Return appliance to an authorized service center for examination, electrical repair, mechanical repair or adjustment. · The use of attachments, including canning jars not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury. · Do not use outdoors. · Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces. · Keep hands and utensils out of the jar while blending to prevent the possibility of severe personal injury and/or damage to blender. A rubber spatula may be used but only when the blender is not running. · Blades are sharp. Handle carefully. · To avoid injury, never place the blade unit on the power base without the jar properly in place. · Always operate blender with lid in place. · When blending hot liquids, keep the vent holes around the measuring cap open to allow steam to escape. · Allow hot liquids to cool down to a lukewarm temperature before pouring into the jug. Note: This appliance has a polarized plug (one prong is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fill fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way. HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY 3 Your new blender Congratulations on having selected a Bosch blender; blenders that we feel are the best available. Use the appliance for processing normal quantities of food for domestic use. Please keep the operating instructions. If passing on the appliance to a third party, always include the operating instructions. Quantities The appliance is suitable for preparing the following quantities: MMB 2000 UC 3 ½ oz/ 100 g max. 3 pints/ 1.75 liters max. 1½ pints/ 0.75 liters MMB 1000 UC 3 ½ oz/ Solid food 100 g max. 3 ½ pints/ Liquids 2.0 liters max. 1¾ pints/ d Hot or frothing liquids 1.0 liters To process ice or frozen food, set the rotary switch to position M". Operating q Clean the appliance and accessories before using for the first time. q Attach the blender jug (1.) and rotate fully into posi tion in a clockwise direction (2.). q Add ingredients. q Attach the lid and press down until it locks into position. d Allway hold the edge of the lid while operating the blender. 5 1. Pull the cord out of the housing and insert the plug into outlet. 2. Switch on the appliance: MMB 1000 UC: Move the rotary switch to the desired setting. M 0/off 1 2 Pulse switch at maximum speed, grip switch for required blending duration Stop Low speed setting Maximum speed setting MMB 2000 UC: Before use, push to extend the rotary switch. Move the switch to the desired position. M Pulse switch at maximum speed, grip switch for required blending duration 0/off Stop Variable operating speed; operating speed steplessy adjustable 3. Allway grip the edge of the lid while operating the blender. Do not grip the feed tube. 6 Adding more ingredients 1. Set the rotary switch to "0/off". 2. Remove the lid and add more ingredients. or 3. Pour in more liquid trough the funnel in the lid. Add solid ingredients trough the filler tube in the lid. 4. Move the rotary switch to the desired position. After blending 1. Set the rotary switch to "0/off". MMB 2000 UC: also retract the rotary switch; press in the switch and release slowly. 2. Remove the blender jug by rotating it in counter clockwise direction. Take the lid off the blender jug. Tip: It is recommended that the blender jug be cleaned immediately after use, see "Cleaning and servicing". 7 Cleaning and servicing d Warning! Never immerse the motor block and the blades in water and do not clean in the dishwasher. Note: Do not use abrasive cleaning agents as these will damage the surfaces. 1. Pull out the plug. 2. Remove the mixer from the motor block. 3. Wipe the motor block with a damp cloth and wipe dry. 4. Disassemble the blender: Detach the blender motor base from the blender jug by rotating it in an counter clockwise direction. Follow the wording on the underside of the blender support. 5. Disassemble the blender support: Carefully take the blade compartment out of the blender support. 6. Carefully remove the sealing ring from the blade compartment. Blades are very sharp. 8 7. Disassemble the cover: Take the funnel out of the filler tube in the lid and remove the lower part of the lid. 8. Clean the blender jug, individual parts of the lid as well as the blender motor base in the dishwasher or with normal household detergent. 9. Clean the blade compartment and sealing ring with a brush under running water only. Detergent will impair the bearing lubrication. 10.Re assemble in reverse sequence. Troubleshooting d Risk of electric shock! Fault Blender does not start Before rectifying a fault, pull out the plug. Remedial action Correctly attach the blender and rotate fully into position. Blade is blocked. Switch off the appliance, empty out the contents and refill. Switch on the appliance again. Rotate the blender fully into position. The blender switches off during operation d If any other faults occur, contact Customer service. 9 Recipes The blender is suitable for - blending and frothing liquids, - cutting and chopping raw fruit, vegetables, nuts and chocolate, - pureeing soups, cooked fruit and vegetables, - preparing mayonnaise and sauces. Mayonnaise 1 egg 1 heaped tsp. mustard 1 tbs. vinegar or lemon juice 1 pinch of salt 1 pinch of sugar 1 cup oil Ingredients must be at the same temperature. 1. Switch on the blender at low speed. 2. Process the ingredients (except the oil) at low speed for several seconds. 3. Switch the blender to maximum speed, slowly pour the oil trough the funnel and blend for approx. 1 minute. Maximum quantity: Double the quantify of the basic recipe. Hot chocolate 2 3 fl oz cooled cooking chocolate 2 cups hot milk Whipped cream and grated chocolate as required 1. Cut the cooking chocolate into pieces (approx. ½ inch) and chop up completely in the blender at maximum speed. 2. Switch off the blender and add the milk through the funnel. 3. Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed. 4. Pour the hot chocolate into glasses and serve with whipped cream and grated chocolate as required. 10 Banana milk shake 2 3 bananas 2 3 heaped tbs. vanilla or lemon ice cream Few drops of vanilla flavoring 2 cups milk 1. Blend ingredients at maximum speed for approx. 1 minute. Fruit sundae 8 oz fruit (e.g. strawberries, banana, orange, apple) 1¾ oz 3½ oz sugar 2 cups cold water Ice as required 1. Peel fruit and cut into pieces 2. Blend all the ingredients at maximum speed for approx. 1 minute. 3. Serve with the ice cream Citrus cocktail 2 3 oranges 1 2 lemons ½-1 tbs. sugar or honey 1 cup apple juice 1 cup mineral water Ice cube as required 1. Peel the oranges and apples, cut into pieces 2. Blend the ingredients (except the apple juice and mineral water) at maximum speed for approx. 1 minute. 3. Add the apple juice and mineral water 4. Blend briefly until the drink is frothy. 5. Pour the cocktail into glasses and serve as required with ice cubes 11 Salsa 2 4 dried red chili pods (Chile De Arbol) 2 large garlic cloves ½ bunch fresh cilantro 8 oz can tomato sauce 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp ground cumin ½ tsp salt Puree water, garlic and chili peppers for 30 seconds. Add all other ingredients and blend until cilantro is finely chopped. Add additional tomato sauce or water if salsa is too hot. 2 cups fruit juice (banana/strawberry/pineapple or tropical mix) 2 cups frozen fruit (strawberrries, melon, peaches, berries or mix) ½ can frozen juice concentrate (berry mix or tropical mix) 1 cup peach jogurt (or any flavor) 1 banana 1 2 cups ice Blend all ingredients until smooth.
