BY USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. This is a license agreement (the "Agreement") between you and Canon Inc. ("Canon"). IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM ON THE CD-ROM (INCLUDING ALL SOUND AND IMAGE DATA) AND THE USER MANUAL IN THIS BOX (COLLECTIVELY, THE "SOFTWARE") AND PROMPTLY RETURN THE SOFTWARE TO YOUR POINT OF PURCHASE FOR A REFUND. In consideration of the right to use the SOFTWARE, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of this Agreement. 1. LICENSE: Canon grants you the personal, non-exclusive right to use the SOFTWARE only on a single computer. You may physically transfer the SOFTWARE from one computer to another provided that the SOFTWARE is used on only one computer at a time. You shall not install or use the SOFTWARE on a network, multiple CPU, multiple site arrangement, or any other hardware configuration where the SOFTWARE is accessible to more than one CPU or to more than one user. With respect to the sound and image data ("Data") contained in the Software, which are to be downloaded to the applicable Canon digital camera product, Canon grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to use the Data on a single Canon digital camera product only. YOU SHALL NOT ASSIGN, SUBLICENSE, RENT, LEASE, LOAN, CONVEY OR OTHERWISE USE, TRANSFER, COPY, TRANSLATE, CONVERT TO ANOTHER PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE, ALTER, MODIFY, DECOMPILE OR DISASSEMBLE THE SOFTWARE, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED IN THIS AGREEMENT. 2. BACK-UP COPY: You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE solely for back-up purposes, or copy the SOFTWARE onto the permanent storage device (e.g. a hard disk) of your computer and retain the original for back-up purposes. Any other copying of the SOFTWARE is a violation of this Agreement. You must reproduce and include the copyright notice on the back-up copy. 3. SUPPORT AND UPDATES: Neither Canon, nor its subsidiaries, dealers or distributors will be responsible for providing maintenance or support for use of the SOFTWARE. No updates, fixes or support will be made available for the SOFTWARE. 4. LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: It is your responsibility to choose, maintain and match the hardware and software components of your computer system. Thus Canon does not guarantee uninterrupted service or correction of errors or that the functions or performance of the SOFTWARE will meet your requirements. THE SOFTWARE IS LICENSED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF ANY KIND. The CDROM storing the SOFTWARE is warranted only against defective material under normal use for a period of ninety (90) days after purchase from an authorized Canon dealer as evidenced by your sales receipt. Your sole remedy for a defective CD-ROM shall be replacement of the same without charge when returned by you at your expense to your point of purchase and proven to be defective upon inspection. The Replacement CD-ROM will be warranted for the remainder of the original ninety (90) day warranty period of the defective CD-ROM. The limited warranty does not apply if the failure of the CD-ROM resulted from accident, abuse or misapplication of the SOFTWARE and shall not extend to anyone other than the original user of the SOFTWARE. 2 EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH IN THIS PARAGRAPH 4, CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES, DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE. NEITHER CANON NOR ANY OF CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES, DISTRIBUTORS OR DEALERS IS LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES HOWSOEVER CAUSED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL LOSS OR DAMAGE INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, EXPENSE OR INCONVENIENCE HOWSOEVER CAUSED OR ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF. TERM: This Agreement is effective upon your using the SOFTWARE and remains in effect until expiration of all copyright interests in the SOFTWARE unless earlier terminated. You may terminate this Agreement by destroying the SOFTWARE. This Agreement will also terminate without notice to you if you fail to comply with any of the terms of this Agreement and you must then promptly return the SOFTWARE. In addition, Canon may enforce its other legal rights. 6. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS NOTICE: The SOFTWARE is a "commercial item," as that term is defined at 48 C.F.R. 2.101 (Oct 1995), consisting of "commercial computer software" and "commercial computer software documentation," as such terms are used in 48 C.F.R. 12.212 (Sept 1995). Consistent with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 and 48 C.F.R. 227.7202-1 through 227.72024 (June 1995), all U.S. Government End Users shall acquire the SOFTWARE with only those rights set forth herein. Manufacturer is Canon Inc./30-2, Shimomaruko 3-chome, Ohta-ku, Tokyo 146-8501, Japan. 7. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS: You agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions and regulations of the country involved, and not to export or re-export, directly or indirectly, the SOFTWARE in violation of any such laws and restrictions and regulations, or without all necessary approvals. 