From the dynamo crank alone, even with no battery pack installed. · Earphone jack ­ 3.5mm stereo earphone socket. · Cell-Phone charger output jack 3.5mm. · Can be operated on three AA size batteries. · Incorporates a fine-tuning control knob superimposed on the main tuning control knob. · Built-in light source. · Pleasant audio from the 2 1/2 inch speaker. · All antennas built-in: telescopic antenna for FM and SW; internal ferrite bar antenna for AM. · Dimensions: 6.7W x 6.5H x 2.5D · Weight: 1.3 lbs. 2 ABOUT THE BUILT-IN RECHARGEABLE BATTERY The built-in rechargeable battery is a nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack. It is charged by cranking the dynamo rapidly, about two turns per second, resulting in up to 60 minutes of low volume radio play when the battery is fresh. The battery pack is located in the battery compartment and can be replaced once it no longer holds a charge. In North America, replacements can be purchased directly from Eton Corporation. The generic specifications are: Ni-MH, 3.6 volt DC, 600 mAh. The replacement's voltage must be 3.6 volt DC, the milliamp-hour rating may be larger or smaller, e.g. 200 mAh or 800 mAh and the polarity must match red-to-red and black-to black on the plug-in cord. Since these are portable telephone batteries, they are available at many retail stores. 3 USING DYNAMO POWER Turning the dynamo crank charges the built-in Ni-MH battery pack. It can be charged while the radio is playing or turned off, however it does not charge as efficiently when charged while playing, thus reducing playtime. With hand-crank dynamo charging, radio operation time depends on the number of turns and time per turn. With a fresh battery pack, 90 seconds of vigorous cranking, at about 2 turns per second, results in up to 60 minutes of radio play at low volume, without light use. If the light is on while playing the radio, radio playtime is somewhat reduced. 1. Switch the power selector to the OFF position. 2. Turn the dynamo-crank vigorously either clockwise or counterclockwise. The red charging LED will be lit while charging. 3. To turn the radio on, switch the power selector switch to the center DYNAMOADAPTOR position. 4 5 5 FR250 OPERATION MANUAL 4 AA BATTERY OPERATION The FR250 is designed to operate on three AA batteries (not included). Best overall performance results with the use of alkaline or lithium AA batteries. Rechargeable AA batteries can also be used, however they must be charged in their own external charger. Lithium AA batteries are more costly and harder to find, yet provide two to four times the play-time of alkalines and provide a much longer shelf-life. Install the batteries by removing the battery compartment cover and following the battery polarity diagrams imprinted on the underside of the cover. Remove the cover by simultaneously pressing on the indentation labeled OPEN and pulling it down toward the bottom of the radio. To play the FR250 on its AA batteries, turn the radio on by setting the power selector switch to the BATTERY position. NOTE: When an AC adaptor is in use, the AA batteries are 6 EMERGENCY OPERATION WITH NO POWER SOURCE Even if no power source is available, including the Ni-MH battery pack, the radio and the light can still be operated by continually turning the dynamo crank with the power selector switch in the center DYNAMO/ADAPTOR position. 