ALL OTHER SERVICING REFER TO A QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL. 2 Inspecting & Unpacking Although the shipping carton and packaging materials are designed to prevent damage during shipment, you should inspect the carton for any signs of mishandling or damage immediately upon receiving your new unit. Carefully lift the unit from the carton and inspect it for any signs of damage. Save all packaging materials for possible later use. Note: Any shipping damage or loss claims must be submitted to the freight agent. Your carton and packaging should contain the following: · CD/Cassette/AM/FM Radio · Owner's Manual · Califone Warranty Registration Mail-In Card · Project Intercept Tag Initial Set-Up AC Line Operation 1. The power cord is located at the rear of the unit. Release the cord retainer tab and uncoil the cord. 2. Plug the cord into a standard 120 volt 50-60 Hz AC outlet. Be sure the plug blades are fully inserted. THE UNIT IS ON STANDBY WHEN PLUGGED IN. Battery Operation 1. The battery compartment is located at the rear of the unit. Push the lever at the center of the door toward the rear of the unit, then lift the door free. 2. Eight "D" or UM-1 size batteries are required. When installing refer to the orientation diagram shown inside the battery compartment. Place the batteries on top of the nylon ribbon. This helps to "pop" old batteries out when you need to replace them. 3. Replace the battery cover. IMPORTANT: Remove all batteries from your cassette unit if it will not be used for an extended period of time. DO NOT LEAVE DISCHARGED BATTERIES IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. DAMAGE TO THE UNIT DUE TO BATTERY CORROSION IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. Pushing the LED will cause the LED to be green indicating the unit is fully powered up. · Depressing the `Function' (4) button will cause the LCD display to show `Tape'. `AM/FM' or `CD'. Electronic Volume Control Display DIGITAL VOLUME CONTROL VOLUME · Press `VOL ' (7) to reduce the volume, the level will be shown in the LCD panel. Minimum volume will show `00' on the LCD display. Press `VOL ' (8) to increase the volume. Maximum volume is `30' as shown on the LCD display. NOTE: Audio level may be inaudible below "16." BBS CONTROL · Press the "BBS" (10) to select "BBS ON" or "BBS OFF" VOL 16 EQ CONTROL · Press "EQ" (9) to select the equalizer as sequence. BBS On BBS OFF POP> JAZZ PASS> CLASSIC> ROCK> RADIO OPERATION TUNING IN RADIO STATIONS 1. Press "Function"(4) to select the equalizer as sequence. 2. Press "AM/FM" (5) to select the desired waveband: FM or AM. 4 RADIO OPERATION (continued) AM/FM AM 520KHz FM 87.50MHz 3. Press and hold CD/TUNER (14) or CD/TUNER (15) button until a radio station with sufficient signal strength is found. Repeat this procedure until the desired station is reached. 4. To tune into a weak station briefly press CD/TUNER (14) or CD/TUNER (15) repeatedly until the display shows the desired frequency or when the best reception has been obtained. 5. Extend the telescope antenna and adjust for best reception. Note: For FM Tuning, ((ST) will show on the LCD display when stereo sound is obtained. STORING PRESET STATIONS You can store up to 10 radio station for FM and 10 for AM in the memory. When a preset radio station is selected. The preset number appears on the display. Note: If power is turned OFF (or standby switch not "green") the memory will be lost. PROGRAMMING STATIONS 1. Press FUNCTION to TUNER mode. 2. Press AM/FM (5) to select the desired wave band: FM or AM. 3. Press CD/TUNER (14) or CD/TUNER (15) to tune to the desired frequency. AM 520KHz 00 P__01 MEMORY FM 87.50MHz 4. Press "PROGRAM" (17) on the unit or remote control, the "PROGRAM" and"01" will start flashing. The current preset number will be displayed for selection. 5. If you wish to store the radio station to another preset number, press the "ALBUM PRESET" (11) or the "ALBUM PRESET" (12) to select the desired preset number. 6. Press PROGRAM (17) on the unit again to restore the radio station. