The front panel of the APA4204 holds the external fuse as well as connections for power, speakers, input and output, as shown in Figure 1. On the APA4204, the gold-plated power terminals are labeled (left to right) as REMOTE (remote turn-on) , GROUND, BATTRY. The speaker terminals are also gold-plated. The INPUT and OUTPUT connectors on the APA4204 are gold-plated RCA jacks, marked [L] for the Left channel and [R] for the Right channel. 1. 2. English Adjusting the Bass Extender The APA4204 Bass Extender control is designed to work in either the 4-channel mode (functional on channel 3 and 4 only), 3-channel mode (functional on bridged channel), or in the bridged 2-channel mode where only channel 3 and 4 inputs are used. Note:Clarion recommends setting the frequency of the low-pass filter before attempting to adjust bass response with the Bass Extender control. To "boost" low frequency bass information in your car audio system, Clarion recommends starting the Bass Extender GAIN control set at 0 dB. Listen to a variety of music styles (Rock, Rap, R&B, etc...) and slowly increase the GAIN control until no noticeable increase in low bass response is perceived. Adjust the GAIN control up or down slowly to realize the best low bass response. Caution: If the subwoofer begins to "pop" (speaker over excursion), lower the GAIN control or decrease the filter crossover frequency to prevent speaker damage. If the subwoofer begins to sound muddy and distorted (amplifier clipping), lower the GAIN control to avoid constant amplifier shutdown from overheating or until clear bass response returns. Italiano Regolazione dell'estensione dei bassi Il comando per l'estensione dei bassi è stato studiato per funzionare sia nella modalità a 4 canali (operativo solo sui canali 3 e 4), sia in quella a 3 canali (operativo sul canale a ponte), sia in quella a 2 canali derivati, ove si faccia uso degli ingressi dei soli canali 3 e 4. Nota: La Clarion consiglia di effettuare la predisposizione della frequenza del filtro passabasso prima di passare alla regolazione della risposta dei bassi per mezzo del comando di estensione dei bassi. Per "aumentare" le informazioni alle basse frequenze del proprio sistema car audio, si consiglia di iniziare predisponendo il comando GAIN di estensione dei bassi sulla posizione iniziale di 0 dB. Ascoltare una certa varietà di tipi di musica (rock, rap, canzoni, ecc.) ed aumentare lentamente i valori del comando GAIN sino ad un punto in cui non si notano più ulteriori aumenti nella risposta dei bassi. Da questo punto procedere a regolare il comando GAIN verso l'alto o verso il basso, sino a quando si riesce ad ottenere la risposta dei bassi più vicina ai propri gusti. Avvertenza: Se il subwoofer inizia ad avere dei "ritorni" (sovraescursione dell'altoparlante), abbassare il comando GAIN, o diminuire la frequenza di incrocio del filtro, per prevenire possibili danni agli altoparlanti. Se invece il suono del subwoofer sembra "fangoso" o distorto (sbavature dell'altoparlante), abbassare il comando GAIN per evitare che l'amplificatore si disattivi automaticamente per un certo periodo di tempo a causa di surriscaldamento, o almeno sino a quando la risposta dei bassi ritorna ad essere nitida. This makes for an extremely stable supply of power despite the harsh power fluctuations and environmental changes particular to cars. In addition, a toroidal choke coil and differential coil filter are used to provide clear sound with no pulse noise. Designed for high sound quality A low-noise, high slew rate operational amplifier and layered film capacitors reproduce the energetic low bass and clear, undistorted sound provided by such digital sources as Compact Discs and MiniDiscs. Low distortion and wide output range The APA4204 offers stable playback with high output simultaneously from the four channels and low distortion even beyond the range of frequencies audible to the human ear. Distortion is low in the playback frequency range even when signals are simultaneously output to all channels . Bass extender circuitry Adding "boost" to low frequency sound information produces rich, full bass tones that are normally difficult to reproduce in the car audio environment. The Clarion APA4204 car audio amplifier contains a "High Q"(narrow) Bass Extender Circuit with an adjustable gain control. The Bass Extender controls act much like an equalizer, allowing from 0 to +12 dB of gain. Clarion's Bass Extender circuit frequency is set to a 40 Hz tone center. The bass extender gain adjustment compensates for less than ideal subwoofer enclosure designs used in many car audio installations. A channel mode selector switch provides the following high output (rated): · 4-channel mode ...50W × 4 · 3-channel mode ...50W × 2+130W × 1 · 2-channel mode ...130W × 2 High pass/low pass variable electronic crossovers The APA4204 incorporates a selectable High Pass or Low Pass electronic crossover for all 4 channels. In both cases, the crossover point is fully adjustable between 50 Hz to 200 Hz and features a -12 decibel per octave roll off.