7 USING AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE AND NI-MH BATTERY CHARGING The FR250 can be powered via an AC adaptor/charger (not included). Using an AC adaptor/charger automatically charges the internal Ni-MH battery pack. If the adaptor/charger meets the correct specifications it can be left plugged in without damaging the Ni-MH battery pack. When the battery pack is depleted it takes about 8 hours to charge it using the proper AC adaptor/charger. The Ni-MH battery pack will take charge with the power selector switch set to any of its positions. For proper operation, the AC adaptor/charger must meet the specifications described below. AC ADAPTOR/CHARGER SPECIFICATIONS Output of 4.5 volt DC; negative polarity; 80-200 milliamperes current capability; plug tip outer diameter of 3.4 millimeter, inner diameter of 1.3 millimeter. To power the FR250 with an AC adaptor/charger, plug it into the DC socket on the rear of the FR250 and set the power selector switch to the center DYNAMO/ADAPTOR position. IMPORTANT NOTE: If using an AC adaptor rated higher than 80-200 milliamps, unplug the internal rechargeable battery. automatically switched off. 5 PREVENTING BATTERY ACID LEAKAGE To avoid battery acid leakage, only use high quality alkaline, lithium or rechargeable nickel-metal-hydride batteries. Never intermix old with new, or different brands or types of batteries. Damage caused by battery acid leakage is not covered by this product's warranty. If the batteries leak, don't throw them away and immediately contact the manufacturer of the batteries to inquire about their battery leakage warranty program. 6 7 FR250 OPERATION MANUAL 8 USING THE FR250 AS A CELL-PHONE CHARGER Because cell phone batteries vary in their current ratings, we cannot specify charging rates or usage time. There are two cell phone charging methods: METHOD 1 ­ DYNAMO 1. Slide the power selector switch to the OFF position. 2. Attach the cell phone to the Phone Charger socket on the rear of the FR-250, using the correct cell phone extension wire and adaptor plug that matches your phone. 3. Rotate the dynamo crank either clockwise or counter-clockwise at about 2 turns per second. (the cell phone Charging Indicator will activate during charging). METHOD 2 ­ AC ADAPTOR/CHARGER (NOT INCLUDED) 1. Slide the power selector switch to the OFF position. 2. Attach the cell phone to the Phone Charger socket on the rear of the FR-250, using the correct cell phone extension wire and adaptor plug that matches your phone. 3. Plug in the AC adaptor/charger to its socket on the radio. OPERATION GUIDE continued ADJUSTING THE VOLUME Turn the VOLUME control knob until the desired volume level is heard. TUNING-IN STATIONS Set the band selector switch to the AM, FM or SW position. When using SW, select the desired shortwave band with the 7-position SW band selector knob. Tune stations in with the TUNING knob, using the superimposed FINE TUNING control as desired. For best FM and SW (shortwave) reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. FM reception can often be improved by rotating the telescopic antenna. For AM reception, the telescopic antenna need not be extended, as the AM antenna is an internal, directional, ferrite bar antenna. For best AM reception, rotate the radio until the best signal strength is achieved. See below for how to optimize shortwave reception. OPTIMIZING SHORTWAVE RECEPTION Shortwave enables listening to broadcasts over vast distances including other countries and continents. Being aware of the following information will help you get the best results. · Shortwave reception is best around sunrise, sunset and at night. · Night shortwave is usually superior to day shortwave reception. · During the day, frequencies above 13 MHz are usually best. · At night, frequencies below 13 MHz are usually best. · Around sunset and sunrise, the entire shortwave range may be good. · Getting very close to a window and holding the radio improves shortwave reception. 