8. SEVERABILITY: In the event that any provision of this Agreement is declared or found to be illegal by any court or tribunal of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be null and void with respect to the jurisdiction of that court or tribunal and all the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect. 9. CONTROLLING LAW: The terms of this Agreement as it relates to purchases of the Software in the United States of America shall be governed and construed in all respects in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of New York, without reference to choice of law principles. The terms of this Agreement as it relates to purchases of the Software in Canada shall be governed by the laws of the province of Ontario. E 3 READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING 10.OWNERSHIP: All rights, including but not limited to copyrights and trade secret rights, to the SOFTWARE belong to Canon, its affiliated corporations and third party licensors. Your use of the SOFTWARE is subject to the laws of the United States, and Canada, and other applicable copyright and trademark laws, and nothing in this Agreement constitutes a waiver of the rights of Canon, its affiliated corporations and third party licensors under such laws. You only own the CD-ROM media in which the Software is stored. Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right, express or implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to you for any intellectual property of Canon. Nothing contained in Paragraph 1 shall be construed to give Canon any ownership rights in any images, graphics or textual material that you save in connection with the Software. You may not modify, remove or delete any or all copyright notices (i) which are contained in the Software, including any copy thereof, and (ii) which are on the original CD-ROM and on the medium of a back-up copy made pursuant to Section 2 above. 11.ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: BY USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTOOD IT, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS. OS: Windows 98 (First or Second Edition) Windows Me Windows 2000 Windows XP (Home Edition, Professional) * Proper operation is not guaranteed on an OS that has been upgraded from a previous version. Computer Model: Computers that come with above OS preinstalled and have built-in USB ports. A CD-ROM drive is required to install the software. E 9 Windows System Requirements Not all operations performed with a connection to a USB 2.0 compatible board can be guaranteed. 10 What Can Be Accomplished with the Software This topic introduces the main features of the software programs contained on the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows. TWAIN Driver ( 14) TWAIN Driver is the driver software for Windows 98 and Windows 2000 that is required for downloading images from a memory card to a computer. WIA Driver ( 14) WIA Driver is the driver software for Windows Me that is required for downloading images from a memory card to a computer. ZoomBrowser EX ( 19) · Downloading images from a memory card to your computer. · Categorizing, organizing, and searching large volumes of images. · Creating mail attachments from still images. (Your e-mail software needs to be enabled as MAPI client.) · Exporting images. · Saving images on CD-R/RW Disks (Windows XP only). MovieEdit Task ( 35) · Linking images. · Inserting text and background music, and adding effects. MovieExport Task ( 39) Changing the size or file format of selected movies and saving them as new files. PhotoRecord ( 53) · Laying out and printing still images. · Printing indexes. · Creating still image albums. PhotoStitch ( 58) Merging panoramic images. This instruction manual explains how to install the software, what you can do with the main features and how to operate them. For more detailed operational instructions, refer to the Help menu of each software program. E 11 Windows Installing the Digital Video Software Be sure to install the Digital Video Software before connecting the camcorder to the computer. Users of Windows 2000 or Windows XP must first log in as an Administrator to install programs. Windows XP Users: Your digital video camcorder is equipped with the standard Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP). This protocol enables you to download images by simply connecting the camcorder to a computer with the USB cable (the software such as the [Scanner and Camera Wizard] starts automatically). However, please note that there are several limitations to downloading images with this method. To avoid these problems, install ZoomBrowser EX to download images. It may take a few minutes, after connecting the camcorder, until you can download images. Images protected on the camcorder may lose this setting once they are downloaded to the computer. 1. Check a camcorder is not connected to the computer. While a camcorder is connected to the computer, the software cannot be installed normally. If a camcorder is connected, detach the USB cable from the computer. 