In order to make the best of its performance, we recommend you read this guide and keep it for future reference. Note The Cross Uniq crossover has been developed according to a specific location for each transducers of N°5, N° 6 and N° 7 Utopia Be kits only. To do this, standard type installations have been defined. In order to obtain the best results, we recommend you to strictly follow these installations rules thanks to diagrams number 2 for N°5 and N°6 Utopia Be kits and number 5 for N°7 Utopia Be kit. The tweeters of the N°5, N°6 and N°7 Utopia Be kits, like the midrange of the N°7 Utopia Be kit must be flush mounted. The minimum load for the midrange driver of the N°7 Utopia Be kit is 0.3 liter. Package contents - 2 Cross Uniq crossovers - 4 screws (5 x 20mm) - 1 user's manual Installation The Cross Uniq crossover is exclusively designed to take full advantage of all the possibilities offered by the Utopia Be N° 5, N° 6 and N°7 kits. We recommend you install this crossover in a clean and dry place in order to avoid any risk of damaging it. Also take care to ensure there is sufficient space left in front of the Cross Uniq to facilitate access to the connection cables. Images may not conform exactly to specific product. 2 Cross Uniq User 's Manual Fixing and wiring The Cross Uniq crossover has holes to enable its fixing to a flat surface. In order to fix it in place, we recommend you follow the below steps: - Remove the 4 screws from the transparent plate, and then remove the plate. - Place the crossover in the desired place, then mark the position of the holes with a marker. - Remove the crossover, take a drill and a drill bit of a diameter which must be under 20mm. Before drilling the previously marked hole positions, take care not to drill the petrol tank or any other part of the car where any type of wiring may be located. - Drill. - Attach the crossover with the screws provided. - Connect the positive and negative wires from the loudspeaker output of the amplifier taking care to respect the polarity (+ to IN+ and ­ to IN-). - Connect the wires coming from the woofer on the W+ and W- outputs of the Cross Uniq taking care to respect the polarity. - Connect the wire coming from the tweeter on the T+ and T- terminals of the Cross Uniq taking care to respect the polarity. Note The N°7 Utopia Be kits include a 3" midrange driver. The wiring polarity of these transducers depend on the use. When demonstrated on a baffle (all the transducers are on the same panel) in a sales area for example, you must respect the wiring polarity (+ to MID+ and ­ to MID-). On the contrary, when installed in a car (please refer to diagram N° 2), you must reverse the polarity (+ to MID- and ­ to MID+). This is due to the location of the transducers which are out of the listening axis. - Reposition the transparent plate, then put the 4 screws in place. Adjustment The Cross Uniq crossover has a 0/+3dB switch which enables you to adjust the level of the tweeter. Afin d'obtenir les meilleurs résultats, nous vous conseillons donc vivement d'installer votre kit Utopia Be de façon à respecter les conditions exposées dans les schémas N° 2 pour les kits Utopia Be N°5 / N°6 et N°5 pour le kit Utopia Be N°7. Les tweeters des kits Utopia Be N°5, N°6 et N°7 ; ainsi que le médium du kit N°7, doivent impérativement être montés en affleurement (montage encastré). Le volume de charge du médium du kit Utopia Be N°7 ne doit en aucun cas être inférieur à 0,3 litre. Images non contractuelles. ©Focal-JMlab 10 Notice Cross Uniq Fixation et câblage Le filtre Cross Uniq est doté de trous permettant sa fixation sur une surface plane. Afin de procéder à la fixation, nous vous recommandons de suivre les étapes ci-dessous : - Oter les 4 vis de la plaque transparente, puis retirer cette dernière. - Positionner le filtre à l'endroit désiré, puis marquer l'emplacement des trous à l'aide d'un poinçon. - Enlever le filtre, puis vous munir d'une perceuse et d'une mèche d'un diamètre impérativement inférieur à 20 mm. Avant de percer aux emplacements préalablement repérés, prenez garde de ne pas percer le réservoir ou tout autre partie de la voiture susceptible de dissimuler quelque câblage que ce soit. - Percer. - Fixer le filtre à l'aide des vis fournies. - Connecter les câbles positif et négatif provenant de la sortie haut-parleur de l'amplificateur en prenant garde de respecter les polarités (+ vers IN+ et ­ vers IN-). - Connecter le câble provenant du woofer sur les sorties W+ et W- du Cross Uniq en prenant garde de respecter les polarités. - Connecter le câble provenant du tweeter sur les sorties T+ et T- du Cross Uniq en prenant garde de respecter les polarités. Attention Le kit Utopia Be N°7 est doté d'un médium de 8 cm. La polarité du câblage de celui-ci sur le Cross Uniq est fonction de l'utilisation. En exposition sur baffle plan (point de vente, ...), veuillez respecter les polarités de câblage (la cosse positive du transducteur médium doit être connectée sur MID +, la cosse négative du transducteur médium doit être connectée sur MID -). A contrario, lors de l'installation du kit Utopia Be N°7 dans un véhicule dans les conditions mentionnées par le schéma n° 2 page 6, nous vous recommandons d'inverser les polarités (la cosse positive du transducteur médium doit être connectée sur MID -, la cosse négative du transducteur médium doit être connectée sur MID +). Ceci est dû à l'emplacement du médium et à sa position hors de l'axe d'écoute. - Repositionner le capot transparent, puis remettre les 4 vis en place. Réglage Le filtre Cross Uniq est doté d'un commutateur 0/+3 dB qui permet de régler le niveau du tweeter.