9 OPERATION GUIDE TURNING THE FR250 ON AND OFF Turn it on by selecting a power source of your choice as described above and by setting the power selector switch to the BATTERY or center DYNAMO/ADAPTOR position. 8 9 9 FR250 OPERATION MANUAL OPERATION GUIDE continued The Shortwave Band Chart, shown below, is also helpful. Shortwave is divided into `bands'. Each band represents a specific frequency range in which broadcasting takes place. Write your return address clearly on the shipping carton and on an enclosed cover letter describing the service required, symptoms or problems. USING THE LIGHT Set the FLASHLIGHT to the ON position. USING THE EARPHONE JACK Plug in a set of earphones (not included) of your choice that have a 1/8 inch mono or stereo plug. When using earphones the built-in speaker will be switched off automatically. Note that stereo earphones will work and sound will be heard from both sides, although FM is not received in stereo. USING THE SIREN The siren can be used to attract attention in an emergency situation. To activate it, turn it on by selecting ON with the siren ON/OFF switch. 10 10 11 11 FR250 OPERATION MANUAL 11 ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY Etón warrants to the original purchaser this product shall be free from defects in material or workmanship for one year from the date of original purchase. During the warranty period Etón or an authorized Etón service facility will provide, free of charge, both parts and labor necessary to correct defects in material and workmanship. At their option, Etón may replace a defective unit. (1) Complete and send in the Warranty Registration Card within ten (10) days of purchase. (2) Call Etón or the nearest authorized service facility, as soon as possible after discovery of a possible defect. Have ready: (a) the model and serial number. (b) the identity of the seller and the approximate date of purchase. (c) a detailed description of the problem, including details on the electrical connection to associated equipment and the list of such equipment. (3) Etón will issue a Return Authorization number and the address to which the unit can be shipped. Ship the unit in its original container or equivalent, fully insured and shipping charges prepaid. Correct maintenance, repair, and use are important to obtain proper performance from this product. Therefore carefully read the Instruction Manual. This warranty does not apply to any defect that Etón determines is due to: ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY continued (1) Improper maintenance or repair, including the installation of parts or accessories that do not conform to the quality and specification of the original parts. Pour mettre la radio en marche, mettez le sélecteur d'alimentation sur la position centrale DYNAMO/ADAPTOR. 16 17 FR250 MANUEL D' OPÉRATION 4 FONCTIONNEMENT SOUS LES PILES AA Le FR250 est conçu pour être utilisé avec trois piles AA (non comprises). Des meilleurs résultats de performance générale peuvent être obtenus avec l'utilisation de piles AA alcalines ou lithium. Des piles AA rechargeables peuvent aussi être utilisées, cependant elles doivent être chargées dans leur propre chargeur externe. Des piles lithium AA sont plus chères et plus difficiles à trouver, mais elles fournissent deux à quatre fois plus de durée d'utilisation que les piles alcalines et fournissent une plus longue durée limite de stockage. Installez les piles en enlevant le couvercle du compartiment des piles et en suivant les diagrammes de polarité de pile imprimés au dos du couvercle. Enlevez le couvercle en appuyant sur l'indentation étiquetée OPEN et en le tirant au même moment vers le fond du récepteur. Pour utiliser le FR250 sous ses piles AA, allumez le récepteur en mettant le sélecteur d'alimentation sur la position BATTERY. Remarque : Lorsqu'un adaptateur secteur est utilisé, les piles AA seront immédiatement mises hors circuit. 