2. 3. Close any programs that are running. Set the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows in the computer's CD-ROM drive. · The installer panel opens automatically. · If the installer panel does not appear automatically, use the following procedures to display it. Windows 98/Windows Me/Windows 2000: 1. Double-click the [My Computer] icon. 2. Right-click the CD-ROM icon and select [Open] from the displayed menu. 3. Double-click the [Setup.exe] icon. Windows XP: 1. Select [My Computer] from the [Start] menu. 2. Right-click the CD-ROM icon and select [Open] from the displayed menu. 3. Double-click the [Setup.exe] icon. Depending on the setting of your computer, the file extension ".exe" may not appear. 12 4. 5. Select your language. E Click Digital Video Software [Install]. For details about the DV Network Software, refer to the DV Network Software Instruction Manual. Installer Panel If the following dialog appears, click [Restart] to restart the computer. After restarting the computer, installation automatically continues. 13 Windows Installing the Digital Video Software 6. Click [Next]. 7. Select [Easy Installation] and click [Next]. To install the software individually, select [Custom Installation]. When you select [Custom Installation], select a USB driver. (Windows XP: The USB driver supplied with the Windows operating system is used. You do not need to install a USB driver.) - Windows 98/Windows 2000: Canon DV TWAIN Driver - Windows Me: Canon DV WIA Driver 8. 9. Select your country/region and click [Next]. Read the license agreement and click [Yes]. 14 10.Review the installation settings and click [Next]. · Installation starts. · If the "Digital signature not found" message appears, click [Yes]. E · When the following window appears, click [OK]. This window only appears if you installed the TWAIN Driver or the WIA Driver. 11.When installation is complete, select [Yes, I want to restart my computer now.] and click [Finish]. 15 Windows Installing the Digital Video Software 12.When the computer has restarted and the regular desktop screen is displayed, remove the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows from the CD-ROM drive. When installation is complete, remove the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows before you connect the camcorder to the computer. Windows 98/Windows Me/Windows 2000: At this point, the files for the TWAIN Driver or WIA Driver have only been copied to your computer. To download images via USB connection, finish installing the TWAIN Driver or the WIA Driver. 16 Connecting the Camcorder to a Computer Make sure the camcorder is being powered using the power adapter before connecting it to a computer. Be sure to install the Digital Video Software before you connect the camcorder to the computer. Connect the USB cable directly to one of the computer's main USB ports. The interface may not function correctly if the camcorder is connected via a USB hub. The connection may not operate correctly if you are using other USB devices, excluding USB mice or keyboards, at the same time. If this occurs, disconnect the other devices from the computer and try reconnecting the camcorder. Do not connect two or more camcorders to the computer. The camcorders may not operate normally. Never allow the computer to go into standby (sleep) mode while a camcorder is connected via the USB interface. If it does happen, never disconnect the USB cable. Try to awaken the computer with the camcorder in the connected state. Some computers will not awaken properly if you disconnect the camcorder while they are in standby mode. Please refer to your computer manual for instructions regarding its standby mode. Refer to your computer manual for the location of the computer's USB ports. See your camcorder instruction manual for connecting instructions. E 1. 2. 3. 4. Insert a memory card containing images into the camcorder. Connect the power adapter to the camcorder. Turn the POWER switch to PLAY (VCR) and move the TAPE/ CARD switch to CARD. Wait until the card access indicator stops flashing. Attach the supplied USB cable to the computer's USB port and the camcorder's USB Terminal. · The first time you connect the camcorder to the computer: - Installation of the DV TWAIN Driver (Windows 98/Windows 2000) or the DV WIA Driver (Windows Me) starts. - If the "Digital signature not found" message appears, click [Yes]. - After a few moments, a message such as "New Hardware Found" appears and the driver will be installed automatically. - If you are prompted to restart the computer, restart the computer. 