dtx1000 KEYBOARD INSTALLATION SHEET WARNING: Installation of this equipment should only be carried out by qualified personnel. There are no user-serviceable parts fitted. PROCEDURE: (1) Connect the monitor output from the Base Unit to the monitor via the Keyboard. This is a passive unterminated link for text insertion. Ensure that the coax cable is terminated at the monitor. (2) Connect the 9 pin "D" connector to the relevant keyboard socket on the Base Unit: Monitor 1 - Keyboard 1 Monitor 2 - Keyboard 2 (3) One Keyboard can be powered from the Base Unit via the connector. In remote situations however, or where a second "Slave" Keyboard is used, a "power plug" power supply has to be used which is fitted between a local mains power outlet and the rear of the Keyboard. (4) Operating instructions can be found in the Base Unit Telemetry Transmitter Installation Handbook. KEYBOARD REMOTELY SITED FROM THE BASE UNIT Communications between the Keyboard and the Base Unit are RS232 8 - data, no parity, 1 stop bit at a speed of 9600 baud. Direct cable links of up to 50 metres should function normally. Beyond this distance , any of the proprietary cable extenders may be used e.g. DVST, modems, fibre optics, telephone/infra red/microwave links or the drxLD Line Driver, without any difficulty. CABLE CONNECTIONS Ground Data to Keyboard Data from Keyboard Power (optional) pin 5 pin 3 pin 2 pin 1 White Green Blue Red POWER CONNECTIONS The Keyboard will work on a floating 9 Volt a.c. power supply (fully isolated), or a fully isolated 9 to 12 Volt d.c. power supply.