6 UTILISATION EN SITUATION D'URGENCE SANS SOURCE D'ALIMENTATION Même si aucune source d'alimentation n'est disponible, y compris le blocpiles Ni-MH, le récepteur et la lampe peuvent quand même être utilisés en tournant la manivelle de la dynamo de manière continue avec le sélecteur d'alimentation sur la position centrale DYNAMO/ADAPTOR. 7 UTILISATION D'UNE SOURCE D'ALIMENTATION EXTERNE ET CHARGEMENT DE LA PILE NI-MH Le FR250 peut être alimenté via un adaptateur/chargeur CA (non compris). L'utilisation d'un adaptateur/chargeur CA charge automatiquement le bloc-piles Ni-MH interne. Si l'adaptateur/ chargeur est conforme aux caractéristiques techniques correctes, il peut être laissé branché sans risque d'endommager le bloc-piles Ni-MH. Lorsque le bloc-piles est déchargé il faut environ 8 heures pour le charger en utilisant l'adaptateur/chargeur CA qui convient. Le bloc-piles Ni-MH se chargera avec le sélecteur d'alimentation réglé sur n'importe laquelle de ses positions. Pour un fonctionnement correct, l'adaptateur/chargeur CA doit être conforme aux caractéristiques techniques décrites ci-dessous. CARACTÉRISTIQUES TECHNIQUES DE L'ADAPTATEUR/CHARGEUR CA Sortie de 4,5 volts DC; polarité négative; capacité de courant de 80 à 200 milliampères; diamètre externe du bout de la fiche de 3,4 millimètres, diamètre intérieur de 1,3 millimètres. Pour alimenter le FR250 avec un adaptateur/chargeur secteur, branchez-le dans la prise DC au dos du récepteur et réglez le sélecteur d'alimentation sur la position DYNAMO/ADAPTOR. REMARQUE IMPORTANTE: Si vous utilisez un adaptateur CA évalué à plus de 80 à 200 milliampères, débranchez la batterie rechargeable interne. 5 COMMENT EMPÊCHER LES FUITES DE L'ACIDEDES PILES Pour empêcher les fuites de l'acide des piles, n'utilisez que des piles de haute qualité alcalines, lithium ou rechargeables en nickel-métal-hydrure. Ne mélangez jamais les piles vieilles et neuves ou des marques ou types différents de piles. Les dégâts causés par des fuites de l'acide des piles ne sont pas couverts sous la garantie de ce produit. Si les piles fuient, ne les jetez pas et contactez immédiatement le fabricant des piles pour vous renseigner à propos de leur programme de garantie de la fuite des piles. 18 19 FR250 MANUEL D' OPÉRATION 8 UTILISATION DU FR250 COMME CHARGEUR DE TÉLÉPHONE CELLULAIRE Parce que les courants nominaux de batteries de téléphone cellulaire varient, nous ne pouvons pas spécifier des régimes de charge ni des durées d'utilisation. Il y a deux méthodes de chargement de téléphone cellulaire: MÉTHODE 1 ­ DYNAMO. 1. Glissez le sélecteur d'alimentation sur la position OFF. 2. Attachez le téléphone cellulaire à la prise de Chargeur de Téléphone au dos du FR-250 avec le fil prolongateur de téléphone cellulaire qui convient avec votre téléphone. 3. Er wird durch schnelles Drehen des Dynamos bei ungefähr 2 Drehungen pro Sekunde aufgeladen, was bei geringer Lautstärke zu ungefähr 60 Minuten Radiospielzeit führt, wenn der Akku neu ist. Der Akku befindet sich im Batteriefach und kann ersetzt werden, wenn er sich nicht mehr aufladen lässt. In Nordamerika sind Ersatzakkus direkt von Eton Corporation erhältlich. Die allgemeinen Spezifikationen sind: Ni-MH, 3,6 Volt GS, 600 mAh. Die Spannung des Ersatzakkus muss 3,6 Volt betragen, die mAh-Leistung kann größer oder kleiner sein, z.B. 200mAh oder 800 mAh und die Polarität des Anschlusskabel muss passen (rot auf rot und schwarz auf schwarz). Da es sich um Mobiltelefonbatterien handelt, sind sie in vielen Geschäften erhältlich. 