17 Windows Connecting the Camcorder to a Computer · Windows 98/Windows 2000/Windows XP: A window appears allowing you to select an application program to start. Windows Me: The Scanners and Cameras Wizard starts. Click [Cancel] to close the Wizard. · For instructions on how to start ZoomBrowser EX and download images to the computer, see Downloading Images ( 19). USB Terminal on the Camcorder USB Cable Camcorder End Computer End USB Port on the Computer 18 Downloading Images (ZoomBrowser EX) Observe following precautions when the camcorder's card access indicator is flashing (the camcorder is reading or writing from or to the memory card). Failure to do so may cause memory card data to become corrupted. · Do not open the memory card cover, remove the memory card or detach the USB cable. · Do not turn off the camcorder or the computer. · Do not change the position of the POWER switch or the TAPE/ CARD switch. Images recorded onto the memory card or downloaded to the hard disk are important original data files. Create a copy of the file first before working on it on your computer. For Windows XP Users: · Do not rotate the image in the [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer] or in the explorer view. The file format of the original image will be changed and the image can no longer be displayed in ZoomBrowser EX or on the camcorder. · A movie file exceeding 210 MB cannot be downloaded. · If the Server Busy window appears when you connect the camcorder to the computer, click [Retry]. E You cannot connect the camcorder to a computer if the memory card contains more than 1800 images. For best performance, we recommend keeping the number of images on the memory card below 100 when downloading images to the computer. For instructions on how to connect a PC card reader/writer, see Using a PC Card Reader/Writer ( 25). 19 Windows Downloading Images (ZoomBrowser EX) Starting ZoomBrowser EX 1. 2. Connect the camcorder to the computer ( When the Camera Window is open, close it. 17). Select [Canon CameraWindow] and click [OK]. · Windows XP: If the window does not appear or if "PC CONNECT" does not appear on the camcorder screen, click the Windows [Start] menu and select [All Programs], [Canon Utilities], [CameraWindow] and [CameraWindow Set Auto-Launch]. · Windows 2000: If [Canon CameraWindow] is not listed, click the Windows [Start] menu and select [Programs], [Canon Utilities], [CameraWindow] and [CameraWindow Set Auto-Launch]. · Windows Me: If the window does not appear, click the Windows [Start] menu and select [Programs], [Canon Utilities], [CameraWindow] and [CameraWindow Set Auto-Launch]. · If a camcorder and PC card reader are connected at the same time, a dialog appears allowing you to select the camcorder model. Confirm that [Canon Camera] or your camcorder model name is displayed and click [OK]. 20 3. Click [Set]. E · The [CameraWindow (Launcher)] icon appears on the taskbar. · Windows Me: If the following dialog appears, click [OK]. To change the settings, you need to restart the computer. 21 Windows Downloading Images (ZoomBrowser EX) · The [CameraWindow - Download image(s)] windows opens. - [Start Image Download]: ZoomBrowser EX starts. The Camera Window opens and images will be downloaded to the computer. For details, see Auto-Downloading ( 22). - [List Images]: ZoomBrowser EX starts. The Camera Window opens, displaying the camcorder images as thumbnails (small images). Using the Computer to Download Images You can select a downloading method in the [CameraWindow - Download Image(s)] window. Auto-Downloading Click [Start Image Download] in the [CameraWindow - Download Image(s)] window. For instructions on how to set the Auto-download settings, see AutoDownloading Settings ( 79). 22 Downloading Images from the Camera Window 1. 2. Click [List Images] in the [CameraWindow - Download Image(s)] window. ZoomBrowser EX starts and the Camera Window opens. E In the Camera Window, select the image you wish to download and click [Download image]. · An orange frame appears around the selected image. · You can select multiple images by continuously clicking on the images. The downloaded images appear in the Main Window. Using the Camcorder to Download Images (Direct Transfer Function) If your camcorder supports the Direct Transfer Function, you can use the camcorder to download images. When you followed steps 1 to 3 in Starting ZoomBrowser EX ( 20), the direct transfer menu appears on the camcorder screen and the (print/share) button lights up each time you connect the camcorder to the computer. Select a transfer option on the camcorder screen and press the button. · See your camcorder instruction manual for how to set and operate the camcorder to transfer images. · For instructions on how to change the destination folder and the folder name, see step 4 in Auto-Downloading Settings ( 79). · The button cannot be used when it is not lighted. · You can set the action that is carried out for direct transfer. Right-click the [CameraWindow(Launcher)] icon on the taskbar and select an action from the displayed menu. - [Show image(s) in fullscreen mode]: Displays downloaded images in full screen mode. - [Launch ZoomBrowser EX]: Starts ZoomBrowser EX after downloading the images. - [Show Window]: The [Camera Window - Download Image(s)] window appears when you connect the camcorder to the computer. 24 Using a PC Card Reader/Writer The basic operations of ZoomBrowser EX are the same as when you connect the camcorder to the computer. Follow the procedure below to open the Camera Window. For instructions on how to connect the PC Card Reader/Writer, please refer to its manual. E 1. 