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to store other preset radio stations. Note: During program, if no button is pressed within 5 seconds, the system will exit program mode automatcally. If power is removed the station memory is lost. SELECTING STATION Press "ALBUM PRESET" (11) or "ALBUM PRESET" (12) to select the desired preset number. The preset number, radio frequency, and PROGRAM will appear on the display. 5 Memory Display FM MONO/STEREO Press "MONO/STEREO" (41) to select mono or stereo mode. When stereo mode is selected, ((ST)) will appear on the display (if current station is FM stereo.) 87.50MHz STEREO Note: Only FM is able to select "STEREO" or "MONO" MONO MUTE · Press "MUTE" (6) to cut off the volume, the MUTE display will flash. MUTE (Flashing) MUTE CD/MP3 FUNCTION LOADING A CD or MP3 Disc 1. Press the FUNCTION (21) to select CD mode. "CD" will appear on the display, and then "CD" will be replaced by "NO DISC." 2. Lift up the CD door (18), then "OPEN" will be shown on the display. 3. Place a CD or MP3 disc on the tray with that label facing up. 4. Close the CD door. The system will automatically read the content of the CD or MP3 disc; if a CD disc is loaded, the LCD display will total the number of tracks and the total playing time. CD CD ESP Total Track No. 16 65 : 19 Total Playing Time If an MP3 disc is loaded, total Album number, tracks, "ESP" and "STOP" will be shown on the LCD display. 6 07 ESP o33 STOP 5. To remove the disc. press the STOP (23) button and then open the door, handle the disc by its edge, do not touch the playing surface and carefully remove it from the player. CD FUNCTION The 2385AV-03 CD Player will accept 12 cm and 8 cm discs and will read MP3, CD, CD-R and CD-RW media formats. 1. With a CD loaded into the system, press the PLAYER/PAUSE (19). The current track number and elapsed playing time will be shown on the display. 2. To interrupt the play, press the PLAY/PAUSE (19). The elapsed playing time will start flashing on the display. Playing Track 1 Playing track 1 - PAUSE/(Flashing) 0101 : 03 0101 : 40 3. To resume the play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again. 4. To select a desired track, press the (20) OR (21) button repeatedly until the desired track appears on the display. 5. To fast search for a particular passage during playing, press and hold the (20) or (21) button and release it when the desired passage is located. 6. To end the play, press the STOP (23) button. MP3 1. With an MP3 disc loaded in the system, press the PLAY/PAUSE button (11) to start playing from track 001 of Album 01, or use the "ALBUM PRESET" (11) or "ALBUM PRESET" (12) and (20) or (21) button to select the desired Album and track. 2. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (19). The information of MP3 file will show as. 07 ESP Song Name File: Title: Artist: Album Artist Note: When the data of File, Title and Artist information is loaded to the MP3 file before recording, the LCD will display when playing. Otherwise, UNKNOWN will show on LCD display. 7 3. To interrupt the play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button (19). The Album No., track no. and played time will show on the LCD display as: Album Number Playing Track No. 07 ESP Played Time 001 00:10 4. To resume the play, press the PLAY/PAUSE (19) again. 5. To select a desired Album press the "ALBUM PRESET" (11) or the "ALBUM PRESET" (12) repeatedly until the desired Album appears on the display 6. To select a desired track, press (20) or (21) button repeatedly until the desired track appears on the display. 7. To fast search for a particular passage during playing, press and hold the (20) or (21) button and release it when the desired passage is located. 8. To end the play, press the STOP (23). PROGRAM PLAY OF CD Up to 10 tracks on a disc can be programmed for play in any desired order. - First select the CD/MP3 mode and load a disc that you want to program. - The tracks must be programmed in the stop mode. - The same track can be programmed more than once. 1. In stop mode, press the PROGRAM (17) "00P -- 01" will be displayed. 000 P__01 MEMORY 00 ESP 2. Select a desired track which will be shown on the display by pressing the (20) and (21). 3. Press the PROGRAM (17 ) to store the selected track. "PROGRAM" and "00 P -- 02" will be shown on the display. 4. Repeat steps 2-3 to select and store other desired tracks. 5.