3 STROMZUFUHR ÜBER DEN DYNAMO Durch Drehen der Dynamokurbel wird der eingebaute NI-MH-Akku geladen. Das Aufladen kann bei ein- und ausgeschaltetem Radio erfolgen. Die Wirksamkeit ist bei eingeschaltetem Radio jedoch geringer und die Spielzeit verkürzt sich daher. Beim Aufladen über den Dynamo hängt die Betriebszeit von der Anzahl und der Geschwindigkeit der Drehungen ab. Mit einem neuen Akku bewirkt ein kräftiges Drehen für 90 Sekunden bei ungefähr 2 Drehungen pro Sekunde eine Spielzeit des Radios von bis zu 60 Minuten bei geringer Lautstärke und ausgeschaltetem Licht. Wenn das Licht eingeschaltet ist, während das Radio spielt, ist die Spielzeit geringer. 1. Den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl auf die Position AUS stellen. 2. Die Dynamo-Kurbel kräftig entweder im oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Während des Aufladens leuchtet die rote Ladungs-LED. 3. Zum Einschalten des Radios den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl in die mittlere Stellung DYNAMO/ADAPTOR bringen. 29 28 FR250 BETRIEB HANDBUCH 4 BETRIIEB MIT AA -BATTERIEN Das FR250 kann mit drei AA -Batterien betrieben werden (nicht mitgeliefert). Die beste Allgemeinleistung wird beim Gebrauch von Alkalioder Lithiumbatterien der Größe AA erzielt. Es können auch wiederaufladbare AA-Batterien verwendet werden, sie müssen jedoch in einem getrennten Ladegerät aufgeladen werden. Lithium Batterien der Größe AA sind teurer und schwerer zu finden, bieten jedoch ein zwei- bis dreifache Spielzeit im Vergleich mit Alkalibatterien und eine viel längere Lebensdauer. Die Abdeckung des Batteriefachs abnehmen und die Batterien einsetzen. Dabei den Polaritätsdiagrammen folgen, die auf der Unterseite der Abdeckung abgebildet sind. Zum Abnehmen der Abdeckung des Batteriefachs gleichzeitig die beiden Aussparungen mit der Bezeichnung OPEN drücken und dann die Abdeckung in Richtung der Unterseite des Radios ziehen. Um das FR250 mit den AA-Batterien zu betreiben muss das Radio eingeschaltet werden, indem der Schalter für die Stromzufuhrwahl auf die Position BATTERY gestellt wird. Anmerkung: Wenn ein Netzteil verwendet wird, werden die AA Batterien automatisch abgeschaltet. 6 NOTBETRIEB OHNE STROMQUELLE Selbst wenn keine Stromquelle zur Verfügung steht, auch nicht der NiMH -Akku, können das Radio und das Licht durch ständiges Drehen an der Dynamo-Kurbel trotzdem betrieben werden. Die Stromzufuhrwahl muss dazu in der mittleren Position DYNAMO/ADAPTOR stehen. 7 STROMZUFUHR VON AUSSEN UND LADEN DER NI-MH -BATTERIEN Das FR250 kann über ein WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät aufgeladen werden (nicht mitgeliefert). Das WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät lädt den internen NIMH-Akku automatisch. Wenn das Netzteil/Ladegerät den genauen Spezifikationen entspricht, kann es eingesteckt bleiben, ohne den NIMH-Akku zu beschädigen. Wenn der Akku entladen ist, werden zum Aufladen mit dem WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät ungefähr 8 Stunden benötigt. Der Ni-MH -Akku wird in allen Stellungen des Schalters für die Stromzufuhrwahl geladen. Zum korrekten Betrieb muss das WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät den unten beschriebenen Spezifikationen entsprechen. SPEZIFIKATIONEN FÜR DAS WS-NETZTEIL/LADEGERÄT Ausgabe von 4,5 Volt GS, negative Polarität; Kapazität von 80-200 mA; Außendurchmesser der Steckerspitze 3,5 mm, Innendurchmesser 1,3 mm. Wenn das FR20 mit einem WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät betrieben werden soll, dieses in die Rückseite des FR250 einstecken und den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl in die Position DYNAMO/ADAPTOR stellen. WICHTIGER HINWEIS: Wenn ein Netzteil mit mehr als 80-200 mAh 5 VERMEIDEN DES AUSLAUFENS VON BATTERIESÄURE Um das Auslaufen von Batteriesäure zu vermeiden, nur Alkali- oder Lithiumbatterien bester Qualität bzw. Ni-MH-Akkus verwenden. Nie alte und neue Batterien oder Batterien verschiedener Marken oder Typen kombinieren. Schäden, die durch das Auslaufen der Batteriesäure entstehen sind nicht durch die Garantie für dieses Produkt abgedeckt. Ausgelaufene Batterien nicht wegwerfen sondern sofort den Batteriehersteller benachrichtigen und sich nach dessen Garantieprogramm im Falle eines Auslaufens von Batterien erkundigen. 