2. Insert a memory card containing images recorded with the camcorder into the reader. Windows 98/Windows Me/Windows 2000: Double-click the [ZoomBrowser EX] icon on the desktop. Windows XP: When a window appears allowing you to select an application program to start, select [Download/View Images using ZoomBrowser EX] and click [OK]. ZoomBrowser EX starts and the [CameraWindow - Download Image(s)] window opens. Move on to step 5. 3. Click [Camera & Memory Card]. 25 Windows Downloading Images (ZoomBrowser EX) 4. Click [Browse & Download Images]. If multiple PC card readers loaded with memory cards are connected or if a camcorder and a PC card reader are connected, a selection dialog will appear before the [CameraWindow - Download Image(s)] window opens. Select one of the devices to proceed and click [OK]. 5. Select a downloading method. · [Start Image Download]: ZoomBrowser EX starts. The Camera Window opens and images will be downloaded to the computer. The Camera Window opens, displaying the camcorder images as thumbnails (small images). · [Browse Images with ZoomBrowser EX]: ZoomBrowser EX starts and the Main Window opens. 26 Using Other ZoomBrowser EX Functions Camera Window The Camera Window opens when a connection to a camcorder is initiated. Images will be displayed as thumbnails (small images). Movies are displayed with the first scene as a still image, indicated with a movie icon. Buttons are activated when an image is selected. Indicates that it has been downloaded to a computer. Thumbnails Images are displayed in reduced size. E Task Area Toolbar Movie icon Task Area Downloads selected images to the computer. Prints selected still images. Menu options: Layout Print and Contact Sheet Print. [View as slideshow]: Starts a slide show after downloading the selected still images to the computer. [Connect to Internet]: Attaches selected still images to an e-mail message. Toolbar [Set]: Adjusts the connection settings and camcorder settings. Menu options: Reconnect, Camera Settings, Slide*/DPOF, Add Image(s) and My Camera. (*The Slide function cannot be used.) Selects images. Menu options: Select All, Select New, Select Print mark, Select Send mark, Select Slide Show mark and Invert Selection. Deselects images. Rotates still images. Menu options: 90 degree left, 90 degree right and 180 degree. Deletes selected images. Displays image information (such as shooting date/time and image size). Displays help topics. [Download image]: [Print]: [Select]: [Deselect]: [Rotate]: [Delete]: [Properties]: [Help]: 27 Windows Using Other ZoomBrowser EX Functions Download Settings Window The following window appears when you select a task in the Task Area of the Camera Window. Select a folder in which you wish to download and save the image. If you wish to create a new folder, select [Create new folder] and select the item you wish to use as folder name. If you leave this box without check mark, the images will be named in the form of "IMG_XXXX.JPG". If you place a check mark in this box, you can designate a file prefix. The images will be named "file prefix + XXXX.JPG". Camera Settings Window You can adjust the date, time and owner settings in the Camera Settings window using the computer when the camcorder is connected. You can also check the battery charge and remaining memory card capacity, and format the memory card. 1. In the Camera Window, click the [Set] button and select [Camera Settings] from the displayed menu. 2. Check or change the settings. Click [OK] to close the window. Input a camcorder owner name here (up to 31 characters). Set the date and time here. Click this button to synchronize the camcorder to the computer's date and time settings. Check the power status here. Check the remaining memory card capacity here. Click this button to format the memory card in the camcorder. 28 Main Window ZoomBrowser EX's Main Window features various buttons and an image display area. This section introduces the names and functions of the various window parts. Clicking hides the area. Click again to redisplay the area. E Toolbar Task Area Folders Area Select image folders here. As in Windows Explorer, you can view the contents of the folders. Browser Area Displays the images contained in the selected folder. Task Area (Main Menu) [Camera & Memory Card]: Use this to display the Camera Window, download images or change the My Camera Settings. Menu options: Browse and Download Images, Upload Images and My Camera Settings. Prints selected still images. Menu options: Layout Print and Contact Sheet Print. Use this to view or edit images. Menu options: View as a Slide Show, Export Images, Edit Image, Stitch Photos, Edit Movie, Search, Export Movies and Backup to CD. Attaches selected still images to an e-mail message. [Print]: [View & Modify]: [Internet]: 29 Windows Using Other ZoomBrowser EX Functions Toolbar [View Mode]: Selects the view mode. Menu options: Scroll Mode, Zoom Mode and Preview Mode. Scroll Mode: Displays the images in the selected folder at a large, easy-toview size. When there are more images than can fit in the Browser Area, a scroll bar appears at the right of the Browser Area. When a folder has been created within the selected folder, the folder appears as an icon. Zoom Mode: When a folder has been