Therefore, have corresponding work on your BMW carried out only by a BMW center or a workshop that works according to BMW repair procedures with correspondingly trained personnel. If work is carried out improperly there is a danger of consequential damage and the related safety risks.< Parts and accessories For your own safety, use genuine parts and accessories approved by BMW. When you purchase accessories tested and approved by BMW and Genuine BMW Parts, you simultaneously acquire the assurance that they have been thoroughly tested by BMW to ensure optimum performance when installed on your vehicle. BMW warrants these parts to be free from defects in material and workmanship. BMW will not accept any liability for damage resulting from installation of parts and accessories not approved by BMW. BMW cannot test every product made by other manufacturers to verify if it can be used on a BMW safely and without risk to either the vehicle, its operation, or its occupants. For better differentiation of malfunctions, different symbols can appear in the display 2. Some lamps in the indicator area 1 are checked for proper operation when the engine is started or the ignition is switched on and light up briefly in the process. Confirmation of active functions The following indicator lamps in the indicator area 1 indicate that certain functions are active: Turn signals 60 Handbrake set 55 Handbrake for Canadian models Front fog lamps 92 DTC Dynamic Traction Control 83 High beams/headlamp flasher 92 DSC Dynamic Stability Control 83 Sometimes warning lamps are also accompanied by additional text messages on the Control Display which are displayed immediately. Text messages which do not appear immediately are stored and can be displayed at a later time. This allows these functions to be operated from a central position. The following section provides an introduction to basic menu navigation. The control of individual functions is described in connection with the relevant equipment. Controls 1 2 3 Controller button: open the start menu from any menu Control Display navigate through the menus of the Control Center and change settings. To avoid posing an unnecessary hazard due to inattention, both to your own vehicle's occupants and to other road users: never attempt to use the controls or make entries unless traffic and road conditions allow.< By moving the controller 1 horizontally in four directions 4, turning 5 and pressing 6, you can Menu overview You can call up all the functions in the Control Center using five menu items. To open the start menu from the menu: Menu navigation As of ignition key position 1, the following message appears on the Control Display: Displays in menu 1 Confirm the message by pressing the controller; this opens the start menu. In menus, you can change fields to select the menu items they contain or to make adjustments. The respective current field appears brighter. Menu items are usually grouped in horizontal or vertical lists. Arrows indicate the possibility of accessing other menu items that are not currently visible. A graphical display, numerical values or text displays change. The setting is applied if you change to another field or into another menu. Changing directly to the last menu Move the controller in the corresponding direction and hold it for longer than approx. 2 seconds.
