Read these instructions carefully before use. AC POWER OPERATION Unravel the AC cord and connect it to a convenience located AC outlet. Press the Standby/on/Alarm/off button to switch the unit off or on.The Clock Display will show 12:00 and needs to be set. If the AC cord is disconnected or if there is a power failure, this electronic clock is designed to continue operating internally (without showing the time on the Clock Display) with a 9 volt battery (not included). To install the battery, slide down the compartment cover at the back of unit) to open. Then, connect the battery to the terminals of the battery snap inside the compartment (use of an alkaline battery is recommended) and slide the battery compartment cover back into place. Be sure to check the condition of the battery periodically by disconnecting the AC cord and connecting it again 2 or 3 minutes later. The preset times should continue operating. If the clock resets to 12:00 on the Clock Display, it indicates the battery is dead or not connected properly. 9V BATTERIES PRECAUTIONS Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device: 1.Use only the size and type of batteries specified. 2.Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the battery compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device. 3.If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent or injury from possible battery leakage. LISTENING TO THE RADIO OPERATION m Press the Standby/on/Alarm/off button to turn the unit on or Auto, the STANDBY Indicator will light for Auto position. 4 m Turn the Buzzer/Tuner/CD button to Tuner position, and press FM /AM button to the desired band (AM or FM) and tune a station by turning the TUNING control. m When a strong FM stereo signal is received, the FM ST. indicator will light and the sound will be heard in stereo. m Adjust the VOLUME control as desired. ANTENNA For FM reception there is a built-in one-metre FM aerial wire at the rear of the unit. Unravel the wire and move it around to obtain the best reception. to obtain the best reception. You may have to move the unit IMPORTANT Since movement of the CD mechanism and the sensitive circuitry may cause interference to a radio tuner nearby, switch this unit off while operating other radio devices. CONCERNING COMPACT DISCS Only compact discs identified with this mark can be used with this player. HANDLING COMPACT DISCS To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges. 5 Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc's recorded surface with a soft cloth. Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc. Small dust particles and light stains will have absolutely no effect on reproduction quality. Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays, benzine, or thinners to clean compact discs. These chemicals can irreparably damage the disc's surface. Discs should be returned to their cases after use. This avoids serious scratches that could cause the Laser pickup to skip. Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, or high temperatures for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures can warp the disc. Do not stick paper or write anything with a ballpoint pen on the label side of the disc. LOADING AND UNLOADING COMPACT DISCS LOADING AND UNLOADING COMPACT DISCS m Press the Standy/on/Alarm/off button to turn the unit on. m Press the Buzzer/Tuner/CD button to the CD position. m Press the right side of the CD door, labelled PUSH OPEN/CLOSE to open the CD compartment. m When the disc compartment has opened, insert the disc with the label side facing up. Push down in the centre until disc is locked in place. m Close the disc compartment by pressing the PUSH OPEN/CLOSE. When the compartment is fully closed, the disc will start turning automatically. The total number of tracks will appear in the display. m The disc compartment may be opened at any time by first pressing the stop button and then pressing the PUSH OPEN/CLOSE. Remove the CD only after the compartment has fully opened. CAUTION Do not put anything except a compact disc into the compartment. Foreign objects can damage the mechanism. Keep the disc compartment closed when not in use to prevent dirt and dust from entering the mechanism. Never place more than one disc into the disc compartment at any time. If the disc is correctly loaded, the total number of tracks on the disc will be displayed: 6 Notes:After the disc compartment is fully closed, the disc information may not appear on the display. This means that the disc is improperly loaded (most likely it is upside down). To check, open the disc compartment again and reload the disc. DISC PLAY m Insert a CD as described in the previous section and close the disc compartment. m The display will then show the total number of tracks. m Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback. m Adjust the VOLUME control as desired. To skip backward or forward through the tracks on the disc, press the or buttons. m When the disc is through playing, it will stop. Press STOP button to stop disc before it is finished. m When CD is playing or on the stop, the display will appear TIME instead of CD track number and time. If you want to display the CD track number and time, press CD DISPLAY button. Notes: - If the disc is deeply scratched, or too dirty, disc play may not start. If an improperly centred disc is played, noise can be heard in the mechanism. The use of such discs should be avoided. - If the disc is inserted incorrectly, or the disc is damaged the display will show No disc. DISC ERRORS This compact disc player has built-in error compensation circuits to correct for minor defects in a disc. There are limits, however, to the amount of correction available. In some cases, the CD player may skip some tracks,or parts of tracks, on a disc during disc play. This problem may be caused by defects (such as scratches) in the disc being played, which are too large for the error compensation circuits to handle. If you encounter this problem, check the CD player's operation as follows, before having the unit serviced: Play a new disc. If the CD player operates normally, the skipping problem is probably due to a defective disc. TO STOP A CD PART WAY THROUGH Press the STOP button. Disc play will stop and the display will show the total number of tracks. 