Do connect and start up the vacuum cleaner only in accordance with the information stipulated on the identification plate. Do protect the vacuum cleaner from external weather conditions, dampness and heat sources. Do switch off and unplug the appliance before any assembly, cleaning and before servicing. Do supervise children whenever they are around an operating appliance to prevent injury to the child and possible damage from misuse of the appliance. Do switch off and unplug the appliance if it stops sucking or at the event of any other fault. Do ensure that any repair work or replacement of spare parts is only carried out by an authorized customer services department. 2 3 Do fully extend the power cord if the appliance is to be used continuously for several hours. Wool or velour carpets, particularly those with a loose pile, should only be cleaned occasionally with the turbo brush, must leave sufficient intervals in between. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Turn of all controls before unplugging. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Hold plug when rewinding onto cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding. Unplug before connecting the Turbo Universal floor brush. Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer`s recommended attachments. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Do not vaccum up sharp objects to prevent injuries when opening or emptying the appliance. Do not use a damaged vaccum appliance. Do not operate the brush on or next to people or animals or let the brush get close to your face or head to prevent entanglement or possible injury from flying debris. Do not operate the brush if any part of it is damaged to prevent injury to the operator or bystanders. Do not reach into the running brush roller Do not drive over the power cord while the brush roller is running. Do not leave the turbo brush standing on the carpet when the brush roller is rotating, it must be kept moving (could damage the pile). Do not use the turbo brush to clean another electrical appliance. Do not immerse any part of the vacuum cleaner or turbo brush in water. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS! Do not re-use or wash the filters except the motor protection filter. Set the vacuum power dial on the canister to maximum power when using the turbo brush Then adjust the nozzle power by turning the slide control on the turbo brush for the right carpet lenght: = long pile carpets = short pile carpets This enables an optimum cleaning effect for the different flooring. To switch your vacuum cleaner on, press the On/Off button in direction of arrow. Only brush the fringes in the direction of the arrow. The button can also be pressed using the swing handle. Vacuuming with accessories (attach to ERGOGRIPTM handle or suction pipe as required). Crevice nozzle For cleaning crevices and corners. Use the slide control to adjust the suction to the required level. Upholstery nozzle For cleaning upholstered furniture, curtains, etc. min max 8 9 After work Furniture brush For vacuuming picture frames, books, delicate furniture, etc. Rewinding the power cord. Tug the power cord and let go (the cable automatically rewinds). Small accessories that you do not need can be stored in the vacuum cleaner lid. To store or transport the vacuum cleaner, use the storage aid on the underside of the cleaner. Stand the vacuum cleaner up on its end. Slide the catch on the floor tool into the groove on the underside of the appliance. You can use the parking aid on the back of the appliance during short pauses in vacuuming after switching off the vacuum cleaner. To do this, slide the catch on the floor tool into the groove on the back of the appliance. To remove the flexible hose, press the release button and pull out the hose. The vacuum cleaner can also be carried using the swing handle when negotiating obstacles such as stairs. 10 11 Changing the dust bag If the dust bag change indicator in the cover is completely yellow when the floor tool is lifted off the floor and the highest suction setting is selected, the dust bag must be replaced even if it should not be completely full yet. In this case it is essential to change the dust bag due to the type of material it contains. The nozzles, suction pipe and flexible hose should not be blocked, as this will also trigger the dust bag change indicator. Place a new MEGAfilt®SuperTEX dust bag in the holder and close the dust bag compartment lid. Caution: The cover only closes when a MEGAfilt®SuperTEXdust bag has been inserted. Open the cover by moving the locking lever in the direction of the arrow. Cleaning the motor protection filter The motor protection filter should be cleaned at regular intervals by tapping it or washing it out. Open the dust compartment cover. Remove the motor protection filter in the direction of the arrow. Empty the motor protection filter by tapping it. Seal and remove the MEGAfilt®SuperTEX dust bag by pulling on the tab as shown. If the motor protection filter is very dirty, wash it out. Leave the filter to dry for at least 24 hours. After cleaning, insert the motor protection filter in the machine and close the dust compartment cover. 12 13 Maintenance Replacing the micro-hygiene filter The micro hygiene filter should be changed when starting a new pack of bags. Open the dust bag compartment lid Unlock the filter holder by pushing the locking tab in the direction of the arrow. Always switch off the vacuum cleaner and pull out the plug before performing any maintenance work. Remove the turbo brush from the steel / telescopic tube. Cut off any wrapped around hair or threads using a pair of scissors. Remove the foam and micro-hygiene filter. Place a new micro-hygiene filter and the foam in the filter holder. Insert the filter holder back into the vacuum cleaner and click it into place. Then vacuum up the threads and hair using the crevice tool. Replacing the HEPA filter If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA filter, this should be replaced once a year. Open the dust bag compartment lid Unlock the HEPA filter by pushing the locking tab in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the vacuum cleaner. Before the appliance is cleaned, ensure that it has been switched off and unplugged. Vacuum cleaners and accessories made of plastic can be cleaned using a general commercial plastic cleaner. Do not use scouring agents, glass or all-purpose cleaners. Never immerse the vacuum cleaner in water! If necessary, the dust compartment can be cleaned using another vacuum cleaner, or simply cleaned with a dry dust cloth / dust brush. Insert the new HEPA filter and click it into place.
