Revision 1.6 RackAccess i Series 3 User Guide RackAccess 8i & RackAccess 16i Introduction The RackAccess 8i and 16i are compact 1U high rack mountable TFT Screen, keyboard and mouse, with integrated kvm switch (SCOUTutp). Available in 3 screen sizes 15", 17" and 19" Product Features Integrated SCOUTutp 8 or 16 port KVM switch. Available with integrated IP control (SCOUTip). Operating system independent, transparent to all applications. Supports PS/2, USB and SUN computers through an adapter for each platform. Menu Press the Menu button to activate the on screen display screen. It is a toggle key, switching the OSD on and off. Press twice to turn off the OSD. The OSD screen will automatically turn off after 10 seconds idle time. 6. + & Select keys / Brightness Control keys The two keys have two sets of functions: When OSD screen is not activated, the two keys are used to adjust the brightness When OSD screen is activated, the two keys are used to select the required adjustment items RackAccess i Series 4 User Guide Power switch 7. Use the power switch to turn ON or OFF power. We recommend turning your system on first, then the LCD monitor. Adjusting the Monitor The LCD monitor is designed to work with a range of compatible video adapters on the market. Due to all the possible variations between these video adapters, you may need to adjust the settings for your video card. Use the + & key to select auto-adjustment, then press key to get optimized quality. Introduction ­ Integrated SCOUTutp Switch The built in KVM switch (SCOUTutp) will ensure easy and accurate control of up to 16 PCs through a single console. The SCOUTutp is compatible with PS/2, USB and SUN style computers. It has keyboard and mouse emulation for error free boot-ups. Switching between PCs can be accomplished through keyboard Hot Key commands, or through the OSD (On-Screen-Display). Installation Before connecting your computers and console devices to the SCOUTutp switch, please ensure that all devices are powered off. 1. Connecting the computers with an UTP patch cable and a PS/2 adapter : 1.1. Connect the blue HD 15-pin male connector to the VGA port on your computer. 1.2. Connect the purple PS/2 (6-pin Mini DIN) keyboard connector to the PS/2 keyboard port on your computer. 1.3. Connect the green PS/2 (6-pin Mini DIN) mouse connector to the PS/2 mouse port on your computer. 1.4. Connect the UTP cable with the PS/2 adapter and the desired SCOUTutp computer port. Connecting the computers with an UTP patch cable and a USB adapter: 2.1. Connect the blue HD 15-pin male connector to the VGA port on your computer. 2.2. Connect the USB connector to a USB port on your computer. 2.3. Connect the UTP cable with the USB adapter and the desired SCOUTutp computer port. Connecting the computers with an UTP patch cable and a SUN adapter: 3.1. Connect the blue HD 15-pin male connector to the VGA port on your computer. 3.2. Connect the SUN connector to the keyboard & mouse port on your computer. 3.3. Connect the UTP cable with the SUN adapter and the desired SCOUTutp computer port. Power up the RackAccess. 2. 3. 4. RackAccess i Series 7 User Guide Using the SCOUTutp Note: Before switching your computers on, please configure non PS/2 computers emulation type in the OSD! The SCOUTutp provides two possibilities to select the desired computer. You may use either the keyboard Hot Key commands or take advantage of the OSD (On-Screen-Display). You may notice that the mouse cannot be used for around 1 second when the SCOUTutp switches to another computer. This is normal and is caused by the synchronization process which ensures that the mouse operates correctly. Keyboard Hot Key commands To send Hot Key commands to the SCOUTutp switch, press and release the Ctrl key twice within 2 seconds. Press a command key for the desired effect. The following commands are supported: First Key Ctrl Second Key Ctrl Command Key Port number Confirmation Key Enter Command Result Switches to the desired PC In Auto-Scan mode, the image shown on the monitor will automatically switch to the next computer. The delay is user definable OSD (On-Screen-Display) To access the OSD, press the Hot Key twice and the OSD window appears: Lines with blue text show active computers, lines with grey text show inactive computers.
