User manual FUJIFILM FINEPIXVIEWER - RELEASE NOTE

Dear Sirs: EPN Vol. 144 October 2, 2001 This is to inform you of the status of Fujifilm digital cameras on Windows XP. 1. The current CD "Software for FinePix Ver.1.2" is NOT compatible with Windows XP. (1) Current digital camera packages include a paper with the following statement: For Windows XP users Before using a Fujifilm FinePix digital camera and its software on Windows XP, you need to upgrade the software included in the CD titled "Software for FinePix". Fujifilm will upload the updater of the software for Windows XP in November, 2001. (2) If you install software from the current CD into Windows XP, and connect a camera with a PC via USB, two Launchers (Windows Auto Play and Fujifilm Exif Launcher / FinePixViewer) start simultaniously, and the PC may become out of control (or may hang-up). Fujifilm FinePix Viewer Screen Windows Auto Play Screen (3) If you do not install any software from the current CD into Windows XP, and connect a camera with a PC via USB, - the camera (Mass Storage mode) will be recognized, because the Mass Storage driver is pre-installed in Windows XP. - the camera (PC Camera mode) will NOT be recongnized, because the PC Camera driver is NOT pre-installed in Windows XP. 2. The new CD "Software for FinePix Ver.2.0" is compatible with Windows XP. (1) This CD is included in the FinePix2800 Zoom or later model and all of Fujifilm digital cameras from october productions. (2) After installing the driver and software from this CD into Windows XP, and connecting a camera to a PC via USB, Mass Srorage mode - the camera is recognized on the PC, although the Mass Storage driver is NOT installed from this CD, because the Mass Storage driver is pre-installed in Windows XP. - then, Windows Auto Play automatocally finds image files stored in a card of the camera, and FinePixViewer is automatically listed as recommended applications as shown below. because Windows Auto Play is modified for FinePixViewer during this installtion. Fujifilm FinePixViewer is listed. PC Camera mode - the camera is recongnized after clicking "Continue Anyway" button in the following dialog box. - then, Exif laucher automatically finds the camera and FinePixViewer and PictureHello automatically start up. 3. Fujifilm-Tokyo will upload, late October at its website, the updater for users to update their extising CD to a Windows XP-compatible CD. (1) You need to first install all software included in their following CD: - Utilities for Fujifilm Digital Cameras (year 2000 CD) - Software for FinePix (year 2001 CD) (2) You need to download the updater and then execute the updater for installed software to work properly on Windows XP.