30 verwendet wird, den Stecker des internen wiederaufladbaren Akku ziehen. 31 FR250 BETRIEB HANDBUCH 8 DAS FR250 ALS LADEGERÄT FÜR MOBILTELEFONE Da Mobiltelefonakkus unterschiedliche Stromleistungen haben, kann keine Ladestromstärke oder Leistungsdauer angegeben werden. Akkus von Mobiltelefonen können auf zwei Weisen geladen werden: METHODE 1 - Dynamo 1. Den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl in die Stellung AUS bringen. 2. Das Mobiltelefon mit dem richtigen Telefonverlängerungskabel und einem für das Telefon passenden Adapter an die Buchse auf der Rückseite des FR250 anschließen. 3. Die Dynamokurbel mit ungefähr 2 Umdrehungen pro Sekunde entweder im oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen. (die Ladeanzeige für das Mobiltelefon ist während des Ladens aktiviert). METHODE 2 ­ WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät (nicht mitgeliefert). 1. Den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl in die Stellung AUS bringen. 2. Das Mobiltelefon mit dem richtigen Telefonverlängerungskabel und einem für das Telefon passenden Adapter an die Buchse auf der Rückseite des FR250 anschließen. 3. Das WS-Netzteil/Ladegerät in die Buchse auf der Rückseite des FR250 einstecken. BEDIENUNGSANLEITUNG fortgesetzt EINSTELLEN DER LAUTSTÄRKE Den Knopf LAUTSTÄRKE drehen, bis die erwünschte Lautstärke erreicht ist. EINSTELLEN VON SENDERN Die Bandwahl in die Stellung UKW, MW oder KW bringen. In KW kann das gewünschte Kurzwellenband mit dem KW-Knopf gewählt werden. Dieser hat 7 Einstellungsmöglichkeiten. Sender können mit dem Knopf SENDER gefunden werden, wobei der aufgelagerte Knopf zur Feineinstellung nach Bedarf zur Hilfe genommen werden kann. Für besten Empfang von UKW und KW (Kurzwelle) die teleskopische Antenne vollständig ausziehen. Der UKW-Empfang kann oft durch Drehen der teleskopischen Antenne verbessert werden. Zum MW-Empfang wird eine interne Ferrit- Richtantenne verwendet und es ist daher nicht notwendig, die teleskopische Antenne auszuziehen. Für besten MW-Empfangs das Radio drehen, bis die beste Signalstärke erreicht ist. Hinweise zur Verbesserung des Kurzwellenempfangs befinden sich unten. OPTIMIEREN DES KURZWELLENEMPFANGS Über Kurzwelle können Sender über große Entfernungen empfangen werden, auch aus anderen Ländern und Kontinenten. Die Berücksichtigung folgender Informationen trägt zu guten Ergebnissen bei. · Der Kurzwellenempfang ist gegen Sonnenauf- und -untergang und während der Nacht am besten. · DDer Empfang der Kurzwelle während der Nacht ist normalerweise besse als während des Tages. · DWährend des Tages sind gewöhnlich Frequenzen über 13 mHz am besten. · DIn der Nacht sind gewöhnlich Frequenzen unter 13 mHz am besten. · DGegen Sonnenuntergang und Sonnenaufgang kann der ganze Kurzwellenbereich gut sein. · DDer Kurzwellenempfang verbessert sich wesentlich, wenn man sich sehr nahe an ein Fenster stellt und das Radio in den Händen hält. 9 BEDIENUNGSANLEITUNG EIN- UND AUSSCHALTEN DES FR250 Wie oben beschrieben die Stromquelle wählen und dann den Schalter zur Stromzufuhrwahl in die Stellung BATTERY oder DYNAMO/ADAPTOR bringen. Dadurch wird das Radio eingeschaltet. Girare vigorosamente la manovella della dinamo in senso orario o antiorario. Il LED rosso di carica della batteria rimane illuminato durante l'operazione. 