usage futur. Utilisez le gabarit qui se trouve à l'arrière de ce manuel, appliquez-le contre la paroi, marquez les emplacements des quatre vis. Les deux vis arrières sont dissimulées par des bouchons en caoutchouc, les deux autres se trouvent à l'avant, cachées sous le joint en caoutchouc. Placez, en premier lieu, les vis qui se trouvent au-dessus. Laissez les dépasser d'environ 5 mm. Emboîtez l'enceinte sur les vis par les découpes en forme de trou de serrure puis serrez-les définitivement. Il ne reste plus, à présent, qu'à poser les vis inférieures et à remettre les pièces en caoutchouc à leur place. AVERTISSEMENT : N'EMPLOYEZ QUE DES ACCESSOIRES DE FIXATION DE QUALITE EN NOMBRE SUFFISANT. ASSUREZ-VOUS QU'ILS CORRESPONDENT AUX NORMES EN VIGUEUR, QU'ILS RESISTENT A LA CORROSION ET QUE LA PAROI EST SUFFISAMMENT SOLIDE POUR SUPPORTER L'ENCEINTE SANS RISQUES. ENTRETIEN ET PRECAUTIONS Il ne faut jamais toucher les membranes des hautparleurs et en particulier des tweeters, vous risqueriez de les endommager. DEBALLAGE (figure 1) · Repliez totalement les rabats du carton puis retournez l'emballage avec son contenu. · Soulevez le carton pour le vider de son contenu. Nous vous suggérons de conserver l'emballage pour une utilisation ultérieure. POSITIONNEMENT (figure 2) Les deux enceintes et le point d'écoute doivent former un triangle équilatéral. Ecartez vos enceintes d'au moins 1,5m pour obtenir une séparation gauche/droite suffisante. Pour obtenir les meilleurs résultats possibles, nous recommandons de poser les LMTM1 sur une étagère ou de les fixer contre une paroi. Champs magnétiques parasites Les transducteurs de cette enceinte sont blindés afin d'éviter les fuites magnétiques au-delà des limites de l'ébénisterie, excepté par la face avant. Les rayonnements restent, cependant, suffisamment faibles pour ne pas créer de distorsions sur l'image du téléviseur dans la plus grande majorité des cas. Il existe des téléviseurs très sensibles aux rayonnements, principalement ceux qui sont ajustés en tenant compte du champ magnétique terrestre. Si vous rencontrez un problème avec l'un de ces appareils, commencez par le démagnétiser, l'enceinte étant en place. Certains téléviseurs disposent d'une commande prévue à cet effet ; si le votre n'en dispose pas, coupez l'alimentation du téléviseur pendant au moins 15 minutes puis remettez-le sous tension. Généralement, une simple mise en veille ne suffit pas. 2 RACCORDEMENT (figure 5) Toutes les connexions doivent être réalisées lorsque les appareils sont éteints. Si le câble de liaison doit traverser le support de montage, il suffit de retirer le bouchon en caoutchouc obstruant le passe-fil et d'introduire le câble à travers le trou. Sollten dann immer noch Probleme auftreten, verschieben Sie den Lautsprecher zur günstigeren Ausrichtung etwas nach vorne bzw. nach hinten oder schaffen mehr Raum zwischen Lautsprecher und Fernsehgerät, bis die Störung beseitigt ist. Aufgrund des an der Lautsprecherfront höheren magnetischen Streufeldes empfehlen wir, bei magnetisch empfindlichen Artikeln (Fernseh- und Computerbildschirmen, Disketten, Audio- und Videobändern, Computerkarten usw.) einen Mindestabstand von 0,2 m zum Lautsprecher zu bewahren. Schließen Sie die rote und mit + markierte positive Lautsprecheranschlußklemme an die positive Anschlußklemme des Verstärkers an und verbinden Sie die negative (­, schwarze) Anschlußklemme mit der negativen Anschlußklemme des Verstärkers. Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Kappen der Anschlußklemmen gut festgezogen sind, um dauerhaft einen guten Kontakt zu gewährleisten. Lassen Sie sich bei der Auswahl der Kabel von Ihrem autorisierten Fachhändler beraten. Die Gesamtimpedanz sollte unterhalb der in den Technischen Daten angegebenen maximalen Kabelimpedanz liegen.