created within a folder, it displays all images within the nestled folder. Selecting the magnifying glass (+ or ­) and clicking a folder or an image in the Browser Area changes the size at which an image is displayed or the folder level. You can also zoom up by double-clicking an empty part of the Browser Area or the tab of a folder name. Preview Mode: Displays one image at a large size. You can review file name, comment, histogram and image information. Select the preview image from the bottom of the Main Window, or by clicking [Previous] or [Next]. Selects the size at which images are displayed in the Browser Area. Menu options: 80 × 80, 160 × 160 and Column Number. It can only be selected in [Scroll Mode]. Displays a still image in the Image Viewer window, or opens a window for playing back a movie. [Thumbnail Size]: [View Image]: 30 [Properties]: Displays image information (such as shooting date/time and image size). If you select an image in the Browser Area while the Properties window is open, the information in the window switches to the contents of the selected image. E You can change the file name or enter a comment. Click here to mark the image as Favorite. Opens the View/Modify Keywords window. You can mark the image as Favorite and add a keyword. Switch between images with this button when more than one image is selected. [Rotate]: [Delete]: Rotates selected still images. Deletes selected images. 31 Windows Using Other ZoomBrowser EX Functions Image Viewer Window The Image Viewer window appears when you double-click a still image, or when you select a still image and click [View Image]. Zoom You can change the zoom ratio. Color, Brightness and Contrast You can adjust the color, brightness and contrast by dragging the respective slide. Crop You can extract a part of the still image. 1. Click on the still image and drag to form a rectangular frame. You can move or change the size of the frame. 2. Click this button to extract the area within the frame. The extracted part of the still image appears. 32 Playing Back Movies From a Memory Card In the Camera Window and Main Window, movies are displayed with the first scene as a still image with a movie icon ( ). When you double-click the thumbnail in the Main Window, QuickTime Player starts and plays back the movie. If QuickTime 3.0 or a later version is not already installed on your computer, install the QuickTime from the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK. Place the disk in the CD-ROM drive and click QuickTime [Install] in the installer panel. Do not double-click a movie file (.AVI extension) in Windows Explorer. That will start Windows Media Player, which may not support this file type. To play back movies, double-click the thumbnail with a movie icon in the Main Window's Browser Area. E 1. In the Main Window, double-click a thumbnail with a (movie) icon. Windows QuickTime Player starts. 33 Playing Back Movies From a Memory Card 2. Click the e (play) button in QuickTime Player. The movie will be played back. 34 Editing Movies (MovieEdit Task) You can link images, insert text and background music, and add effects. You can also change the size of selected movies and save them as new files. QuickTime 5.0 or a later version is required to edit movies. If it is not already installed on your computer, install it from the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows. Place the disk in the CD-ROM drive and click QuickTime [Install] in the installer panel. E 1. Click [View & Modify] in the Main Window. 2. Click [Edit Movie]. 35 Windows Editing Movies (MovieEdit Task) 3. Select images and click [Arrange]. You can select multiple images or a folder to include all images in that folder. 4. Arrange images and click [Apply Effect]. To change the order of images, select an image in the Storyboard Area and click [Move Left] or [Move Right]. Plays back the movie being edited. Transition Box Displays the symbol of the transition effect between linked images. Storyboard Area Displays thumbnails of the selected images. The images will be linked from left to right. 36 5. Apply effects to the images and click [Set Audio]. When you select [Apply effects to image], you can use the following functions. - [Text Effect]: Opens the [Text Effect Settings] window. You can enter text, change the font and preview the effect. - [Filter Effect]: Opens the [Filter Effect Settings] window. You can set the filter effect type, the start and end point, and preview the effect. - [Transition Effect]: Opens the [Transition Effect Settings] window. You can set the transition effect type and display time, and preview the effect. To set a transition effect, you need to select a transition box in the Storyboard Area. E 6. Set the audio and click [Save]. When you select [Set Audio], you can use the following functions. - [Add Audio]: Opens the [Add Audio] window. You can add a MP3 or a WAV file as background music. - [Advanced Settings]: Opens the [Advanced Audio Settings] window. You can adjust the audio level of a movie or an audio file and apply audio faders. To set the advanced audio settings, you need to select a movie or an audio file which you added. 