3. Per accendere la radio, portare il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE nella posizione centrale DYNAMO/ADAPTOR [dinamo/trasformatore]. 53 52 FR250 MANUALE OPERATIVO 4 ALIMENTAZIONE TRAMITE BATTERIE AA La FR250 è stata progettata per essere alimentata da tre batterie ministilo AA (non fornite). Usare batterie alcaline o al litio per ottimizzare il rendimento della radio. Si possono usare anche batterie AA ricaricabili. La loro ricarica richiede però un separato caricabatterie esterno. Le batterie AA al litio sono più care e meno comuni. In compenso, possono essere conservate molto più a lungo di quelle alcaline e permettono di raddoppiare o quadruplicare la durata d'ascolto. Installare le batterie rimuovendo lo sportello dell'apposito scompartimento e rispettando la polarità indicata dallo schema riportato sul lato interno dello sportello. Rimuovere lo sportello premendo sulla dicitura OPEN [aperto] e spingendolo verso il basso in direzione del fondo della radio. Per alimentare la FR250 a batterie AA, accenderla impostando il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE sulla posizione BATTERY [batteria]. NOTA BENE. Quando si usa un trasformatore CA, le batterie AA ven- 6 FUNZIONAMENTO D'EMERGENZA SENZA FONTI DI ALIMENTAZIONE Anche quando non sono disponibili fonti di alimentazione, gruppo al NiMH compreso, è possibile far funzionare la radio e la torcia impostando il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE nella posizione DYNAMO/ADAPTOR e facendo ruotare di continuo la manovella della dinamo. 7 USO DI UNA FONTE ESTERNA DI ALIMENTAZIONE E RICARICA DELLA BATTERIA AL NI-MH La FR250 può essere alimentata per mezzo di un trasformatore CA/caricabatterie (non fornito). L'uso di un trasformatore CA/caricabatterie carica automaticamente il gruppo batteria al Ni-MH. Se il trasformatore/caricabatterie è conforme alle specifiche, può essere lasciato sotto tensione senza danneggiare il gruppo al Ni-MH. Quando la batteria è scarica, la ricarica con il trasformatore/caricabatterie richiede circa 8 ore. Il gruppo al Ni-MH può essere ricaricato con il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE impostato su qualsiasi posizione. Per funzionare bene, il trasformatore CA/caricabatterie deve conformarsi alle specifiche indicate sotto. SPECIFICHE DEL TRASFORMATORE CA/CARICABATTERIE Uscita di 4,5 volt CC; polarità negativa; 80-200 milliampere di corrente; punta della spina con diametro esterno di 3,4 millimetri e diametro interno di 1,3 millimetri. Per alimentare la FR250 con un trasformatore CA/caricabatterie, collegare il trasformatore alla radio ed impostare il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE sulla posizione DYNAMO/ADAPTOR. N.B. Se si usa un trasformatore CA di capacità superiore ad 80-200 milliampere, scollegare la batteria interna ricaricabile. gono disinserite automaticamente. 5 PERDITE DI ACIDO DALLE BATTERIE Per evitare le perdite di acido dalle batterie, usare solamente batterie alcaline, al litio o ricaricabili al nichel-idruro di metallo di alta qualità. Non mescolare mai batterie vecchie con le nuove, né batterie di marche o di tipi diversi. I danni causati da tali perdite non sono coperti dalla garanzia di questo prodotto. Se le batterie perdono, prima di smaltirle rivolgersi al fabbricante e chiedere informazioni in merito alla relativa garanzia contro le perdite. 54 55 FR250 MANUALE OPERATIVO 8 USO DELLA FR250 COME CARICABATTERIE PER CELLULARI Visto che le batterie dei cellulari variano quanto a valori nominali di corrente, non è possibile specificare velocità di ricarica o tempi di utilizzo. La ricarica della batteria di un cellulare può essere effettuata in due modi: METODO 1 ­ Dinamo. 