7 To temporarily stop disc play (pause mode), press the Play/Pause button. Disc play will stop at the current play position. The track playing time will flash. To resume disc play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again. REPEAT/RANDOM DISC PLAY Use the REPEAT/RANDOM button to listen to an entire disc, one track repetitively. FOR REPEAT/RANDOM PLAY OF ONE OF THE TRACKS m Press the Repeat/Random button once. The Repeat/Random indicator will flash. Select the desired track by pressing the or buttons. Press the Play/Pause button. The selected track will then begin playing through to its end. At which point it will automatically return to the beginning of that track. This will continue until the stop button is pressed. m Press the Repeat/Random button twice. The Repeat/Random indicator will light up. Press the Play/Pause button. The disc will then begin playing through to the end of the last track. At which point it will automatically return to the beginning of the first track. This will continue until the Stop button is pressed. m Press the Repeat/Random button third, the CD player will play tracks in a randomly generated sequence. This will cancel the Stop button is pressed. PROGRAMMED DISC PLAY m Insert a CD as described in the previous section and close the disc compartment. m Turn CD/Tuner/Buzzer button to the CD position. At stop mode. m Press the PROGRAM button, the Program Indication will light and P 01 will show on the display, select the first track to be played back using the SKIP forward/backward buttons, then press the PROGRAM button again. m Repeat this step to program additional tracks up to a maximum of 20 tracks. m Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin Program playback and adjust the VOLUME control as desired. m To skip forward or backward through the programs, press the Skip Forward or Skip backward buttons. m When the disc is through playing, it will stop. Notes: - Press the STOP button to stop the program before it is finished. 8 - To clear the memorized tracks,press the PROGRAM button to enter the Program mode (PROGRAM indicator will blink) and then press STOP button or open the CD door as explained. - Programming is the ability to select the order in which a series of tracks will be played. - Each track may be stored in the program memory as many times as desired (up to 20 tracks). m When the disc is through playing, it will stop. CLOCK SETTING TO SET OR RESET THE ACTUAL TIME m On the STANDBY/ON mode, press and hold the CLOCK/ADJ for 2sec. The display will show 24H. m Release the CLOCK/ADJ button twice and use MIN or HOUR to select the CLOCK m To set the minute: press the MIN button until the present minute appears in the display. m To set the hour: press the HOUR button until the present hour appears in the display. m If you desired to startup 12H mode, press the CLOCK/ADJ button once more, the display will show 12H. The MINUTE and HOUR set procedure are same as above. TO SET OR RESET THE ALARM TIME m Press ALM1 button, the time will flash in the display and the ALM1 indicator light. m To set the wake minute: press the MIN button until the desired wake minute appears in the display. m To set the wake hour: press the HOUR button until the desired wake hour appears in the display. Waiting for 5 seconds, the ALARM will be set successfully. m Press ALM2 button, the time will flash in the display and the ALM2 indicator light. m To set the wake minute and hour, the procedure is the same as the ALM1. TO SET ALARM TO WAKE TO BUZZER/TUNER/CD m On the BUZZER position, when the setting alarm time started, the alarm will ring. m On the CD position and also there CD disc in the CD component , when the setting alarm time started, CD will play automatically. m On the TUNER position, when the setting alarm time started, TUNER will player automatically. 9 TO SHUT THE ALARM OFF m Press the STANDBY/ON button to stop the Alarm ring immediately. m Press the SNOOZE button, the SNOOZE indicator will light. The Alarm ring will be stopped temporarily and it should be continue ringing after 6mins. TO ACTIVATE THE SLEEP FUNCTION Your CD micro system can be set to switch off automatically afer a preset period of between 15 and 90 minutes. m While the unit is on , press the SLEEP button on the unit the display will show 90 and SLEEP Indicator lights on. m Successive pressing of the SLEEP button reduces the time by 90/60/30/15 with each press. For example if you want the system to switch off in 30 minutes press the SLEEP button three times. m Afer approximately five seconds the sleep function is registered. The display reverts to its previous state, SLEEP stops flashing and remains on . Note: You have approximately five seconds between successive pressing of the SLEEP button before the sleep function is registered. m To remove the sleep setting press the SLEEP button again. SLEEP will be removed from the display. HEADPHONE Headphones should have a 3.5mm diameter stereo plug and an impedance of 8-32 ohms.When headphones are connected, the speakers are automatically disconnected. 10 MAINTENANCE AND CARE Electronic products of this kind should never be subjected to extreme temperatures or high humidity. For instance, this set should not be placed in bathing areas or around stoves and radiators. If necessary, clean the unit with a piece of cloth dampened with water only (Be sure the AC Power Cord is disconnected from the Mains). Never use a polish or a strong detergent as this will damage the finish of the cabinet. This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet the highest international standards, but, like any electrical apparatus which is operated at mains voltage, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be assured.This is particularly important with audio equipment.