37 Windows Editing Movies (MovieEdit Task) 7. Click [Save]. Movies are saved as AVI files in Motion JPEG format. -----------------------------------movie_07_v11----------------------------Destination Folder 8. Click [Exit]. 38 Exporting Movies (MovieExport Task) You can change the size or file format of selected movies and save them as new files. QuickTime 5.0 or a later version is required to export movies. If it is not already installed on your computer, install it from the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK For Windows. Place the disk in the CD-ROM drive and click QuickTime [Install] in the installer panel. Still images cannot be selected. For instructions on how to export still images, see Exporting Images ( 61). E 1. Click [View & Modify] in the Main Window. 2. Click [Export Movies]. 39 Windows Exporting Movies (MovieExport Task) 3. Select a movie and click [Select the save format]. You can select multiple images or a folder to include all images in that folder. 4. Select a file format and click [Set the save format]. 5. Specify the export settings and click [Specify name of file to be saved]. 40 6. Specify the file name and click [Start export]. In each case, specify the destination folder and file name of the movie to be exported. E The Main Window appears. 41 Windows Destination Folder Running a Slide Show You can view selected still images in a slide show. Movies cannot be selected for a slide show. 1. Click [View & Modify] in the Main Window. 2. Click [View as a Slide Show]. 3. Select the images and click [Setup Slide Show]. 42 4. Select the slide show settings. · [Image Size]: Select the size of the still images. · [Image Information]: Select to show image information such as file name or title. · [Advance to Next Slide]: Select to advance manually or automatically. When you select "Every 3 seconds", you can select the interval in the control below (from 1 to 120 seconds). · [Loop]: Select to stop the slide show after the last image or to continuously run it in a loop. · [Effect]: Select the transition effect to be used when moving from one slide to another. When you click an effect, you can check the effect in the preview window. E 5. Click [Start Slide Show]. Click in the lower right corner to end the slide show. 43 Windows Searching Images You can search for images marked as your Favorites or by modification date, shooting date or keywords. You can mark images as Favorites ( 47) and add keywords ( 47). Searching Images 1. Click [View & Modify] in the Main Window. 2. Select the folder in which you wish to search for the image and click [Search]. 44 3 Specify the search conditions. · Place a check mark beside the parameter you wish to use. · If you selected [Modification Date] or [Shooting Date], set the date range. If you selected [Keywords], select the keywords. E Clicking here hides the search parameter details. 4. Click [Start Search]. The images matching the conditions will be displayed. 45 Windows Searching Images 5. Click [Finish]. To change the search parameters and perform another search, click [Specify Search Condition] and repeat steps 3-4. The images of the search result are displayed in the [Search Results] folder. You can print or copy these images to another folder. The images will remain in this folder until ZoomBrowser EX is closed or another search is performed. 46 Setting Parameters for Future Searches 1 2. Select an image in the Browser Area. E Select [View/Modify Keywords] from the [Tools] menu. 3. Click here to mark as a favorite photo. Place a check mark beside the keyword you wish to use. To add a keyword, type the new word in the box and click [+]. 47 Windows Place a check mark beside [Favorite Photo] or the keyword you wish to use and click [OK]. Searching Images The symbol shown below is displayed on images marked as Favorites Favorites Symbol You can add and delete keywords. Open the Manage keywords window by selecting [Manage keywords] from the [Tools] menu. 48 Adding Sound to an Image You can add a sound to an image. The sound file needs to be in WAVE format (extension ".wav") or in MIDI format (extension ".mid" or ".midi"). The sound cannot be played back on the camcorder. E Adding Sound to an Image 1. In the Main Window, select an image and select [Add/ Remove Sound] from the [Edit] menu. The Sound window appears. 2. Click [Add]. A window appears allowing you to select a file. 3. 4. Select the sound file and click [Open]. Click [OK]. · appears on the image. · The sound file will be copied to the same folder as the image. To remove sound from an image, select [Remove] on the Sound window in step 2. disappears and the copied sound file will be deleted. Playing Back the Sound In the Main Window, select the image with the sound attachment and select [Play Sound] from the [Edit] menu. The Play Sound window appears and the sound will be played back. 49 Windows Attaching Still Images to E-mail Messages You can attach selected still images to an E-mail message. To use this function, the e-mail software must be enabled as MAPI client. For details, refer to the instruction manual of the e-mail software. 1. Click [Internet] in the Main Window. 2. Click [Email Images]. 50