1. Far scorrere il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE nella posizione OFF. 2. Collegare il cellulare alla presa del caricabatteria per cellulari posta sul retro della FR250, usando l'apposito cavetto di prolunga. 3. Far ruotare la manovella della dinamo in senso orario o antiorario ad una velocità di circa due giri al secondo. (La spia di carica del cellulare si illumina durante la ricarica). METODO 2 ­ Trasformatore CA/caricabatterie (no fornito). 1. Far scorrere il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE nella posizione OFF. 2. Collegare il cellulare alla presa del caricabatteria per cellulari posta sul retro della FR250 con l'apposito cavetto di prolunga. 3. Collegare il trasformatore CA/caricabatterie all'apposita presa posteriore della radio. GUIDA AL FUNZIONAMENTO segue REGOLAZIONE DEL VOLUME Far ruotare la manopola del VOLUME finché non si ottiene il livello di ascolto desiderato. SINTONIA Impostare il selettore di banda sulla posizione FM, AM o SW. Quando si ascoltano trasmissioni ad onde corte SW, selezionare la banda desiderata usando il selettore a sette posizioni SW. Sintonizzarsi sulle stazioni per mezzo della manopola della SINTONIA, girando opportunamente la manopola sovrapposta della SINTONIA FINE. Per massimizzare la ricezione FM e ad onde corte, estendere completamente l'antenna telescopica. La ricezione FM spesso migliora ruotando opportunamente l'antenna. Nel caso della ricezione AM, non è necessario estendere l'antenna telescopica, visto che la relativa antenna direzionale in ferrite è interna. Per conseguire una ricezione AM ottimale, far ruotare la radio finché non si ottiene il segnale più forte. La prossima seziona esamina la ricezione ad onde corte. OTTIMIZZAZIONE DELLA RICEZIONE AD ONDE CORTE Le onde corte permettono l'ascolto di emittenti molto distanti, operanti in altre nazioni o altri continenti. Le seguenti indicazioni permettono di conseguire i migliori risultati di ascolto ad onde corte. · La ricezione migliore dei broadcast ad onde corte si ottiene all'alba, al tramonto e di notte. · Di norma la ricezione notturna è migliore di quella diurna. · Durante il giorno, le migliori frequenze sono spesso quelle sopra i 13 MHz. · Di notte , sono migliori quelle sotto i 13 MHz. · All'alba ed al tramonto, è possibile ricevere bene l'intera gamma delle frequenze ad onde corte. · Per migliorare la ricezione bisogna avvicinarsi ad una finestra tenendo la radio in mano. 9 GUIDA AL FUNZIONAMENTO ACCENSIONE E SPEGNIMENTO DELLA FR250 Accendere la radio selezionando la fonte di alimentazione desiderata nel modo suindicato e poi impostando il SELETTORE DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE sulla posizione BATTERY o DYNAMO/ADAPTOR. USO DELLA SPINA JACK DELLE CUFFIE Le cuffie (non fornite) devono essere dotate di una spina monoaurale o stereo da 1/8 di pollice (3,5 mm). Il collegamento delle cuffie disattiva automaticamente il diffusore incorporato. Le cuffie stereo funzionano emettendo suoni su entrambi i canali anche quando la trasmissione FM non è stereofonica. USO DELLA SIRENA La sirena serve ad attrarre l'attenzione altrui in una situazione di emergenza. Per azionarla, impostare sulla posizione ON l'apposito interruttore ON/OFF. 58 59 FR250 MANUALE OPERATIVO 11 GARANZIA LIMITATA DI UN ANNO La Etón garantisce all'acquirente originale che questo prodotto è privo di difetti di materiali o di lavorazione per un periodo di un anno a decorrere dalla data di acquisto originale. Durante il periodo di garanzia, la Etón o un centro autorizzato di servizio Etón fornirà a titolo gratuito i pezzi e la manodopera necessari per ovviare ai difetti di materiali o di lavorazione.
