Consumer replaceable/Reemplazable por el consumidor HOW TO USE This appliance is equipped with an ESP® Electric Shock ProtectorTM/ALCI (appliance leakage current interrupter) specifically engineered for safety. It is for household use and may be plugged into a standard AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current). HOW ESP®/ALCI WORKS The ESP®/ALCI safety device in this unit is built into the plug. This device will make it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as accidental immersion in water. If the appliance is immersed in water, do not attempt to reset the ESP®/ALCI safety device. Please take the unit to the nearest service facility for examination. The ESP®/ALCI safety device is equipped with a test button so that its operation can be checked. TO USE (See Fig. A): 1. Press the Reset button on the ESP®/ALCI safety device. 2. Plug your hair dryer into an AC outlet. 3. Then press the Test button. The Reset button will pop out. This verifies the safety device is operating properly. If the Reset button does not pop out, do not use the unit. Return it immediately for service. 4. Press the Reset button to reactivate the ESP®/ALCI safety device. Your hair dryer is ready for use. Repeat this procedure every time you use the hair dryer to confirm that the safety device is operational. SPECIAL ATTENTION · If the unit detects an electrical shock hazard, it will immediately shut off. To restore power, press the Reset button on the ESP®/ALCI safety device to reactivate the circuit. · This appliance is designed with a protective coating around the heating coils. When operating the first few times, you may notice momentary smoking when turning unit Off. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a defect in the unit. The smoke should dissipate within a short time. · Never block the air intake grille, as this will cause the unit to overheat. Should this happen, a built-in safety system will operate, and the unit will shut off automatically. Turn the unit Off and clear any obstruction from the air intake grille. Wait 10 minutes before operating the appliance again. If the unit fails to operate, it may indicate that the appliance has sustained extensive damage. Do not try to repair it. Take it to an electrical facility or return it to the manufacturer. See warranty for instructions. · Never touch heating section as it may be hot and can burn you. · To avoid possible scalp or hair burns, use very hot and fast setting only when hair is wet. Reduce to lower heat as hair dries. · Do not keep appliance directed at one place; keep it in constant motion. This is especially important if drying a wig, which could be damaged by heat. · For maximum airflow, hold dryer not closer to the head than six inches. · To extend the life of the dryer, it is recommended to switch it to the coolest setting for a few seconds before shutting it off. · Untwist the cord from time to time to avoid tangling. STYLING TIPS This hair dryer features a choice of two speeds and three temperature settings. Use HI for initial hair drying and for thick, hard-to-control hair. Use MED for most hair styling/setting procedures and hair types. Use LOW for finishing a hairstyle or for drying and styling permed, colortreated or fragile hair. COOL SHOTTM BUTTON: Use this feature to set the style in place. Firmly press the button until the airflow becomes cool. Release the button and the dryer automatically resumes the temperature and speed previously chosen. AIR CONCENTRATOR: The air concentrator easily attaches onto the air chamber of the dryer. The air concentrator allows airflow to be directed on a small section of hair at a time when hair is styled and shaped with a vent brush or comb. It can also be used to build body and fullness into fine, thin hair by directing the airflow against the natural growth pattern of the hair. Attachment will be hot during use. Allow it to cool before handling. USING DUAL VOLTAGE For use in the USA, the voltage selector should be in the 125-volt position. For use in several countries overseas, the voltage selector may need to be placed in the 250-volt position. Confirm the voltage available at each overseas location before using the appliance. For connection to a 220-250 volt supply, use an attachment plug adapter of the proper configuration for the electrical outlet. To change the voltage, be sure the power switch is in the OFF position. Use an appropriate tool (small screwdriver, coin, etc.) to change the setting on the voltage selector. CARE AND CLEANING This appliance is permanently lubricated and will not require any additional lubrication. It contains no user serviceable parts. Refer it to qualified service personnel if servicing is needed. 1. Unplug dryer and let it cool completely before cleaning. 2. Wipe the surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. DO NOT LET WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID GET INTO THE APPLIANCE. 3. Clean intake grille with a small brush to remove lint or hair buildup. To detach removable air intake grille, grasp grille frame, turn counterclockwise, then pull the removable grille away from the unit. To reattach align tabs on the inside of the removable grille with corresponding slots on the dryer and turn clockwise to lock into place. 4. Store dryer in a clean, dry place with cord loosely coiled. Do not put any stress on cord where it enters the handle, as it could cause cord to fray and possibly break. Do not hang unit by the power cord; use the hanging ring. Before returning unit for service: Clean the removable air intake grille as well as the fixed grille attached to the unit with a small brush or a vacuum cleaner brush attachment.
